I like looting stuff >.>
Was the insane quantities of stat bonuses not enough for you? :)

Headgear for rouges and mages looked ugly as hell :/
I've been ninja'd! Actually, I suspected as much, and looked for it. I'm always reluctant to wear helms cause my the Maker are they ugly. :(

I mainly disliked... well... it is very addictive, but certain little things kinda bugged me.
Like, I would have enjoyed wandering through the world of Dragon Age.
Instead, you have a map and key areas highlighted and traveling from point A to point B, heaven forbid you get into a random encounter and end up being ill-prepared for the situation.

I would have also loved more diversity for the Romance interests. I liked Alistair, hated Zevran, kinda enjoy Morrigan, and working on Leliana.

Oh, and I hated that you're rather limited to six origin options. Like, I would have loved to have started out as an Apostate, or a Dalish Mage. Then again, I'm kinda nitpicking here...

I guess I disliked the fact that I was no good at it, but that's no fault of the game, to be sure. In fact, I still enjoyed it. I was rubbish at it, but still.

The frickin' fade! I hate the fade, I really do.
It's not quite "Taris" bad, but it's probably the worst part of the game. Saved only by the shortness (about an hour and a half) and the attribute increasers.

Mages to be more balanced and shapeshifting to not suck.

I like hitting things with my sword. I also like turning into cool beasties. As-is, both options are subpar in DA:O and that's sad.

Luckily there are mods that fix this and nothing is quite so satisfying as turning into a giant dragon and burninating my foes.

the golem of amgarrask expansion and a general kind of lack of weapon choices. i would have liked more options. or maybe bare fisted fighters.

i played for a couple of hours and just couldnt get into it.

it was a little too complicated, for one thing... and they explain nothing to you at the beginning. they just kind of thrust you into a battle and expect you to know what your doing. i liked that in Mass Effect, they show you how to play in the first mission, and if you didnt learn enough, they also offer training.

and the combat was pretty dull to me

the character's mannequin line animations
Bioware is in serious need of a guy with a Mo-Cap suit

there's one scene with Lady Isolde that I won't spoil in case you haven't played it
but she's screaming and crying. and her voice is so full of emotion and pain. but when you look at her she's standing there doing the exact same hand motion Leliana uses when she's singing about the elves.
Dragon Age did use Motion Captured animations. That's why you see animations being reused so much throughout the game.
really? wow.
I guess they just need to do it better
the animations were all done poorly, that's my only complaint about the game.

Only just made it after the first battle, but the first large battle didn't feel that...epic...it didn't seem like it ended up as awesome as it had sold itself as

Couldn't play as a barbarian or a non-circle mage or a lot of other things (honestly, all human characters have to be nobles? I thought humans are supposed to be the most diverse race). Combat wasn't very deep. Ending wasn't very satisfying. Very limited weapon customization and weapon choices. Leveling up never mattered. No penalty for characters dying once battles ended. Everything was in the exact same place every play through. Replaying was...kind of pointless after the origin levels.

There's a lot wrong with this game. Still enjoyed playing it.

Melee combat was kinda boring to look at plus the final boss was way too easy on the normal.

I really enjoyed the game, but the one problem with it is that you'll constantly have to micromanage the mage/mages in the group, so unless the player's character is a mage then it's going to get boring fast. Or at least not as immersive as it might have been.

I didn't really mind, but the graphics weren't as good as most other games being released around the same time, which is a shame when you put so much effort into designing a beautiful and detailed world.

It might be easier to name what I did like, so I'll do that:
The origins stories were good overall.

That is all.
Yep...all 6 of them.

Seriously, what the Christ. You couldn't even make a human soldier origin, Bioware? It had to be the noble? I get that humans are pretty much totally better off than anyone else in the game, but come on.

Morrigan - she's a case study in how not to do the ***** archetype well. In one moment, she's amused that you're threatening a priest's life and all the anarchy it represents, in the next, she's sympathizing with the innate dignity of a member of a foreign race all caged up for some unknown (to the party) reason. She's like the angsty teen that's mad at society and knows better than everyone else. Sure, it's true to life to a certain degree, but I couldn't deal with her the way I wanted to and it left me frustrated. She's the type of person who doesn't get out of their clique because the real world would take her to task very quickly for the crap she says. Just not someone I wanted on my party, and I liked Jack from Mass Effect 2.

Dialogue options were often slightly off from anything I wanted to do. Instead of having fun with the dialogue, kinda felt like I was being pigeon-holed into some bland, obliviously good/stupidly evil/plain boring archetype in a number of conversations.

I managed a pretty fun ranger type in D&D based on the scout class. She's competent and plays that strength in social settings rather than trying to be the some silver-tongued, social butterfly. I attempted to recreate her vibe in this game which turned out to be a mistake on all counts.

Mediocre character creator at best, but that's kind of a Bioware thing at this point. Their character animation could use some work in a lot of cases. Also, yes, many terrible looking helms, especially for mages.

Attributes were described poorly and it was hard to see what was best for what given certain weapons, which is probably the reason some people had a real hard/easy time at the same class. Overall balance was kinda crappy though, which includes stealthing in to lay a trap turning out to be a huge waste of time and ability points.

It's largely the game type's fault, but a certain amount of tedium set in pretty quick, and you really needed to babysit your team in combat.

All that said, I only played a couple hours in before some inner part of my mind decided it wasn't worth it.

edit - On the other hand, it was really fun listening to Morrigan and Alistair go at it, but only because he was such a good sport about it.
