i have to agree with you on the predictability of death note. i think that is what ruined it for me
Cowboy Bebop was very good, though. Outlaw Star was equal, in my opinion. Plus, both deserved to go on longer than they did.bahumat42 said:cowboy bebop (always preferred outlaw star)
Brotherhood was filled with too many aesops and speeches. I see it as the happier ending also but the main reason is the father character and homunculi play more as bosses and shonen fights take place and even father gets aesopped at by the "truth" character at the end about "you bad, that is why u failed u look down on humans u no hav friends blah blah blah"AdeptaSororitas said:I gotta Say Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood. I LOVED the original but I found Brotherhood (Which followed the manga) more convoluted and just plain dopey. And then the fandom ordered my death for heresy.
But the manga is the source material. It can't have filler. How would avoiding the manga avoid fillers?Shadu said:Filler is when an anime gets too far ahead of the manga. The anime producers decide that, in order to keep interest up, they'll create a whole new storyline seperate from the manga. Fillers USUALLY don't advance the overall plot at all, and are often subpar. This is not always the case as there are exceptions, but they are widely disliked for this reason. When the manga is far enough ahead, the anime concludes its filler session and then continues on with the original, intended storyline.DarkRyter said:I don't think you quite understand what a filler is.Shadu said:But I can't even read the manga anymore, you know, to avoid fillers.
The point was that Naruto is riddled with filler, so if I liked Naruto but hated filler, I would be able to read the manga and not have to deal with that sort of trash. However, I can't even like the storyline without pointless BS.
Ha, I think we're sort of on two pages here. Hmmm...DarkRyter said:But the manga is the source material. It can't have filler. Though I guess avoiding the manga WOULD avoid fillers, whether one experiences filler or not does not relate to whether one reads the manga.
It lags a bit in the second season(with near and mello spying which is basically an excuse to catch up to what L knew) but it is so beautiful and original I have to disagree.Johnnie Brambora said:No sir, I didn't like Death Note not because of the plot twist, that part was actually interesting to me.n00beffect said:One Piece, Cowboy Bebop, D.Gray man, 07-ghost(that one's truly terrible), and.. yeah, that's about it. Oh, and it's funny how most of the people saying that Death Note is overrated, are mostly pissed-off because (spoiler alert) L dies and gets replaced by a kid and a teenager (to be honest, that kind of pissed me off too, but that still wasn't enough for me to diminish the tremendous atmosphere it had build-up to that point, and not to mention its well-developed, relatable characters). And to the 'gentlemen' claiming that it's an anime for 12 year olds... Why? And how, more precisely? Yeah, you could enjoy it if you were 12... You know, if you could understand all the SYMBOLYSM and all the METAPHORES...
Oh sorry I forgot to mention: DOT FUCKING HACK! That was just so... corny and moral and cheesy and... and just ahhh boring!
No, what I HATED about Death Note, was that you knew where it was going from episode 1, and it was 37 episodes long. They dragged it out with a brutally boring, uneventful pace. If the show was 16 episodes, I would've loved it. But no, it was too freakin' long, and I got the point of the show right off the bat. The ending? It was great. The plot twists? Blew my mind. The premise? Pretty cool. The pacing? Horrendous and dragged out.
I actually like Durarara!!... however, I love Ergo Proxy... fucking awesome series (I rewatch episode 11 a lot to remind myself that anime can actually be that good).CODE-D said:Most underrated is Ergo Proxy, seriously people hate on it for the dumbest reasons.
Damnit, I wanted to be the first to lay on the hate for that series...(!) But yeah, while it was a ridiculous ride of mindless fun (with a little less 'fun' than I would've liked), I seriously don't get why loads of people big it up. Ah well...Casual Shinji said:Gurren Lagann
... you mean, the medium's overrated? I think you'll find that equal numbers of people love it and loathe it so... nnnnnnn? Still, I do agree that too much of it (like any other medium) is just rehashed garbage that just will not DIE!!.Hipsy_Gypsy said:To be brutally honest, I think most of it in general is over-rated. It's just, the way I see it anyroad, what makes anime so special above any other, for example, Western cartoon? I don't really see the big deal anymore. Sure, I used to watch some back in the day and yes, some of it was quite funny but I don't think it's worth getting as worked up over as some people do.
Sure though, whatever floats other people's boats.Anyway, I hope you can see what I'm getting at at least, haha.
Personally, I think Akira was highly overrated. I got into anime and always heard how great it was, and that if you were an anime fan you have to watch Akira. But if I had see this overrated trash first, I wouldn't watch anime now. There was just nothing about that movie that I liked, and I tend to enjoy most anime. This one just wasn't for me.Slenn said:I'm not going to say Akira is overrated, albeit I didn't like the movie at all. For me Akira had way too much stuff crammed into it. And all of it was done in a really graphic animation that was completely distasteful for me, which was probably the biggest factor. And that I can't really factor into my level of "overrated" estimation. Some people like it, some people hate it. To me Akira is like Koyaanisqatsi, it's like an experience more than like a message given.
let me sum up, why id rather listen to nails on a chalkboard, than watch DBZ-KC- said:OT:
DBZ is overrated, most of its fans(including me) like it cuz they used to watch it when they were kids, now I understand how bad that anime was. Compared to Naruto DBZ is overrated.
Oh, another fellow lynch-ee? I swear, there's something about Brotherhood that not liking it is akin to saying "I enjoy torturing kittens" in some circles. I just don't get it- the humor felt forced and ill-placed during dramatic moments.AdeptaSororitas said:I gotta Say Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood. I loved that guys voice. Kai cuts alot of that, because at the time they kinda had to do it like that.thespyisdead said:let me sum up, why id rather listen to nails on a chalkboard, than watch DBZ-KC- said:OT:

"next time on dragon ball z"
it just went on and on and on, some episode having no more than 1 punch thrown, and the rest of the time was just spent floating
How many Dragonball Z characters does it take to change a lightbulb?thespyisdead said:let me sum up, why id rather listen to nails on a chalkboard, than watch DBZ-KC- said:OT:
