In form at school, doing a random quiz, up comes the question:
"What does TARDIS stand for?"
And in less than a second I'd already yelled out "TIME AND RELATIVE DIMENSION IN SPACE!!!"

Yea....

Countless DCU vs Marvel discussions.
Countless discussions of what we'd do with x from y.
As with Tvayumat, buying up SW and re reworking it form 1999 onwards, not helped my my bro already having already gotten the plot sorted out, and has an RP campaign for it ready for when we can get a group interested in it.
Many, many, many Judge Dredd discussions.
I've actually forgotten most of the things he and I talk about, but it'd make anyone with a hint of social eptitude flee in terror most of the time.

too many to count.
possibly the fact that I take gaming seriously is something to consider.
But I'd rather have it this way.

Why the hell are people calling things related to science "nerdy"?
Why the fuck are we using a language of uneducated morons?
Science is my career now, I'm not in elementary school anymore, I don't have to be ashamed, because I know more than the dumb class bullies.
Jeez.
No one said "nerdy" was a bad thing. I relish my geeky/nerdy-ness. Someone is very sensitive.
It doesn't matter if "nerdy" is an offensive word or not, but putting the thirst for knowledge in all it's varieties into such a little word or even worse, comparing it to wasting your life watching stupid old Sci-Fi TV shows, is just something an ignorant retard uncapable of any higher education would do.

And I'm not fucking sensitive, I have radical opinions.
What if you are or have both of those things? Can't you relish your thirst for further knowledge and your love of 12 to the moon?

Further examples, my boyfriend and I met by having a conversation about Marvel Comics and the alternative time-lines (specifically Days of Future Past)

I don't get into many nerdy debates, mostly because I don't get into many debates in general. The one that springs to mind though was when I spent around 15 minutes debating with my sister over whether Palpatine purposely threw the match against Mace Windu so that he could turn Anakin evil, or if he really did lose the battle and just took advantage of the situation. At the end neither of us changed our opinion, and we reached a mutual agreement not to discuss something like that in such detail ever again.

(By the way, Palpatine really did lose to Mace Windu, I don't care what anyone says)

It involved mathematical analysis of crafting resources in Star Wars Galaxies and referring to randomly generated resources by name. Let's leave it at that.

I'd just like to say that you all are pikers--I have nerdier discussions than this EVERY DAY, at least three so far today, including:

A debate on the use of the terminology "sensory form" vs. "sensory data" when discussing how percepts are formed as a part of a methodology for determining whether one is, in fact, sane.

A debate on whether paying taxes constitutes sanction of the immoral.

A discussion on persistence of self independent of the continuing existence of specific physical objects or combinations thereof.

And then there's this.

I sense much fear in you...

And I don't waste my life watching sci-fi tv shows, I waste PORTIONS of my life watching sci-fi tv shows.

You should note that as far as modern slang goes, "Nerdy" and "Geeky" and "Dorky" have become labels that certain segments of the populace apply to themselves, often with pride. No one post-highschool refers to genuine scientists or academicians as "nerds" anymore. We mostly just gaze lovingly at their bulging space-brains, drooling over pictures of cybernetic limbs and hoping they will build us some.

P.S. - When on a diatribe extolling the virtues of higher education and bemoaning the jock culture that clearly shoved you into lockers as a boy, one should attempt to at LEAST maintain proper spelling and grammar. Using words like uncapable doesn't help your credibility much. (Yes, I realize it IS technically considered a word by SOME dictionaries... but seriously?) For that matter, "Uncapable of any higher education"? What does that even mean? Incapable of being educated to college standards? In that case, is it really their fault?

There have been many a nerdy conversation that me and my friends have had. Some examples:

Are Mudkip's really the cutest pokemon?
Will a religion be sparked of by the ceiling cat pictures?
Is there an inappropriate situation to say 'this is sparta' and 'over 9000'?

The different forms of lightsabre techniques and their various strengths and weaknesses over dinner at someone's birthday party to the exclusion of all else.

Form 7 - The Vapad techniques, FTW.

The nerdiest thing I've ever said was when I saw a man fall over drunk a couple Saturday nights ago when trying to move out of the way of his friends playful slap, and remarked upon it: "Wow somebody just botched their dodge roll!" About half the people I was with had no clue what I was going on about, it was awesome.

Discussion wise probably most of my conversations with my best friends. They all usually involve games, films or TV shows which are nerdy in one way or another

Am I the only one who thinks of the Venture Bros. episode where 21 and 24 are arguing about whether or not smurfs lay eggs?

My friends and I can't see any sort of 'action' based movie with out trying to figure out what D&D class some of the characters are and how many levels they have. (this also true fantasy genres; Harry Potter is multiclassed at least a level or two in rogue.)
