Like I already said, most homophobic/racist assholes are going to be homophobic/racist assholes regardless of what protections are or aren't in place. Maybe read through some of my other posts, you'll see that I've already given my opinion on most of these things.

Someone denies me service because of their puritanical hang-ups? Fine, it's as simple as me not seeking them out again, maybe throwing in an expletive as I walk out, if I'm feeling particularly vindictive. I'm not going to yell about how they'll be "hearing from my lawyer". Call me old-fashioned but I'm of the mindset that if you don't want anything to do with me, I don't want anything to do with you. What you need to realize is that people who deny business to people based on their prejudices will eventually cripple their own business model. In the sense that "Oh, I would've made an extra $3,000 this month if I wasn't such a homophobic ****." Meanwhile businesses that don't discriminate will get a boost in revenue from all the customers that get turned away from other small businesses and will either buy out or render obsolete the ones that do. There you go, the market is Darwinian and sorts itself out, no lawsuits needed.

So why do you want businesses to be able to engage in legally supported anti-gay bigotry (I HATE the word homophobia, it's quite inaccurate)?

Since you quoted me twice to say basically the same thing, I can direct you to the post you're currently reading for your answer. As far as 'homophobia' being inaccurate- I suppose it is. It refers to an irrational fear rather than an irrational hatred. But using the 2 interchangeably has become part of the common parlance, so I'll continue to use it. Words mean what the majority decides they do these days.

Look, I explained the reasons behind my thinking, I don't know what else you want from me. We disagree, that's it, and you can't muster the ability to argue 1: civilly and 2: coherently.

I've already said my piece and tried to leave it at that, I even let you have the last word you were clamoring for, since I'm such a nice guy. So the real question here is why can't you let sleeping dogs lie?

Do you have so little consideration for other denizens of this site who didn't come to this thread to see the shitshow it's turned into that you'd keep posting nothing, just for your own self-gratification?

This. This thread is why we are so, so much more fucked than many people realize.

Reason and facts don't make any impact anymore. We are so entrenched in our positions that a carpet bombing of information still isn't enough to dislodge us. You can confront a Trump supporter with facts, and he will say 'cite your sources.' You cite a source, he says that it's biased liberal media. You cite a conservative source, he says 'I don't have time to read all that.' Even if he does read it he says 'it doesn't literally mean what it says, it's a figure of speech.' There is no winning any more arguments, because no one is interested in whether they are right or wrong, it's all about embarrassing the opposing side. And with Breitbart and it's ilk running wild, anyone can find a story that supports anything they choose to believe springing from their personal biases, prejudices, or outright insanity.

The national debate is over. The good guys lost, the bad guys won, and we all just have to suck shit for 4 years and hope the actual state of things wakes people up by then.
