I personally dislike American bills due to the fact that they are all the same colour and such. I enjoy my own Canadian currency with Monopoly-esque colours. I also dislike one dollar bills, loonies are much nicer :D

More on topic, I do like the new design more. The addition of colour is nice. It is less like all the rest, hoping the rest don't follow the exact same redesign.
one of my girlfriends was canadian... ya'll have the dumbest names for the most random shit. I say that respectfully, of course.

It's like Canada has an identity crisis. Should they act more American or more European?
More European, for sure!

Also, what dumb names? I am curious.
I don't even remember all of them to be honest (although, perhaps the most pronounced of European influence was in the pronunciation of certain words, such as pardon (pardone, like in French) and the like). But the thing I couldn't stop laughing at was "Loonies". Aren't there other ones like that too? Like toonies, copper, etc. - or something like that?

I suppose when viewed from the perspective that we still call one cent coins "pennies", it's not THAT weird.. but seriously? Loonies?
dude theres a loon(our national bird) on the coin
That doesn't change the fact that the name sounds like it was created by a 5 year old. And what of the toonies? WHAT OF THE TOONIES? There aren't TWO LOONS on the coin, there's a polar bear. All I think of when I hear the name "toonie" is someone giggling about how "cute" that name would be - "awww, two loonies is a TOONIE! hehehehe"

Does it still have "In God we trust" on the back? I hope not, good a time as any to change it.

Edit: Crap, it does....
Does it really matter?

Hmm, looks more like our money over in the UK.
I think that our government wants to be just like everyone else. I liked it better when we said "Screw everyone else we are The United States. DON'T FUCK WITH US!"

hahahhahhaha, it has it in an even more noticeable way!!!

btw, why should in god we trust be taken away? At the very least, I think it's a good tradition.
Because contrary to popular belief, America is a secular country.
There is a separation between church and state, and therefore it is inappropriate.
oh, ok... you keep believing your revisionist history while I go and read George Washington's and Thomas Jefferson's actual statements on church and state.
No matter what I (or you) believe happened, or what I (or you) believe those two men actually said, there is still a separation of church and state in America.
While I for one know of the Separation of Church and State, I never found the phrase "In God We Trust" against Secularism. You do relise that 70% of Americans believe in a God of some sort and 50% of Americans say Religion is important to their lives (A la Wikipedia [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USA#Religion]), so it's natural thanks to majority rule to include a Divine Being in National stuff. Hell, even Canada has the lyrics "God Keep Our Land" in their national Anthem! I am certain a few Liberal Western European States have some National thing involving a God. The point is, While Church and State are separate, that doesn't mean any government can't say anything involving religion.

I was just thinking that! Nice that they're thinking outside the box to get at the counterfeiters though. I do prefer the Australian money, but purely on the fact that the AU dollar is waterproof.

The really old bills look real old and easy to counterfeit for me (a Canadian.) Canadian money has a lot of security features, like a shiny silver holographic ribbony thing on the sides, the amount the bill is for (e.g. 20 for a 20$ bill) split into fragments with bits on each side, so that when you hold up the bill to a light, it turns transparent and you see the 20, there are also lots of other things that I can't think of at the top of my head.

It came about in coins after about 1870 and a law passed by the 84th Congress (P.L. 84-140) and approved by the President on July 30, 1956, the President approved a Joint Resolution of the 84th Congress, declaring IN GOD WE TRUST the national motto of the United States. IN GOD WE TRUST was first used on paper money in 1957, when it appeared on the one-dollar silver certificate. The first paper currency bearing the motto entered circulation on October 1, 1957. The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) was converting to the dry intaglio printing process. During this conversion, it gradually included IN GOD WE TRUST in the back design of all classes and denominations of currency.

The point is that we havent always used that Motto, that we were more secular before. I for one would like to regress to such. It ridiculous that our Government still plays up to religious superstitions, it should be as secular and neutral as possible.

Australian money is pretty cool, its laminated and has a clear 'window' bit
Yep! I agree with this. Australia money is the most unique currency I've ever seen. I hear its nearly 100% counterfeit proof. Its colorful and they fit alot of art on it.

I understand your point but compared to other current events this just seems so trivial.
