For once I'm slightly optimistic. Remake of one of the greatest FPSs of all time, by the original studio.

Sadly, I don't believe they have the guts to make it anywhere near as hardcore and uncompromising as the original. What made it fantastically scary as a marine was how you needed to deal with incomplete information (an ingenious flare/motion scanner/image intensifier setup, unmatched in any game to date including AvP2) and make constant tactical choices as to where to throw flares and when to shoot out lights. Of course there was also the pressure of anything killing you in 2-3 hits max, no save/load and no checkpoints.

the predalien sucked, the Praetorians were sick tho, these guys could take a ton of damage, but again, they go down as easy as anything if its caught under a minigun. Biggest fault with the game was that the species dont play out as they are intended, i mean, they are not as easy to kick ass with as you might think, so thats why the multiplayer never caught on, since whatever race you chose you either had to stay in the shadows half the round or stay cloaked half the round.

Please hasten to yonder airial transportation, my good sir.
Remove ourselves to the flying apparatus with rotating blades with all due speed, we have need of it.
please can we make our way to the hoverbird

OK the first thing I would do is by some torches, or the newest high-tech equivalent. It looks like most of the suspense of playing a human is from not seeing anything because the environment is so damn dark. Predators have a couple of light filters and the Aliens can see in the dark, but humans have much more options than that silly shoulder-mounted flash light. I really hope that's one of the options, or else it's a really cheap way to provoke "suspense".

Not sure if this has been posted before, but didn't the marines, in the original AvP, have does beeping radars?

I enjoyed the earlier AvP games. Apparently they don't feel they need to bother with any sort of sequel-ish numbers, because nobody remembers they already made an AvP game. Actually, I think two might exist...

While playing as an Alien or Predator is awesome, it was still fun playing as a human. It was sort of like being the protagonist in the worst horror movie you've ever seen. The trick is to play it at night, in the dark, with the sound turned up a little too loud.
You hear the swish of the Alien's tale, hear it's claws clicking in the metal rafters while you frantically swing your flashlight around to try to spot it before it pounces and devours your brains.
Holy shit that sounded scary ! not like Dead Space where no matter how low the light is or how high the sound is I'm still not scared.

I want this game!

Although I'm not sure how well my nerves will survive when you inevitably end up in the hive meeting mum.

Yes they did have Motion Trackers.

Problem: They only work if your enemy is moving and moving a lot...

I'll rent it or buy it depending on what I feel like doing. Hopefully it'll be a bit of fun. I always liked the AvP universe.

I don't think I've ever lol'd so much as I have at the various ways to say GET TO THE CHOPPA!

But regarding the game, I personally can't wait. The atmosphere seems to be spot on, gun metal gray spaceships and flickering lights all the way. Seems top be plenty of vents for the little alien bastards to scurry around in as well. Seriously though, Predators seemed a bit pansyish in that trailer. Sneaking up behind a marine who's clearly in the middle of something. Wheres the honour?! I thought they were all about that.

I think I'll be playing as marines. I get the sense I'll feel much more accomplished if I can complete the game as them.
