I can't wait for it. Matt Smith is awesome, but I fucking hate Karen Gillan. I just don't understand why everyone loves her.

I will most certainly be watching it. I'll probably end up not sleeping, due to excitement.
Eye candy.... well that's my excuse ^_^

For some reason I find myself getting more hyped over Torchwood starting this summer. *hears crickets; hides behind flame shield*

And dammit TimeLord, your avatar is just so mesmerizing... @_@
Wait Torchwood is back...but...but...spoilers?....THIS. IS. AWESOME!
Torchwood: Miracle Day begins in June ;)
Oh I just wikipedia'd it and now I'm torn. On the one hand it has Russell T Davies, is a continuation and has all the original cast and on the other it is a continuation when they had ended it nicely and this quote worries me: "The second executive producer, Julie Gardner, described the new series as being "absolutely rebooted to welcome in a new audience".

To the Americans out there: I love you I really do but I hate Americanization of our shows. Incoming generalisations:
1) Too many ad breaks
2) Humour is hit you over the head with a mallet obvious rather than subtle
3) Things are often spelt out rather than visible on thinking about it or open to interpretation
I really hope Series 6 and the new TW are made for the UK first and US second. As in don't ruin it by changing it for American audiences specifically! I even have American friends who admit that US ports of UK shows usually end up terrible!
as an American i can assure you that most all US ports of foreign shows are horrid just look at what they are doing to akira and i hope they never make TW or DW for the US first

How do we feel about river song? I really don't like how she breaks the formula of assistant-asks-the-questions-the-audience-is-thinking-so-the-doctor-can-explain-what-the-hell-is-going-on, rather than doctor-asks-river-what's-happening-and-she-tells-him-to-wait-and-see. I think she's going a bit too far in terms of evening up the power balance, there.

Also, I've heard a lot of complaints about Americanisation of Brittish shows, and I have agreed with some past examples, but on the other hand the new series of Doctor Who is already an americanisation of the old series, and torchwood was an americanisation of that, so I think RTD is going to think twice before taking it any further in that direction.

EDIT:

In short, I won't be watching Doctor Who anymore until either Smith or Moffat leave. *shrug*
I agree, but I can't go without my fix.

EDIT EDIT: Is americanization an americanisation of americanisation?

I'm looking forward to it. Unfortunately I'm at work when its on, so I'll have to watch it on iPlayer when I get in.

The joys of living in Britain. We have first dibs on (some) great shows...

In short, yes. Z is used in American English where S is supposed to be used in British English.

So... Americanization is an Americanisation of the word Americanisation.

I think that River Song is good in that she mixes things up by knowing parts of the Doctor's future, despite the Doctor knowing how she eventually dies. I think it hasn't been dragged out too much but they should wrap up her character this series. I'm cool with her staying as a companion or just in the odd episode. But as long as the Doctor knows who she is.

I sense a paradox somewhere!

Or just massive amounts of irony

I can't wait! Matt Smith is the best Doctor we've had since the show returned (raises flame shields) and Moffat's writing is so concise and brilliant that the show is far more comprehensive and enjoyable then it ever was under RTD.

HELL YEAH DOCTOR WHO.

Yes, I am a fan. And I do quite like Matt Smith.
But no, I won't be watching. Why?

BECAUSE DOCTOR WHO DOESN'T AIR IN MY COUNTRY GODDAMNIT.
What unfortunate country do you live in? And can you not get BBC iPlayer?
Finland. They aired the first season in... 2006, I think, but I guess it never really caught on here.

And I live under a rock and don't know what that curious iPlayer thing you mentioned is.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/

Basically it's a free to view web player that repeats shows shown on the BBC. Owned by the BBC btw so not illegal or anything :p
However, I don't know if it's country dependant. But give it a shot none the less.
"Not available in your country" :(((( damn.

Possibly both.

Unless this is, in itself, an Americanisation of Americanisation, which in turn in an Americanisation of the word Americanisation.

Probably massive amounts of irony, actually...

Damn, we're good. Several contradictory comments and no flames. I think this proves DW nerds are the nicer enraged fanboys/girls out there.

Sorry to go off topic, but I am reminded of an argument which occured on the BBCs DW forums, in which one party posted "Tits or GTFO" and was greeted with

So, yay us!
