Title is pretty self explanatory, as the release date for the third movie draws closer they seem to be revealing more and more small details.
The new Eva is speculated to be Mari's due to the pink color scheme.

As for the two new women/girls introduced things are up in the air.
The woman with pink hair appears to be a member of Nerve because it looks like she is wearing the uniform.
I am unsure about the other woman.

It really looks like Auska is going to be pushed to her limit, I really hope she doesn't die.

Karuto is mad? What?

All I know is that I can't wait to watch this movie, sub or dub.

Aw man, it's about freaking time, Gainax!

They're one of the few studios in Japan that still makes quality animation, so that alone makes me excited for this new movie. Add to that that the training wheels have been taken off - the story officially split from the original at the end of the second movie - and I'm ready to throw my money at this the first chance I get. Let us see what they can conjur up.

And Asuka looks intense, but I doubt she can top her performance in End of Evangelion.

Can't wait. I loved the first two. They really refined Eva.

So freakin excited! I've been waiting for this movie for... well, for years, since the second one came out (in Japan, I mean, although the English release re-awoke my interest).

As to new characters... hm. Weird.

Also, OP - might want to edit your post for typos. You've got em bad.

What's this anime like anyways? I've watched a few eps and felt like cutting myself afterwards. Reviews from people who watched the whole thing are no different. Although they did still give it good scores.

Studio Ghibli and Madhouse.

Not that I know many others, but the quality of Japanese animation these last 7 to 8 years hasn't been too stellar. Primarily when it comes to feature films.

This remake is for those new to the series. I highly recommend watching. The older series is just as good, but more gloomy. The creator supposedly wrote the original after recovering from severe depression.

It's like Code Geass if it was developed by people with a serious lack of anti depressants. Meaning that it is over the top, overblown and melodramatic with some extremely creepy Oedipus Complex shit thrown in on top.

It's a good serious, but I feel that it is way overhyped, and sits in the same spot as Gundam where you start to resent it because everybody rips it off.

I need to watch the rebuild films sometime as I loved the anime and EoE, I know there is the whole theory that the events of the rebuild films take place after the anime (like time has reset but the seas are still red and the mark is still on the moon). Anyway I need to get around to watching this.

I have yet to watch the first 2 movies, but after watching the series itself, I can not wait.

I have always liked their way of naming movies.

You are (not) alone.

You can (not) advance.

And now You can (not) redo.

I am waiting anxiously for the last movies name. I'm betting it is You will (not) survive.

It created some very mixed feelings for me. The first half of the anime was actually pretty good. But then, in the second-half, it just kept getting more and more depressing, and the characters became more and more horrible and unlikable with no real relief. Also they ran out of money and made extensive use of still slides and non-animated segments to try and cover for it. In the grand scheme of things, it was an anime with a lot of promise and some neat ideas, that just kind of ran out of gas halfway through.

The movie that expands upon the ending of the series, "End of Evangelion" is also fairly depressing. Everyone dies, the world ends, it's all fairly pretentious and dipped in unnecessary christian symbolism for the sake of sounding cool and just left me with a "Why did I just waste my time watching this" kind of feeling.

Now, the Rebuild movies are a different matter. It actually seems like they know what they want to do this time. Especially with the characters. There's actually some growth, instead of just having them get more depressed, more horrible and never climbing out of the hole they dug for themselves. Shinji (the main, totally unlikable in the anime and original movie, character)actually grows a pair and stands up for himself and others at one point. These movies actually didn't make me hate Shinji Ikari, so that's a massive improvement so far, lol.

Here's hoping Anno and friends don't fumble this whole thing at the last minute like they did with the anime, because so far the Rebuild movies have been quite enjoyable :)

Saw this about a week ago.

But yeah, I can't wait. Not sure in what format or when i'l watch it but I definitely will. Really interested to see where they're gonna go with the story and characters.

Kaworu better die by the end.

You never know, she might be able to top it. With all this new animation and what she just went through, it could happen... but still, it's difficult. I also don't see Shinji doing much this movie with Unit-01.

Really looking forward to it, although I'm mostly anticipating the last film, since I love EoE, and I'm really curious on how they'd handle this time.

I never really got into Evangelion, although it seems like a really well written anime with a great universe and atmosphere.
I'll try plow through the first series during the weekend.
Otherwise, the trailer looks quite nice and the animation is fantastic, especially for the character movements.

ok, the trailer is a traitor.

the real question i have is, 'as some one who hated Eva to begin with, there anything in these remakes/retelling to make me change my mind?'

Hey guys glad to see my fellow escapists excited for this film. I'm excited how different it looks from he original, which draws my greatest question about rebuild. You guys think this alternate story is a a result or a possibility created by the events of end of evangelion/ or episodes 25/26, since they show alternate realities in those. I think it'd be pretty cool if that was the case since it would me the remake isn't really a remake.

Sums my feelings about the series up perfectly. Once I actually found myself laughing while watching EoE, because I despised all the main characters and was just wondering "What the hell were they smoking when they made this?"

Also, while the trailer is a load of garbage, I'm still excited to see this film. 1.0 I didn't like very much, but 2.0 was a real step up. The character I'm most interested in seeing is Rei, as in 2.0 she actually had a personality and I rooted for her. I really want to see what direction they're taking her.

I would say the answer is yes. 1.0 you almost don't need to watch, since it's closer to a remastering than a remake, but 2.0 really improves on every sector. It makes the characters genuinely likable, eschews most of the pretentious religious crap and makes the story more coherent. Plus the animation is grrreat.
