I love it. It makes me wish my 360 didn't suck. I'm not buying a PS3 either.

Maybe I'll just play the GBA and DS classics....but this one looks so shiny!

Okay, one question.
How come the boy is wearing an earring but the girl isn't?
Just curious.
Why not? No really, that's probably why. I actually didn't notce, but I wouldn't have cared (my dad has an earing).

(This post is what made me Go Gonzo. I am happy).

You know what I'd love!? If they didn't dub this into English, just sub it, would make the world a happier place
Well lets hope there is enough space on that blue ray disc to have both English and Jap dubbs. I mean in todays industry is that REALLY too much or too hard to pull off? You know this game is gonna have a ton of dialogue but it's blue ray...it SHOULD fit...a little concerned about the 360 version though..
Why the hell would you want that?
So the people who like jap voices can be happy and so can the people who hate reading subtitles and LIKE the english voices. Hence forth everyone is happy when it comes to the voice acting and there is very little bitching.
I have a question. Why would you want to listen to something in Japanese if you can't understand what they are saying? Reading subtitles would break the immersion in the game.

Then again with cut scenes that long it's hard to be immersed in the first place.

The same reason I watch subbed anime, I sometimes like the jap voices better than the english ones. You have to admit that some english voice overs can be down right terrible. I don't mind subtitles and I could care less about "immersion", fucking HATE that buzz word. People who often prefer the japanese voices and subtitles have been doing it for so long that reading the subtitles is rather subliminal. I typically can watch all the action and still know whats going on as I am essentially reading through my peripheral vision without even trying.

How can you tell if the Japanese voice actors are better if all you hear is gibberish? Besides the voice actors in that trailer had annoying voices. At least the obligatory comic relief character did.

Also immersion is very important for a good game. I would like S.T.A.L.K.E.R nearly as much if it wasn't for the immersion.

when will people finally get bored with JRPGs, and final fantasy in particular? i just dont get why someone would prefer final fantasy to say...Fallout 3, or mass effect, or any other western developed RPG.

Once again it's not about what they are saying, but the tone they are saying it in. Some Japanese voices I prefer over the English voices because they suit the character more in my opinion. Jesus is it so hard to fathom that SOME people prefer Japanese over English in some cases. You may see those voices as annoying and unsuited, OK fine, but hey I loved them. They suited the characters fine as far as I was concerned.

As for immersion, I don't give two shits about it. It's one of those buzz words thats thrown around so often and for me is an irrelevant aspect to liking a game. If a game is fun or has a good story, I could care less if I am not "immersed" or not. Immersion is nothing but a subtle effect that takes hold without me noticing nor caring. Some people need it in order to enjoy a game, but I could care less about it.

Man at this point it sounds like your just trying your hardest to convince me not to like Final Fantasy sheesh.

*sigh* it's called opinion and taste my dear friend. I could easily flip that statement the other way, although regardless it just wouldn't be true. Some people like JRPG's, whats wrong with that. You may like WRPG's but me personally...fallout bored the shit out of me, mass effect was meh, and WRPG's have always lacked a certain something in them that turns me off of them. You can't please everyone because everyone has different preferences and taste.

I'm in the same boat as you. I don't know why people buy these games. I thought it might be because of the combat but then I remembered that most people don't like turn-based combat (I'm one of the freaks that enjoys it). Besides, no amount of combat can make up for a game with lengthy cutscenes focusing around a ridiculous plot.

Can a JRPG fan explain to appeal of these games to me?

What the hell is your problem? I just asked you why you preferred Japanese voice acting. You don't need to get so defensive about it.

Hey I answered your question. Excuse me if that last sentence came off a little harsh but given some of your past comments, it just sounded like your trying your hardest to bash a genre you obviously don't like but others do. Sorry I didn't mean to be rude, it was more on the light hearted side, internet is a bad place to try and convey tone ya know.

Somehow I get the impression that its just the Active Time Battle (ATB) system used in previous games like FF 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 for combat. The only thing they did differently for this combat system is that they allow the characters to move around more on the map, giving the feeling of a fast-paced combat system but possibly hiding the core system with some eye candy.

Though of all the combat systems devised for any FF game, I thought the ATB was the best. At least its a little more demanding of attention then the standard turn based system, though it seems in this one that there isn't many choices. From what I seen, the black guy only has something like three options when his turn comes up where as the "Resident Evil gal" heroine has some extra moves up her sleeve.

Still its nice to finally see some footage on how the combat system works...

nice eye candy not bland at all, the fighting could be a bit more varied, the black guy really needs Eddie Murphys voice for the english version.

I've said it before and I will say it again, when they change something besides graphics or story I might start to care. They get the same amount of contempt for recycling the same game from 1987 every year that EA gets for recycling the same sports games with a bigger number.

Final Fantasy Online doesn't count.

So you have made up your mind on a something before even experiencing it? Well, I am pretty sure thats the definition of prejudice. Anyway, if everyone made their decisions based on screenshots or demos then no one would have played Resident Evil 5 because the demo sucked... actually, it wasnt that good anyway. Why did they make it worse than Resident evil 4?

So I will just say this:
Thats hardly proof of her and cloud looking the same... and they dont. What you are actually seeing is an illusion, its because people tend to focus on the eyes which are actually the same and are facing the same direction. If you focus on the face you will see the change...
And I did. Slightly fuller lips, slightly straighter nose. It's the same face, son.
Son, really? There is only one person who gets to call me son and he died 2 months ago, anyway now we have the "making you feel bad" thing out of the way. I am sorry but no, the skin shades are different, eyebrows, head size (could be attributed to movement of originals and inflation), the only thing that is the same is the eyes.
