Aerith was technically meant to be Alice, but, y'know...
Not quite. The direct transliteration of her name is Earisu. It was probably supposed to read "Earth" (Cloud and Earth, geddit?), but the force was not strong with Square's localisation team before FFVIII, and they were still getting the s/th thing wrong in FFIX, where they managed to change Marilith into Marilis (Marilith, like every single other enemy in FFI, is a creature from the D&D Monster Manual).

Dammit, I need to stop getting these things wrong when I can't remember where I learned them.

Okay, one question.
How come the boy is wearing an earring but the girl isn't?
Just curious.
Why should that matter? Earrings are not gender specific today.

Anyway, i m glad they brought back the turn based combat, without the movement elements from 12. This FF might actually be interesting again, if they get the plot right.

Honestly i was deep down hoping for a face paced turnbased combat like in Grandia 3. With the combat cue dial thing remeber that? At some points there'd be like 3 people attacking somewhere or runnign off or doing whatever at the same time. Very face paced. FF13 looks like the somewhat captured that.

You know what I'd love!? If they didn't dub this into English, just sub it, would make the world a happier place
Well lets hope there is enough space on that blue ray disc to have both English and Jap dubbs. I mean in todays industry is that REALLY too much or too hard to pull off? You know this game is gonna have a ton of dialogue but it's blue ray...it SHOULD fit...a little concerned about the 360 version though..
Why the hell would you want that?

It looks nice and appears to play well with a party-leader/supporter thing going, however, the music was starting to get on my nerves after the 3rd battle. But overall it's a DO WANT.

I'll probably get FFXIII, get about a third of the way through it then lose interest. I just don't really have time for these long games anymore. It's different in things like Fallout and Fable where you can choose to just plough through the main quest in a relatively short space of time... But the Final Fantasy games are absurdly long, even if you're just doing the bare bones of the main quest.

So the people who like jap voices can be happy and so can the people who hate reading subtitles and LIKE the english voices. Hence forth everyone is happy when it comes to the voice acting and there is very little bitching.

I am really trying not to get too excited about this game, because when I did that for FF XII I got nothing but a pair of blue balls (quite impressive, actually, seeing as I am a girl).
I believe the term for you is "blue ovaries".

/clever
Quite.

I'm half excited for this.

I want it, but Square Enix are like "You can't have it, now stand over there while we print money with Japanese people." That is also the Nintendo Strategy
Yea but I mean it is one of the biggest games in Japan. From a business stand point it makes sense to give it to them first.
Thats what alot of people dont understand.

Games made in Japan are made in japanese. So one of the first things they do is release the game in Japan. While that is happen they begin tranlating the games into other languages.
Doesn't help that they also won't release it here until they remake it for the 360.
And thats a problem why?

Gender specific enough you got defensive. About a character...
Don't get me wrong, i m not defensive or offended. It is an honest question. Why should it matter? The character-designer felt like it. That's reason enough for me. I know some males who like earrings and i know some females that don't. I wouldn't think of earrings as gender-specific, but that's just my opinion.
