New Gears of War 3 trailer

I think it looks pretty cool, even though I only have a PS3...

I'm most intrigued by the alien thing that started attacking the Locust at the end... does this mean that Locust and Humans will start joining together to face this new threat?

I have a feeling that's the Luminous (or whatever they're called- the bad... rogue Locusts) back for some more ass whoppin'.

It's a toss-up between that and the first Army of Two, for me.

I would call Resident Evil 4 grander and it came out more than a year before. But then again, it isn't as mainstream as Gears. Also Gametrailers is a mainstream site and Gears are as mainstream as you can come this side of Halo and CoD so they are somewhat entitled to their opinion.

But the mother? Meh.

Nah, that seemed to be Anya, the girl who talked your ear off in GoW 1&2. You see Cole and Baird quite literally a second after her, both with suckier apparel than the last game.

Yes I'll have to see how this all ends.
I'm guessing a massive pitched battle where everyone dies macho deaths.
The bleaker the ending the better.Just for a change we dont need a happy ending.

Resident Evil 4 sold 3.6 million copies on 2 large mainstream consoles - According to Cliffy B the Gears of War franchise in just two games has sold 12 million games, one of which was only on th 360 - the other, a new IP, was also sold on the PC to a niche market. Being "the mother" is all about being mainstream - you're the biggest; that's the point. The cover system has been copied by a large number of games...

So Call of Duty are in your opinion the mother of all FPS's then?

To be the mother of something, is to be the IP that started and popularized that specific genre like Wolfenstein/Doom for FPS and Command & Conquer/Starcraft for RTS. In making two games to define each genre makes me willing to meet halfway that RES 4 and Gears being the lesbian mothers of Third Person Shooters. RES 4 popularized the "over-the-shoulder" view and Gears made a great cover system.

did anyone else notice that the "creature" that pop up behind the locust were trying to kill them and they glow which means they are infected with that imusion stuff which means a 3rd faction....... i hope they dont do what all other games do and say oh the two old factions have to join togeather to defeat a new threat
