Even if it didn't have a great campaign or solid multiplayer, Forge is reason enough for me to buy this game.

As for my opinion on the story, I'll just say that the game's plots are complete shit compared to the awesomeness found in the books. Seriously, that stuff is on par with the likes of Ender's Game and all that.

Looks excellent. I'm really liking every member of Noble team, which is an usually good sign. Normally there's always some slightly crappier member that I end up loathing.

I'm really looking forward to the campaign. I mean, I love the competitive matchmaking and Firefight, but if the campaign doesn't hold up, I could be quite disappointed. Particularly since I have a good friend with whom I've played through the campaigns of Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3 and ODST co-operatively, and it's been great fun so far; I'd hate it if Bungie failed us now.

Not that I think they will.

Oh man that's so cool, especially in terms of fan service, that Halsey's in this one. She was always such a huge part of established Halo canon and how here she is in an actual game.
Here's hoping Thel Vadam gets a bit of screentime too.

As for what I'm looking forward to most in Reach.... is it breaking the rules if I just say 'everything'?

OT: Multiplayer and forge. Making maps and sharing them with friends is just plain awesome.

Edit: Forget it. I'm most excited for everything.

Someone on the official forums had an amazing suggestion for this sort of thing. They wanted the legendary endging of Reach, or at least part of it, to be the intro cinematic from Combat Evolved, just remade in Reach's graphics.

You've no idea the amount of geek I experienced and let loose when I saw Dr. Halsey at the end. Don't feel bad, it's beyond human comprehension, only aliens and advanced dolphins can truly understand.

That trailer made me Halo-nerdgasm.

Six new SPARTANS, all with backstory and specializations and awesome new gameplay and cutscene footage and I'm pretty sure Emile is secretly Cole Train. And then there's Dr. Halsey, in the flesh. That part was like, "Oh my god holy shit gaaaaaaaaaah!"

28 days, guys.

EDIT: And I'm pretty sure that Cortana's going down the list of Noble Team members, and it's her that's talking. I say that because of Halsey saying that great minds think alike, seeing as Cortana is basically a virtual Halsey.

Yes, I did. It was one of the big reasons I like Halo 3, all the references and just the slight connection to the Halo lore. The live action trailer that came out shortly after this mentioned Insurrectionists, and more geek was released, but this was more comprehensible geek. It looks like Bungie's really digging in deep for their final Halo.

It's Dr. Halsey, in the flesh (er, polygons?)! I never thought we'd get to actually see her in a Halo game.

Only one thing I'm confused about:

It's been a while since I read the books, but wasn't Dr. Halsey unaware of the Spartan-III project until after Reach was invaded? I seem to recall she ran across a file named "S-III" on Col. Ackerson's personal computer when preparing to leave Reach. It was the first time she knew of such a project, as ONI kept it a closely guarded secret. How can Dr. Halsey know all about Noble team when she isn't even supposed to know such a project exists yet?

I read the book way back when it first came out so I remember it being good but I'm a little fuzzy on the details. I want to play Reach to "live" through that story and see what changes they make to it.
