I just want the witch to be playable. I hate how sometimes my team will get a witch in a spot where you can't avoid it and the other team can. It would be really cool too, sort of an opposite to the tank. Instead of taking an armories worth of bullets and 3-4 shotting the survivors you would one shot the survivors but only have something like 1000 hp.
So wait, do you want to be able to place the witch? Really, your turn would consist of finding a spot and spawning. Then you'd sit and cry until someone shoots you in the back of the head. May be useful for very patient players, but most people would pick a lame spot, then whine because they did zero damage on their witch spawn.
Agreed, I like the fact that you don't know what you're gonna get. Besides, taking a witch on because she can't be side-stepped adds more of a challenge, that's fun.

I like the idea of a zombie power cell, one that can revive or temporarily boost the power of zombies/infected.

I think adding infected dogs would be a welcome touch. I see them as having patchy fur, crazy fangs and can run really fast. Primary attack would be like a hunter pounce, but the survivor can hit A fast enough to knock it off. Special attack would be to howl and call in a few infected. The boomer calls in whole tons to whomever he hurls on, but the wolf would just call a bunch to that particular room. Has crazy build-up time like boomer bile, but still works.

I'm thinking of a leacher an Zombie thats super fast and can't jump...He claws you once and runs away steeling your health and using that health to fuel a Mana bar of some sorts to heal his zombie friends...
Somthing like that

I was thinking zombie animals, and possibly something that could poison a survivor.
You've got bleeding out, poison would be too annoying and over powered if every got infected by it and no one had whatever they needed to heal it with.

Lol, you know I'd never realised that smokers cut of team chat before. I know that sounds silly, but it just never occurred to me. Now I understand why I'm left hanging so often. Doh!
that's what party chat on xbl is for :)

my idea would be to have a zombie that can only claw, but it does like no damage unless it's clawing a survivor that's been hit by one of the other speical attacks of the zombies. so if it hits a survivor it does like 5 damage or something, but then if it hits a survivor that's hanging from a smoker tongue or is having it's nipples ripped of by a hunter or is covered in boomer bile, then it does way more. like tank whack damage or something.

I've had this idea for a while now. It's similar to a hunter in the sense that it pins down survivors, but instead of pouncing it tackles them to the ground. After tackling them, the infected has two options: One being to bite the survivor and run, causing a short-duration bleeding effect and paralysis (Not full-blown paralysis, just a general slowing-down of the survivor, possibly a lag between moving the mouse and actually turning). The other option is to simply imitate the hunter and slash at them.

I don't have a name for this infected yet, but "Tackler" seems good.

Well you have to remember that the reason behind the special infected was to induce teamwork and to punish lone wolves, so if any new infected were to be made, it would have to fit in with A. incapacitating survivors forcing other survivors to rescue them and B. fit in with the overall feel of the game.

For example, the screamer would have felt too out of place, a zombie in a straight jacket? I can understand why the attracting zombies bit went to the boomer because the screamer would have killed the overall tension of the game and the whole mutations in the zombie virus stuff.

So, we have pounced, constrict, blindess and attracting zombies, emo death witch and good old muscle.
Its hard to think of a good one to add that compliments the game rather than hinders.

Perhaps you could have something called a 'Spiker', if you have seen X man 3, theres a mutant who fights wolverine that can fire organic looking spikes, maybe you could have that who can fire spikes and pin a survivor to a wall or floor but has to be quite close to do it (no where near smoker ranger, maybe boomer vomit range)

Nice, I like the pin to wall with spikes idea. Also the notion of having Hunters cling to walls would be excellent; you could hide above doorways etc.

Here's an idea: a special zombie that infects a survivor with its attack, so that the survivor turns into a random special infected after a certain amount of time, unless they either heal themselves or take some pills.

This would need to be carefully balanced, obviously, but that's the general idea.

Does it really matter?
I had an idea for two, that will make the game more challenging for players without breaking it completely.

Grabber

A fast infected similar to the Hunter with a claw attack and with the special ability to grab a random item owned by the survivor. When holding an item its attacks are weaker.

The items stolen can only be either a clip of primary ammo, second pistol, medkit or grenade/molotov. Naturally grabber cannot use any of these items, but can drop them in hard (or impossible in the case of verus mode) reach areas.

Naturally the Grabber will drop the item it's carrying when killed, which then can be recovered (regradless of what was stolen it counts as a single item and can only be picked up by one survivor) with the exception of the grenade or molotov which will instantly detonate.

Slimer

A slow infected that secretes a sticky slime. The slimer can lay down a large puddle of the stuff by standing still and secreting it all at once, but the Slimer also leaves a trail of sticky footprints everwhere it goes. This slime can cover anything and slows down both survivors and infected as they pass through it, with the exception of the Tank and Witch.

It's melee attack can knock a survivor down, and if knocked down into the slime the survivor gets incapacitated has to be assisted up. The survivor can only use ONE pistol in this situation but the intital knock down won't cause the survivor to bleed out (unless the hit reduced the survivors health to 0).

When killed the slime will slowly bleed out of its corpse.

id think one that lays in wait underground or in a hole in the wall, and waits for the last survivor and comes out and grabs them Similar to a trapdoor Spider would lay in wait for its pray would be interesting

I don't think they can introduce a new character to play as. It would be like playing TF2 while they add a completely new character (keeping in mind that every character has a strength and weakness to another). If anything a new situation zombie would be possible, but the witch and tank work so nicely I don't see the need. Sorry if I ruined anyone's day.

Maybe that would be better as a specific level? One person gets randomly infected and you have to make the decision as to whether to kill them (and lose a team member) or to keep them alive with the potential to 'turn' after a certain (probably randomly generated) amount of time. At the end of the level there would be the cure; so it would be a race against time. There would probably have to be some other benefit to keeping them alive (otherwise they would probably always just be shot) such as decreased chance of boss attacks when they're alive, but the idea would be the same.

something like the wolf idea but a human zombie not an animal and used in a special game mode where the players really have to stick together because your UV lights (special game mode remember) aren't very strong and the wolf (best name for it) is damaged by UV radiation also the wolf could be called less zombie becuase it has more intelligence they hunt in packs and dont just running into your guns. maybe when you go through the level you catch sight of them and if you leave one guy behinde the wolfs will sluaghter them.
