Valve have said that a fourth infected MIGHT show up at launch. Or it will join in later on after the release.

But unlike Turtle Rock Studios, who is part of Valve, Valve themselves now have like taken a bit of control of L4D2 and started to add A LOT. Or so I have heard. So it's Valve now who throw in all kinds of goodies to L4D.

This is going to be in L4D2.
-5 New Campaigns (It's a total of 25 maps.)
-Over 20 New Guns (L4D1 had 8 weapons, including the pistol and throwables)
-3 New Special Infected (The Charger and Spitter dramatically change the pace of gameplay by making camping very hard for the Survivors, making the Survivors always have to keep moving, which is the whole purpose of the game)
-4 New Characters (4 New heavily detailed characters with explicit back story)
-New Game Mode (On top of Versus mode and Survival Mode)
-More diverse AI Director (A.I.D. 2.0)
-Melee Weapons (10 of them)
-Possible Left 4 Dead 1 Campaigns
-More Back Story (Something L4D1 lacked. Those people that missed that in the original will be pleased)
-New Ammo Types (Incendiary, Explosive, etc.)
-New Supplies (Adrenaline and Ammo Packs)
-More Zombies (Over DOUBLE the amount over the course of a campaign)
-Uncommon Common Infected
-Gibbing (A LOT OF GORE)
-Wandering Witch
-Rolling Crescendos (Make it so you're always on the move)
-Grahpic Quality Improvement (Ok, I just copied the text from a thread so I'm not sure what was the graphical update. My bet is the water.)

Oh dear Lord... I found a render of the Spitter.

http://www.shacknews.com/screenshots.x?gallery=12448&game_id=7589&id=138133#img138139

I CLOSE MY EYES YET THE IMAGE REMAINS

Watch out, big jpeg.

This comic sums up all my feelings for the Spitter better than I ever could.
Another big jpeg.

Obviously, I found the link on the VGCats website.

The Charger, The Spitter are announced, and there's at least one more coming. There is possibly a fourth but Valve says it might not make it into the final cut.

As for the Uncommon Common - Hazmat zombies (immune to fire), Mud Zombies (move on all fours, cover you with mud) and Bulletproof zombies (immune to bullets, funnily enough) have been mentioned.

I wish they would add zombified animals, like those cows on Blood Harvest. Imagine fighting one of those.. It'd make me shit my pants more than any Tank could.

There's also a "Uncommon-Common infected" which has a bullet-proff vest and will be pretty much immue to gunfire from the front, I've heard.

spitters are another. their a frigging terrifyingly grotesque vaguely pregnant thin woman with her windpipe ripped out. she sprays various body fluids at you, murdering campers with a glossy stare and a horrible screaming voice. awesome.

I'm slowly making my peace with L4D2 since they're adding so much

What sold me was the fact that during one level, the survivors are running away over a bridge while Air Force jets destroy the bridge behind them. And it's controlled by the Director.

Thats right, the Director now has Jets.

As long as they keep the old ones. If people in Louisiana are mutating different to people in whatever-the-hell-city-this-is-vile, then something is definitely wrong
Zombies existing at all is another good sign that something is seriously wrong.

It's 20 new weapons and items, not 20 new guns :)
10 new Melee weapons
The other are 10 new rifles and such.

We have already seen both Scar and the abomination named AK47. They said there where more too. Thank god for that at least. Still I wish the AK could go and rot. I have seen it in EVERY single modern ish looking game, I have had enough of that gun by now.

I'm not sure if they counted Fire ammo and Explosive ammo to the list either of Weapons.

Oh yea, we also gonna get a GRENADE LAUNCHER! Fuck yea! It got like 20 ish ammo and one per mag.

Edit: I should mention that we will also see all the old weapons too. In that video plasma666 posted you can see the old auto shotgun.

So all in all, L4D2 actually have enough content for a sequel in my eyes.

Charger and Spitter......both great......what oh what is going to be the third one?
Well rumor has it that it's going to be something called the "Spiker", but that could easily be a complete lie.

I know of one called the "Spitter," which is something akin to the Boomer in that it vomits on the players, but I think it acts as a corrosive DoT attack instead of a swarm summon. There are also the "Uncommon" infected, which will be unique to each campaign. The Charger is news to me (although I did see it in the trailer, I just thought it was a redesigned Tank).

The only resemblance between the Boomer and the Spitter is that they both have projectile attacks. The Spitter is able to launch it's spit from much farther away. Spitter goo covers an area in acid, and if you stay in that area you take damage over time.

Spitter goo is like the infected version of the molotov.
