Looks more like Sam Fisher than Max Payne to me.
Mind you, I am comparing Conviction and Max Payne 2, so maybe there is a bit of a difference in graphics processing.

I had forgotten that Remedy had sold the rights to Max Payne.

Which is actually a good thing, since at least they won't be able to say:
"This game is going to be a PC exclusive",
followed by:
"This game is going to be on every single platform. Except the PC, of course. We'd never do anything like that.".

I'm also guessing that the Take-Two's version will not avoid any connections in every way they can, to Finland.

I wonder if Mona will come back in this one to?
If I remember correctly she died in part 2.
Well, she also "died" in part one as well, if I remember correctly. I am not sure that proves anything...

OT: Well, it will be interesting to see what the game is like after all these years, but I don't think it will be as good as the originals. An integral part of the Max Payne experience was the heavy noir influences, and I am not sure placing it in a place like Sao Paulo will be able to give it the same "vibe". Or I could just be a blithering fanboy blinded by nostalgia. There is always that possibility.

Hope for what, exactly? A half-assed, rushed, generic, and pointless sequel that wouldn't get Noire if it got bitten by it?

I liked the fat, bald, bearded look of Max; it had a very 'life happens' feel to it. He's older, let himself go and depressed; I find that story very appealing. What I didn't like was the setting; a jungle? Really? Max Payne has always been very noire urban, the setting didn't fit. But I feel that his initial design did.

*Spoilers*

That being said I feel like the fat, bald, beard look would have worked better for the 2nd game since at the end of the first he finally gets his revenge and it doesn't change how he feels. In the 2nd he seemed very depressed, his fight had accomplished nothing. But by the end of it he comes to terms with it all so I feel like the 3rd one should have a more 'at peace' Max Payne. Anyway, that's just my take.

I was kinda diggin the bald (maybe not fat) Max.

Reminded me of a less racist Mel Gibson.

Opinion 1: Yay, they're making a new Max Payne! I loved that series!

Opinion 2: Oh COCK. The film already killed the series... Now they're making a new game with a different writer to dig it up and violate it even more?

I'm worried. That's all I have to say.

I'll keep an eye on it, but it's gonna take more than that to impress me,
I've been hurt too many times before!

Yay for fans being narrow-minded, unadventurous twats demanding conform to the status quo.

It's always nice to have another Sam Fisher.

Aw... I actually didn't mind overweight hobo-Sam. Mainly because there was a male protagonist that doesn't have a perfect body. Ah well, I'm just nitpicking.

Still though, very cautious about this game.
Do you mean hobo-Max, or are you talking about the first Conviction design for Sam Fisher? Because I liked that too. He turned into Vincent from Collateral in the final version which, whilst fucking cool, didn't really look like Sam Fisher. He's like a 6'0" fucking bear in Double Agent, yet he seems to lose height and retain a perfectly muscular (*he says matter-of-factly, and certainly not homoerotically*) body in Conviction.

The picture you guys have up is of a grunt I assume, or a story character. And Max's facial features are remarkably similar to what they were in Max Payne 2, so you can see the one with hair isn't him:

The real life guy is the guy who portrayed Max in the second game, and I think he's posing for a cutscene or a promo shot there, and the one overlaying it is a promotional artwork for Max Payne 3. Exactly same, just beardier and baldier.

It will be the first game in the Max Payne series to not be developed by Remedy Entertainment and written by Sam Lake, the creator of the series, which has stirred some doubt amongst fans as to how the it will stand up next to the previous installments.
Umm yeah. Thats not Max Payne then. Might as well post some fanfic.

Now that's more like it. /ragemode off

I hope they can do Max justice now that Remedy isn't developing any more, I really like that guy.

...in a totally heterosexual way. I guess just like hardboiled dicks. Yeah that sounded manly.

I was just about to mention how misleading this article is, considering that the two screenshots show him with AND without hair. I was actually looking forward to this game because he looked like an overweight mess. It makes him look more realistic considering what he had been through. I hope the picture with hair is some sort of flashback level or something.

Hobo-Max. But early-Conviction Sam Fisher was also pretty cool.

I'm sure the one with hair isn't him. Honestly, from the game's art work and a couple of older screens, the facial features seem quite different - the nose in particular.

Balding-train-wreck-Max made sense, if you thought about it. The man was completely physically and mentally devastated, hooked on painkillers and unable to deal with the death of the two most important women in his life (though we'll have to wait and see about Mona). Without his job as a cop to anchor him, I could completely see how he'd just up and let himself go.

Jungle? São Paulo is the 6th largest city in the world. I've been there and i can say that, if they do it right, they can do justice to max payne 1 and 2.

I just hope Max won't be killing drug dealers in favelas. Modern warfare 2 and other games did that already.
