Looks like you didn't pay attention to the ending of Max Payne 2, much like Rockstar. The Rogue Wolf said:Balding-train-wreck-Max made sense, if you thought about it. The man was completely physically and mentally devastated, hooked on painkillers and unable to deal with the death of the two most important women in his life (though we'll have to wait and see about Mona). Without his job as a cop to anchor him, I could completely see how he'd just up and let himself go.
Don't forget my personal favorite, Lord and Ladies. Good...GOOD!Shoggoth2588 said:I wonder if they have Address Unknown and/or Capitan Baseball-bat Boy in Sao Paulo...
Not really a good thing, Rockstar can't program for PCs for shit, it may as well end up being console only. Which is a bit of a kick in the balls for all the fans of the classics.BENZOOKA said:I had forgotten that Remedy had sold the rights to Max Payne.
Which is actually a good thing, since at least they won't be able to say:
"This game is going to be a PC exclusive",
followed by:
"This game is going to be on every single platform. Except the PC, of course. We'd never do anything like that.".
I'm also guessing that the Take-Two's version will not avoid any connections in every way they can, to Finland.
Ahh. Yeah, it's been a while since I've played Max Payne, can't you tell?kman123 said:Buhhhhhh Mona Sax was in number one, albeit briefly. Twin sister of Lisa Punchinello, who was the wife of that guy who got shot by Nicole's group. THEN Mona got shot...and la di da she popped up in number 2.Robot Overlord said:I don't understand... who is "she"? as far as I remember there was only Max' wife and some chick who injected you with valkyr in Max Payne. You are very much mistaken...in number one NICOLE was the one who injected you.Sean Strife said:If I'm not mistaken, Mona was the chick who injected with you Valkyr.
Actually, she doesn't die in any difficulty other than the easiest, which you are forced to play the first time through. Take it from the guy who's completed the game over a dozen times.HankMan said:Art Axiv said:If I remember correctly she died in part 2.Actually it's if you finished the game on the highest difficulty level- she survivedFerrious said:Only if you did it wrong...

If you finish the game on New York Minute, the final cut-scene plays for a fraction of a second longer and you find out that Mona survives.Art Axiv said:REALLY?Ferrious said:Only if you did it wrong...Art Axiv said:If I remember correctly she died in part 2.

Yeah, clearly Tom Clancy ripped off Max Payne.danhere said:Didn't read all the posts, but why does that look familiar...? Oh wait. This guy.

I think you're missing the point. These really are comments based simply on the character design, which is boring as shit, taken from the three or four character design archetypes for male leads flying around these days. No one's saying Fisher came first, just that he's probably the most recognizable of this particular design right now. I'm more than familiar with Max Payne, and I was excited at the prospect of playing an older Payne that gives us maybe something new as far as main character designs. What can I say? I'm sick of playing young-to-middle aged white guys with short hair lean bodies and just enough stubble.Starke said:Yeah, clearly Tom Clancy ripped off Max Payne.danhere said:Didn't read all the posts, but why does that look familiar...? EDIT: look, guys, I know it's cheep and easy to say, oh look what this property is ripping off, but could you please at least roughly date check first? I realize this is probably the first time you're seeing this character, seeing as it's coming up on the tenth anniversary of the original game's release, but this whole "clearly it's ripping off this other property I know" speaks to a kind of disregard that really reinforces a lot of very poor stereotypes.
Nine years ago, no one was saying that Sam Fisher was a ripoff of Max Payne. Why? Because they're very different characters. If anything Conviction is more in the range of Ubisoft trying to find ways to turn Sam Fisher into Jack Bauer. But neither of these characters are even remotely similar to Max Payne beyond simple aesthetics of them being a white male with brown hair and a stubble... great... because if that's your only litmus, then clearly Sam Fisher's ripping off a lot more than just Max Payne.
To be fair that was the character design to begin with. The beer belly baldy in a wife beater was a bit of a departure. Do I wish there was more variety in general? Yes. Hell, I'd even take that version of Max Payne, but not with an established character.AgentNein said:I think you're missing the point.
