Ok ... I'm going to have to go back and replay ME1&2 all over again aren't I. I don't have any playthroughs where I saved Ashley and I'm an idiot. No way am I putting up with Kaidan being a Spectre. The whiney bastard does not deserve it! Especially if Garrus doesn't make Spectre at all!

I'm so sorry Ashley, you were a badass, I'm coming back for you! FemSpectres unite!

Ashley? Ashley who?

OH! You mean that xenophobe that I traded for Kaiden? Why does SHE keep getting attention?
Because the only ME character less interesting than Kaiden is Jacob. I don't necessarily agree 100%, but it's what most people think.
Pretty much that. While I don't hate Kaiden like most seem to (he gets a bad rap for having the voice of Carth Onasi *shudder*), he was about as interesting to talk to as my toaster. And at least my toaster makes bread taste delicious.

Everything, from the let out hair and the face makeover to the sexualised amour is to make her more attractive.
Which is exactly the problem.

"We let her hair down and gave her sex appeal."

They changed her for the express purpose of making her 'sexy'. I do wish Matt Rhodes and not Derek Watts was the art lead for that series...
So?

I must have missed the memo where it is illegal for women to let their hair down, or choose to appear "sexy".

I find it truly baffling that people are upset over Ashley's rather modest appearance compared to Jack's leather straps or Miranda's wedgie suit.

I disagree. I think Kaiden just had a very subtle character. And even no character is better than Ashley...

Before people start bitching about it being tight, at least she's wearing more than half a string (points at women's armor in fantasy games)

Besides, all of the armor in ME has been tight since the beginning. They all have shields, remember? Which begs the question "wouldn't it be better to have baggier clothes with lots of pockets"? but whatever.

I swear, I've never seen a community made up of mostly males complain so much so quickly about women in skimpy/tight outfits.

However, I would like to complain about how much that doesn't look like Ashley.
And I'd like to complain about how my wife doesn't look the same as when I married her so I know how you feel...

Yeah, she didn't strike me as that kind of character in 1. And we had Miranda and Jack in 2. Another case of "We have a female character that isn't completely sexualized? Fix that immediately".

I appreciate the screenshot, Bioware. I've missed Ash.

Although for some reason, I seem to remember seeing that picture before. 0.o

At least she looks somewhat better than she was in the first two MEs. Too bad the ***** croaked in the first game.

I honestly don't understand why anyone cares about the boob-armor. Very few women I've met- including ones in the military- would argue against this. Indeed, most of the ones I've mentioned this to went "sweet ME decided to stay with having women in armor look like women and not just the same armor but in 'soft colors'."

I'd like to complain about how much that doesn't look human.

You misunderstand.

I never said it was 'illegal for women to let their hair down or choose to appear sexy'.
I said my issue was how the developer's explicit intent was to render her a 'sexy' character, effectively imposing these aspects rather than allowing the character to exhibit them through less manipulative means.
- You know, like Ashley actually did in the original Mass Effect.

As for Jack, Miranda (and Samara), I actually find more reasonable grounds to argue for their choice of attire. Jack is essentially a subversion of traditional, heteronormatively institutionalised sex appeal (although the dungaree bra is a silly bit of censorship); Miranda is a character who projects her perceived flawlessness partly as a means to an end, partly due to a need for recognition; and Samara?
Samara is Asari.
...okay, that's not entirely fair. To be honest, I interpret Samara's plunging neckline as a challenge to wrongdoers, inviting them to attempt take her life before she can deal swift judgement. Her heart is exposed, etc.

At the end of the day, I don't object to the idea of Ashley dressing more casually. I just object to the motives behind it.

Seriously Bioware? At least keep the same general models.
Oh well, I never liked her anyone. Had her
killed off
in ME1

I'm sorry, but new Ashley looks retarded. I didn't dislike her in the first game, but I don't regret...
leaving her behind
...if this is what awaits me.

And yes, I romanced Kaidan. Haters gonna hate.

...That's Ashley? I thought that was what's-her-name. Miranda? The woman from Cerberus. You know, after taking a 2x4 to the face a few times. God, she looks so dizzy and confused in that screenshot. Hell, it looked like her entire ethnicity has changed but if I remember the books correctly, that's something easily changed in the ME universe.

*spoiler (no, I will not block this out since it's a ME1 spoiler)*

Maybe I shouldn't have killed her off as often as I did in ME1...I liked her better than Kaiden but really they were both characters I couldn't stand. I'm sure they're less insufferable in ME3 since they're going to have Specter status.

the armor is OK, maybe she did a stealth-course and prefers armor that does not get caught on things.
i have more problems with the hair, it seems highly impractical to have hair that can fall into your eyes in combat. why isn't there an option to have normal hairstyles for running around on the Normandy and a different one for combat.
and no this is not an issue with Miranda since she is biotic and can just levitate her hair in place.

then again i don't give a flying fuck about Ashley, ***** is dead.

Wait. Wasn't Williams black? Or at least black-ish?

When did she start looking so caucasian?
