I dunno man, what happened to the Netherworld.
That place was really cool and all, apart from, well, you know, THERES SHIT ALL WORTH GETTING IN THE NETHERWORLD AND IT PISSES ME THE FUCK OFF!
Sorry, but the Netherworld is really awesome to venture into with a friend and bad equipment (chaos and tears are guaranteed) but what do you get? A couple of glowing stones? They really need to work on an update for that place. It has so much wasted potential.
Until then, fuck Minecraft and fuck Notch.
Relax. If you're seriously going to stick the middle finger at someone because of an incomplete feature in an incomplete game, you need to recall that you're a BETA TESTER for an INCOMPLETE GAME.
How long has the game been in Beta exactly? What was it they said? Not long until they are out of Beta?
Oh, and its not like you paid for the Beta, right?
I admit my post was over the top, I think Minecraft is a great game and its a bunch of fun, but that argument is bullshit. "Oh, the games in Beta!" Yeah. Well, we still all paid for it and it should have been out of Beta ages ago according to what Notch/Mojang have said again and again.
They said that it'll be released officially (read: out of beta) mid-November (don't remember the exact date). This has been the official plan for months now.
The game's been in beta for about five months-ish, now, and will be out in four. That seems fair.
If you didn't know that there was a declared release date for months now, that's YOUR fault.
Hey, lets just ignore what the person im responding to said and reply to an argument he didnt make!
How many dates have Notch and Mojang missed by now? How many updates are late? A damn lot. Thats what im saying.
But hey, dont take my word on it. Lets just leave this for now. And when the release date in mid November gets pushed back, think of this thread.
That's actually NOT what comes across. At all. Consider proof-reading your posts.
And yes, you paid for beta. Like it or not, you purchased a game that was currently in the state of alpha/beta. Thus, you paid for beta. Thus, you are allowed to make suggestions, but you're being stupid and childishly impatient if you complain about incomplete features.
I went to a place to get my car fixed the other day. The guy said they only worked if you paid up front, so I did. He told me to come back in 3 days, and that my car would be fixed by then. 3 days later, I appeared at the place and low and behold, next to no work had been done. I thought this was disagreeable, I wanted my money back and I sure as shit wont be going to that place again.
But fuck, I guess im JUST BEING CHILDISH! Right?
You are being childish when you employ this "I defend Minecraft no matter what, Notch defense force on the way" attitude. Jesus, is a video game really so important to you that you cant even admit the devs broke a bunch of promises?
Im just saying, dude. They have pushed the release dates back further and further, and done not much work since it blew up, not compared to what they could be doing. Sorry if I think thats behavior we shouldnt encourage. You defend Minecraft as if its the only thing of value in your life.
Not a similar comparison. A similar comparison would be buying a prototype vehicle, and being told "It's not done, but we're researching new parts all the time! You can drive it, but it's missing pieces like the radio, cigarette lighter, and the like. We'll be updating them as we get them. We think we'll have it done by this date, but keep in mind that this industry is infamous for pushing back actual finish dates!"
Basically, that car comparison was never going to work.
And no, I'm not defending this as if it's life itself. I don't know where you get that idea. Heck, I don't even play all that often. However, "Fuck Minecraft and fuck Notch" is the type of sentiment that tends to piss me off to absolutely no end, mostly because I maintain that Minecraft has the worst fanbase that anything has ever been cursed with. No other fanbase literally PROTESTED THE PROJECT BECAUSE IT WASN'T BEING UPDATED. Basically, I feel a knee-jerk response every time someone bites the hand that feeds them, and invariably for such ridiculously minute details that can be modded out anyways.
However, no one's brought up "It won't be released in time" before. Probably because that claim is inherently flawed. Due to the nature of Minecraft, Notch reserves the right to, at any moment, apply all his current work to it and say "It's done!" Boom, instant release. He could do that today if he felt so inclined. I have no doubts that the official release will happen on the day of, simply because he could have released it during its alpha stage, and it would have been, for all intents and purposes, "complete".
Also, what broken promises? I don't consider being late due to technical difficulties to be a broken promise, so I have no idea what you're speaking of.
