Dude. It's software. Software that's still in development, apparently. Notch and Mojang just happen to be using the whole fucking world as beta testers. And when software is in beta, developers reserve the right to slash features and implement features left-and-right. Notch himself is a fan of the agile programming paradigm, and is sort of applying this on Minecraft, albeit haphazardly. He's also a greedy-ass and makes people pay for the beta of the game, ensuring that the real version will cost much more. Eh. It's still a fun game.

Ok, so I just read Notch's blog about this. Boy oh boy and I'm scared. It really is weeping angels meet I don't know what!

I think I'm playing on Peaceful after 1.8 update until I can find myself some diamonds enough for some diamond armor in my current game world.... AHHHHHH!!! *goes and contemplates obsidian fortresses*

Yeah well hes a dick for not holding true to his word, isnt the first time either, wont be buying his games again (escapist goes apeshit, several people jump on me and try to beat me to death, some guy ridicules me for getting so worked up about a game, my statements are somehow over the top and should be punishable by law)

I dislike that Notch has, seemingly, pretended that The Slender Man/Weeping Angels mythos isn't a direct influence of this mob (if i'm being generous, personally I think it is ripped off point blank without the smallest amount of originality). IIRC he only called the things "Endermen" after a Reddit user pointed out the similarities, and its only the name that is a reference to the slender man...rather than say, the long arms, the tall figure, the teleportation, the black garb etc etc.

I just hope that no one is under the impression that Notch came up with some new horror creature because what he stole it from his relatively obscure.
