I don't have a problem with religion, I just hate people to be wrong and I have to correct them. I basically am intolerant of stupidity. I'm not saying religious people are stupid, just the ones that don't accept the quite obvious facts.Internet Kraken said:From what I have seen, most so called intellectuals can't tolerate religion at all.
Ofcourse it does not disprove something like that, there is always the possibility that something like that is actually true. It can't be completely be falsified. Therefore it is not scientific. Sure it can be true, but it can't be researched scientifically.nova18 said:What if a higher being also created evolution.
For something that can create life, Im sure it wouldnt be a problem for animals to gradually adapt over the generations. Evolution cannot disprove a higher being, so maybe we should all drop the religious debates and talk about that little cat monkey skeleton that the thread is about.

I've never understood why they yell at me (us) about going to hell. For one I don't believe in it so its already ruled out. And two, by shouting at people are they going to get themselves into their heaven? Probably not. SO WHY DO IT?
What's funny is that the people I find to be intolerant are you. The idiots who think they are smarter than others because of religion. You complain about them trying to force you into religion, yet you do the same thing by forcing the idea of evolution upon them.
Don't be a hypocrite.
I thought I should give you a second chance but now I just think you are stupid, do you even know what hypocrisy and ignorance are? We never said every religious person wants to convert us, we said that the ones that have tried annoy us. Also, we never forced our opinions of evolution on anyone... who? Come on, who? You clearly thought that we had other wise you wouldnt just take an uninformed shot in the dark like that because that would make you an idiot... or would you?
Get off your high horse. You say the Christians that try to convert you are annoying? Well people who try to convert you to evolution are just as annoying. My point is that the Christians that try to convert you are the minority. So complaining about them is pointless. You are judging a religion based entirely upon the actions of one small group of people.
Also it's obvious that the people here are forcing the ideas of evolutions of others. Maybe it's because they keep saying things like "This will finally make all those stupid creationists shut up". I wish the people forcing the ideas of evolution on others where the minority, but they're not. From what I have seen, most so called intellectuals can't tolerate religion at all.
I have to admit, you're pretty good at debate Judo, but your possition is still weak. In the same way there is no Atheist history there is also no Christian history, there are simply Christians and atheists in history. I've no more connection to the Crusaders than you do, which was the point I was making by bringing up atrocities committed by atheists. The Crusades are a commonly recognized Christian atrocity, while there were other groups involved the Christians are the ones recognized to be in the wrong, so my defense of them specifically when you made the reference was reasonable. If your view of the Crusades is different then you are in a very small minority and shouldn't assume that people will recognize it without explanation.Evil Jak said:Hmm, except this Kraken guy is apparently an atheist so does that make your comment a fail? I think it might. Also, that is 2 atheists and ET (Although I still dont know what ET did that was so bad.). Also, there is no such thing as Atheist history because that is just called history whereas you can get the history of christianity... and it wasnt just christians who were involved in the crusades so stop being so self-centred. Christians always think that Atheist dont like them when they say religion, honestly do you think christianity is the only religion?
That makes it seem likely we descended from them, but it doesn't make it 100% fact.pffh said:COME ON PEOPLE. Now all together: A scientific theory is as close to the truth as we will ever get! It's not like the theory of evolution hinged on this discovery... it's "just" a potentially useful piece of paleontology: A little more information about our common ancestors.
PS: I wonder how many people here realise the difference between the fact of evolution, and evolutionary theory.
God I needed to get that out of my system.
Actually yes it has we share 98% of our genes with orangutans and other high % with other great apes. Besides you only have to look at our chromosomes and compare them to the chromosomes of the great apes and you can see that they are almost identical yourself.sharks9 said:It's not 100% proven that humans evolved from monkeys, which is what I meant. Such a thing does not exist in science. There is always the unfalsifiable option that it's something completely different then we think it is. We didn't descend from them we descended from a common ancestor that's why our genomes are so similar.sharks9 said:That makes it seem likely we descended from them, but it doesn't make it 100% fact.pffh said:COME ON PEOPLE. I would be happy to explain myself. Whilst his summary of the creationist argument was crude and satirical, it was also completely apt...that is what is believed by many. I would also like to point out that a priest is in no better position to decide how the bible should be interpreted than the rest of us, I would also argue that it doesn't need interpretation at all...it's very blunt about what it asserts to be gospel. Frankly if you think that evolution and creationism as explainations for the world can co-exist without any logical problems, you probably haven't thought it through. The bible is infact the basis for the Christian belief system, the fact that even the followers are willing to trivialise what it says is laughable. Imagine that God insisted that all houses were only allowed to be made of dry sand. After realising that God wasn't preaching sense, you give up and build yourself a shack from wood...because these are modern times and God probably didn't mean it...you see what I'm saying?VZLANemesis said:How is believing in both not to take either seriously? Do your priests ask you to take the bible LITERALLY? because ours were more "actual" in that they did believe in science and of what could be proven. Not believing in evolution is fucking absurd by any means.Sexual Harassment Panda said:Is there a disclaimer in the bible that says not to take it literally? The bible isn't meant to be taken literally so yeah, 7 days, maybe not, but how else would you have explained it to people 2000 years ago?H.R.Shovenstuff said:Because one idea is founded on scientific discovery and the other on an invisible sky man who magic'd everything into being.ffxfriek said:im ubberly offended. im catholic and i believe in creationism WITH WITH evolution. why cant they exist together? in peace and harmony bla bla blaH.R.Shovenstuff said:Suck on it, Christians!!!!
It could have been a way to simplify things for ignorant people, that's what they taught me in school (christian opus-dei funded school ^^) but yeah, I later became kind of an atheist, I'm more of a sciense man, but I do believe that both theories can exist together not the "Intelligent Design" or however it is that US christian fanatics wanna teach it at schools, that is just plain absurd, but that there is a god that created things... that later evolved?
I look forward to more news on this...would also like to know why they kept it secret for so long.
No bias? "the other on an invisible sky man who magic'd everything into being."
That doesn't seem to want to make the other argument seem ridiculous and therefore dismiss it in any way now does it?
I believe they "kept the secret" in order to make sure they weren't saying random non-facts around only to then realize that in was in fact a fake or simply a lemur-like animal that exists in the region. Seems pretty logical to me.
you've read the entire Bible? I admit in the Old Testament God is terrifying at times but what about the New Testament?murphy7801 said:yes the bible if read with a not religious eye makes god to a fairly monstrous character who is flawed with all the flaws humans who made him.
But then extraterrestial life would exist and religion would still be flawed. Well more flawed anyway XDaww yea said:thats quite obviously a baby alien skeleton that found its way underground

Oh, if only you knew about the crusades? Whats that... you do? Well, this doesnt make sense... why would you be complaining about people saying relevant things about religion rather than people prancing around the world murdering people... Yeah, do I need to say more?
Way to be ignorant.
Modern society has advanced, religion included. So I don't go around blaming Christians for the crusades. Mainly due to the fact that the modern Christians where not in the fucking crusades.
This would be like me judging Germans based on the actions of the Nazis.
So no apology for falsely accusing me of ignorance? and youre point is? I never said mordern day christians have anything to do with the crusades... other than their religions blood drenched history.
If you do have a point then your original post was so convoluted it was hard to find it.
the new testament was made so long after the birth christ if he was born at all you might as discount the whole thing really though yes god does get bit personality changesharks9 said:you've read the entire Bible? The history of the christian religion is not relevant if you are tracing it back to the fucking crusades. Ask any Christian person what they think of the crusades. Almost every single one of them would agree that they where a series of pointless feuds.Evil Jak said:Internet Kraken said:Oh yes mighty overlord. My stupidity is clear. Glad that you see your folly. Well, there is alot of truth behind evolution and well... we all know about religion. Also you know I dont judge christians solely on them being bloody annoying when doing themselves some converting, I also take into consideration their history and actions. Basically everything that is important when judging something.
Also, I dont think a creationists first thought when they see the title "New "missing link" for evolution" is going to be "Wow, I bet this forum is going to have nothing about creationists". And how many people have come to your house preaching evolution? None? Thought so.
