Cheers mate, I'll have a look through some of them. :)
Btw, is Origin a new album from Evanescance? I've never heard of it.

Ana Kefr is amazing. So many different style mixed in. It's definitely my album of the year for 2011, by a long shot.

P.s. should have specified: I'm mostly into metal. I like dancey stuff, Deadmau5 and the others you mentioned, are fun to party along to with others. But, when I'm alone and want to concentrate on the music, I'll pick metal. My bad :)
Origin is fairly old, I don't think Evanescence have released anything new for ages (actually, I think hearing they were on a hiatus or something - I used to have Origin anyway before it got stolen, along with The Open Door).

Anyhow, your OP suggests that you'd probably do best with concept albums, since in my experience you really need to hear the entirety of the album to really get it and enjoy it. Though I'm the sort who tends to enjoy everything on an album anyway :p. Regardless, although these are kind of varying in their styles (you may enjoy some but not all), these are the albums I'd recommend to you, and advise you listen to them all (with an open mind if you're only into certain music genres :p):

Gorillaz - Plastic Beach
30 Seconds To Mars - This Is War
Linkin Park - A Thousand Suns

My Chemical Romance -
listen to both The Black Parade and Danger Days, as they are actually different styles anyway as the band have evolved and changed over time.

Plan B - The Defamation Of Strickland Banks
Muse - The Resistance
Evanescence released a new album the day before you posted this FYI. It's self titled and rather good.

I've actually got a Thousand Suns, and thought it was brilliant. Individually, the songs aren't that great, but together, there's certain sounds, riffs, vocals that keep popping up. It's fantastic.
I've also got Plastic Beach. But, I haven't given it a fair go yet. A few songs when I can spare the time, and I moved onto something else.
Will give it a go now though. Cheers mate.

Children Of Bodom? Just their old stuff, e.g. anything before Hate Crew Deathroll.

Maybe The Word Alive.
I agree. Hatebreed, Follow the Reaper, and Something Wild are absolutely mint.
I'm not that into CoB anymore, I've listened to them half to death, but I still respect their music.
Shame they couldn't keep that particular style going....

Holy Fuck. After the first two, I was totally not expecting that.

@theseworlds: No, the Ana Kefr song I listened to was called The Burial Tree...

Just listened to Alaska by Between The Buried and Me...After an amazing intro I was pretty stunned to hear the insanity of the rest of the song lol. Metal is definitely not my preferred genre...

Except these guys. These guys are awesome:

Also, I just checked out Destrage...they are awesome, how have I never come across them before?

Ahoy hoy. I've been going through music, and found its rather bland all of a sudden. I've listened to it all to death.
What do you recommend?

I'm mostly into albums that have to be listened to as a whole to fully appreciate it. One or two songs worth listening to, and I don't see the point.
I'm talking albums like:
Ana Kefr - The Burial Tree
Devin Townsend Project - Deconstruction
Between the Buried and Me - anything from Alaska onwards
The Ocean - Heliocentric/Anthropocentric
NAMI - Fragile Alignments

Apart from this, I really dig bands that incorporate a strong harmony between their instruments. No chuggy-chuggy stuff.
By this, I mean bands like:
Dreamshade
The Human Abstract (except Midheaven. That album was putrid)
Misery Signals
Born of Osiris

For discussion purpose, do you have similar tastes, and why? What do you look for in music?
If I had to answer, I'd say, I look for music I can study, music that takes a few listens to fully appreciate it, and then a few more to fully enjoy it.

Post away! :)

EDIT: I'm into metal. I like just about any genre, but metal comes out on top for me every time. Probably should have specified that from the beginning...
I'm going to play captain obvious here, but Dream Theater? Their works are usually top notch, and if I had to reccommend any, I'd go with Octavarium, where all the songs are excellent and the album as a whole is a masterful piece in creativity and composition. Also, Porcupine tree, Opeth (The album Damnation is MAGIC), Coheed and Cambria, Crimson Glory (Really awesome 80s prog metal band), Evergrey, Fair to Midland (Crazy weird, but awesome stuff), Fates Warning, Kiuas (Like the perfect blend of coffee brands, but with metal subgenres) and Queensryche.

I simply assumed you're into prog

Yes perhaps I should have put some sort of warning on that post after the first two. :D

Do they have a song called The Burial Tree? haha, I'm so confused.

Between the Buried and Me is a lot like that. They'll play something absolutely beautiful, followed by insane, really heavy music. A perfect example of this would be for their song Mordecai. It stars off heavy as all shit, but it changes suddenly, and it is absolutely heart-warming by the end. You get used to it. :)

And yes, Destrage is pretty good. They're pretty rocky, but have metal elements. Makes me want to jump around and sing along.

Mastodon sounds interesting. My mate is always trying to talk them up and telling me I should listen to them. I don't, simply to toy with him. But that actually sounded alright. Cheers mate.

I am really into prog. Most of the bands I put up fall into that genre. Probably should've put that in the OP. Ah well.
I've always wondered about Dream Theatre. Everyone seems to know about them though, so I've kinda looked the other way. (nothing popular can be good, right? :p ).
The rest of the bands, bar Coheed and Cambria and Opeth, I've never heard of. Plenty of material to sink my teeth into. Thanks mate. :)

No problemo, but to be fair, bar Fair to midlands and Evergrey, most of the bands there are well known, hence stuff like Dream Theater and Queensryche. But yeah, Dream Theater. Trust me, those guys simply KNOW what they're doing with their music, and sitting down to actually listen to any of their pieces is a delight.

Oh no, I lie...It's called Thaumatrope, my bad.

With regards to Mastodon, their latest stuff is a lot milder; much slower and softer sounds compared to the likes of Blood Mountain...I personally prefer the faster, heavier stuff but it's still good.

Oh, here's a band that you may like. Or you may not...I dunno. Here's a song off of HORSE the Band's most prog album, Desperate Living:

Glad to see someone recommend Edge of Sanity, love Dan Swanö.

I would also recommend Green Carnation's "Light of Day, Day of Darkness" if you like those long, conceptual tracks as it's an hour long.

In terms of concept albums, my personal favorite is Ayreon's "The Human Equation", which is probably lighter than what you're looking for, but I think it tells a really interesting story, and it's something to check out.

Think I'm actually gonna spend some time looking up all the music I've forgotten about haha.

Any Mastodon album.

Porcupine tree is great aswell their most recent album was a 2 disc concept album.

Also Pain of Salvation are fantastic and I swear most of their albums are concepts, so you have to listen to the whole thing to get it.

I'm really digging the video you posted. Reminds me of Dillinger Escape Plan mixed with.... something I can't really pin down. Anyway, the important thing is, I like it. :)
Might have to give Mastadon a listen too.
My iPod certainly is going to get a mighty workout. haha

I've gotta say, I really liked Fair to Midland. Haven't heard Evergrey yet.
I must be living under a rock. I seriously haven' t heard of most of them.
Glad I have now though.
Maybe I'll have to reconsider Dream Theatre. I haven't really heard anything bad about them (which I didn't even think of haha)

Someone here needs some Progressive Death Metal.

Try
Opeth - Blackwater Park (progprogprog)
Devil Sold His Soul - Blessed & Cursed (this and the next one mix post-hardcore with post-metal. p.cool)
Amia Venera Landscape - The Long Procession
Porcupine Tree - In Absentia
Tool - Lateralus
Dir En Grey - Dum Spiro Spero
Deftones - White Pony (because any music list without Deftones is incomplete)
Mastodon - Leviathan
Neurosis - Through Silver In Blood (sludgesludgesludge)

Wow, I'm surprised you like it to be honest...A lot of metal fans detest HORSE the Band...

Desperate Living is incredible for it's sheer creativity... but you should at least check out A Natural Death too, because it's also amazing.

Ha, funny you should mention Dillinger Escape plan...I haven't listened to them in yeeeeeaaars.

Another band who could pique your interest now that I know you like HORSE:

When I'm done with you, you're iPod's not going to know what hit him!

Holy shit, I'd completely forgotten about White Pony..and Deftones in general. God, I'm a terrible person for doing that.

I have a Dir En Grey mix CD that a friend gave me years ago...no idea what any of the songs are called or what albums they're from but I loved it when I was younger...I think I'd still like them now, although I've disliked the newer stuff I've heard.
