Either way, I think over the coming months Lulzsec will slowly find themselves ground down as companies upgrade their security.
The problem is, if that happens they'll claim 'HURR DURR OUR JOB HAS BEEN DONE', which still makes them seem superior.

They're just smug arrogant people, you can tell from their mere attitude that they're not pleasant people and I think their romanticized 'doing crimes for the right cause' view is a bit backwards, but that's just my opinion
No, they ain't. They know they are doing it for a laugh.

Gah, they don't even try and make up a good reason. Its all just for a laugh, or because they can. There is no overbearing goodness or rightness. They know they aren't doing it to make the world a better place. They are just doing it to be jackasses.

The only people who romanticize LolzSec are the people complaining about them.

They aren't misguided.
They aren't misinformed.
They aren't here to make you feel better.
They aren't fighting some invisible war.
They aren't trying to make the world a better place.

They are here to hack, cause a fuss, and make the world piss themselves over nothing.

That's LolzSec. They do it for the Lolz. LITERALLY. The only people fueling their antics are the people kicking up a ***** fit over it.
So they're basically doing it for the sake of being evil, more or less.

And you can't reason with them
You can't make them stop
You can only hope that when you get caught in their crosshairs that they don't destroy your life too much.
All that's just peachy, I suppose you could try to ignore them, but the things they do seem to be beyond ignoring.

stealing information, passwords and personal info is not "nothing"

If it is nothing, than prove it to us. right now i want you to post the information and pass's to every site you visit, i want your credit card information, i want your facebook password. please, show us how harmless it all is.
Didn't you hear? Nothing bad matters unless it affects you personally.
I like the way you think, broski. ;) That seems to be the theme today, doesn't it?
It has saddened me to see a couple posts in this thread which essentially read, "I don't care it's not affecting me" to "I'm happy because I don't like xyz company and they deserve it".
for what its worth, you'd make twilight sparkle very proud.

edit: or whichever pony that is, i only seen the show 2 times.
My avatar is THE GREAT AND POWERFUL TRIXIE!

While I'm sure they'll never actually read this thread, I think people are reacting badly when they express what they'd do if they actually met the hackers in real life. I'm not against what they say they will do, but we need to quietly acknowledge potential targets and not spazz out and rage about Lulzsec, since they're doing it for the lulz.

Now why doesn't Anonymous attack them?

They are just black hats at this point.
I agree compleatly, anonymous, if your out there, and we know you are cos your everywhere, take these guys down, what anonymous does is always for the greater good, while i dont usually agree with their methods, i cant deny their cause and that they get things done, lulzsec are just assholes for the sake of being assholes, you would be doing us all a favour.
yes, because when they attacked the epilepsy forums, bullied that girl, defaced hip hop websites with racial slurs and hate speech, and attacked that OTHER girl for not showing her tits, they where doing it for the greater good.

seriously?
alright fair point, but as the extra credits ep on anon stated, anyone can say they're anonymous, the sect of anonymous that do the stuff you talked about i do not support, obviously, but alteast some of them do do good.

However, I do agree that people need to stop loudly freaking out over this and just quietly bring attention to potential targets so people can change their passwords and prepare.
Let em rant and rave, keeps the thread bumped so other escapists that missed it and may have an account could become aware of the hacks and protect themselves.

hackers again? who cares? This is getting old now.
i care because this hacking actually affects me... i have accounts registered with Bethesda.

and now they are fucking with a game i actually play. fucking assholes clearly never had a mission against Sony, they just want to piss off the gamers.

I have a PS3 and it narked me a lil bit when they were after sony. And i'm sure you care about your personal account. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to offend you, I'm just expressing annoyance at the whole hacker thing. I apologize for the "Who cares" part of my previous comment, i wasn't meaning who cares about them attacking Bethesda, I was meaning who cares about hackers any more. Once again, I apologize.
i wasnt mad at you or anything. i was just saying that if people dont hear about these assholes, then they dont know whether or not their personal information is at risk.

and i love that picture :D

They never said they did to quote one of there latest twitters:
"If you want ethics, go cry to #Anonymous. True lulz fans, stay tuned in as the next day or two brings much entertainment. Sailing has begun."
ya they said that now... but back when they were exclusively hacking Sony, they made it sound like Sony had wronged their customers or something, and that they were being punished.

after a month though i think it became clear that they are just doing it to hurt anyone that uses these services

If they ever go after Steam...

This is getting way out of hand, there are no "Lulz" coming from these acts people. At least with Annonymous they usually had an agenda of some kind. But these are just rogue hackers who wont stop until someone stops them.

Wait, in what way will this help destroy Sony? And...

My god, this group isn't even internally consistent.
Heh i believe they're consistantly inconsistant.

OT: How is attacking game developers Lulzworthy? If anything it's antilulzworthy therefore contradicting their entire philosophy...

I believe they've got "lolworthy" mixed up with "assholism"

And brb checking Brink

I think someone needed more spankings while they where younger.

I mean siriously, ruining peoples lives for the fun of it is just not right. I'm wondering why Anonamous isn't doing anything. These guys are ruining innocent peoples fun and sometimes even lives for absolutely no reason.

Has anybody thought that perhaps these "Hackers" are actually being employed by somebody as an excuse to ramp up governmental presence on the internet?

Just a thought, because the attacks seem random, and I doubt that many people with this level of skill would do it just for the hell of it.
