Yes strong passwords do work. This is all after the fact preventing anyone from accessing the account, In the case of the database getting stolen it wouldnt matter what the password is, but having a strong password will help stop a brute force or another attack on the account itself.

Strangely enough, I'm not not okay with this. Now if they were to hack into Elder Scrolls or Fallout (not sure what they would get, but I think you get my point) then I'd take issue with it more.

...They did. They hacked Elderscrolls.com and deleted all of the information on the site to replace it with a bunch of broken images that said '*TOUT*' all over the place.
