Let's all share our tales of exploration, because I know I can't be alone. You're exploring, as you're wont to do, and you encounter some critters. The game calls them Cazadores, but I know some Fallout version of the Wicked Witch of the West has sent them to fuck up my plans of discovery. Though, wielding my trusty lead pipe, I can take a man's head clean off in one fell swoop, these insect fiends laugh at my apparently not so mighty blows. Yes, I swear I hear them laughing. Or is it me losing my mind because all I've eaten for weeks is gecko steak?

So I've turned the difficulty down. Way down. They still kill me. So what are your stories of Obsidian's ridiculously powerful creatures thwarting your exploration attempts?

Edit: I feel like I need to add that I do like that the game adds these areas. I'm not complaining, it just caught me off guard because I'm used to Bethesda's system of enemies scaling along side you.

None yet, I'm veeeeeery straight forward usualy and go for the story, but I've spent my time doing every single quest I got my hands on and shooting/slamming everyone's skull that I'm the right lvl with whatever I find.

I have leveled up. This isn't my first RPG. I'm a Bethesda vet. If no one else is experiencing this, then I'm wondering if this is a bug. 8 Strength, 84 in melee and my attacks are barely hurting them. Weapon is in great condition as well.

Well I'm playing on harcore so most battles can get messy fast if I don't take care and play smart.
Last night though I encountered a pack of Golden geckos for the first time, they were taking about a third of my health of with each hit.
Thankfully I have Boone with me.
Also, I may be wrong, but I could swear I was getting like 115xp per kill, which is way higher than anything in the Capital wasteland.

Oh and to the OP, why are you using a lead pipe? There are so many awesome mellee weapons out there.

I actually like the enemy strength, fallout 3 was too easy and even when you played on hard the enemies weren't rly hard you'd just take a lot more dmg instead, but the challenge was the same. Here you can't just jump into the middle of a gang shoot out with just a butter knife and come out on top after using just a cola to heal. When I first ran into the legion I figured I'd be bad ass and take'em all out for talking crap too me, only to see I was turned to red paste by the time I threw my 2nd dynamite. I ended up using almost all my health paks just to kill'em and restarted the save about 20 times to see if i could do different.

Cazadors are armored opponents. First time I ran across them I had a high-ish gun skill and a Cowboy Repeater, just made them mad. Even at level 14 with a 70+ gun skill a couple of those fuckers can end my life really fast. Armor Piercing ammo does the trick.

Is it a problem with DT? Relating back to the old Fallout games, which NV does seem to heavily draw from, there are simply places you're not meant to go early on. So there are very strong enemies blocking your
path.

Plus, I don't use melee weapons so I'm not certain, but I don't think the lead pipe is a very good weapon.

I'm playing the game and then the game programmers kill my experience by giving me a glitch that ruins my experience... someone tell me when the PS3 patch is released, because right now I say this game is shit. 4/100

Probably my fault for straying off the roads, but you really shouldn't be able to encounter Deathclaws at level 5...

My attempts at exploration are constantly being thwarted, by an enemy no man can conquer. It is invincible, immune to pain, and can not bee seen coming. and every time I meet it, I must lower my head in disappointment, for I know I will not get past it. It is the bane of every explorer; the dreaded invisible wall.

Seriously, this fucker shows up way to much. It's really hurting my opinion of this game. The invisible wall rarely appeared in Fallout 3, unless you went to the end of the world. But in New Vegas, he is everywhere. Constantly taunting your attempts to explore the unknown. Basically a big fuck you from the game developers, as to were to lazy to design the environment properly so they wouldn't need invisible walls.

Nothing kills my immersion faster than hitting an invisible wall.

I had a mother Deathclaw spawn in front of my house once. At level 4. Not fun.

I'm pretty sure the first patch for 360 and PS3 was released last night.

What game breaking bugs are you referring to? I'm over 30 hours in and I can't think of any bugs or glitches that weren't present in Fallout 3. Sure it tends to be a little rough around the edges, but a game of this scope and size is bound to have a few quirks.

Although I really loved NV so far, I agree with you. F3 had little to no invisible walls within the game world, NV seems to use them all the time when then want to corral you somewhere.

That's what I thought it was, just places I'm not meant to go. But I enjoyed the challenge.

The Lead Pipe is getting me 56 DPS (that's much higher than base, but it's augmented with my moderately high strength and very high melee skill). I haven't found a better DPS than that so far. And I absolutely dominate most enemies with it.

I disagree!

You are exploring a world, my friend. Filled with monsters that guard their wares.

I think having Deathclaws wait it out until you are powerful enough to face them ruins the immersion. I found the quarry camp early-on in the game and kept heading forward. I was greeted by an Adult Deathclaw and promptly ass-raped. Guess I can go back soon now that I've leveled up and bought some sweet-ass weapons. That's what this game is all about. Like Zelda, can you enter any dungeon right off the bat and look around? No. Some things have to be off-limits at first, that's what gives a game replay value.

At level 5 I decided to head Southwest. Encountered about eight or nine feral ghouls. Ran away to encounter no less than six giant radscorpions. At once. At level five. On the very hard difficulty setting. With hardcore mode on.
