Like that they mentioned her being both strong and kind. Really excited for this.

It honestly just looks like Captain America footage, with the notable differences of Captain's bike is now a horse, and the Super Nazis appear to just be regular Nazis.

Then again DC is clearly trying to get in on Marvels money pile, so maybe the similarities aren't as accidental as I thought.

It does look a bit like Captain America. Not just for the "nazis in a wintry silvan setting", but the bleached colors as well.

I'm starting to get a bad feeling about the heavy focus on equality and girl power from this, This might be why we can never get a decent female super hero since the second we do the focus has to instantly shift to how amazing it is that a woman. Yes a woman!!!! is able to do stuff that men do instead of just being about someone kicking ass who just happens to be a woman.

There weren't any Nazis in World War I tho.

they sound like they really believe in Wonder Woman being great! Lets see if the movie supports that.

Nice to see the youtube comments section went from zero to toxic almost instantly. >.>

I'm cautiously optimistic here. The color palette still looks like the visual equivalent of depressive disorder, but the camera seems very respectful of Ms. Gadot's physical appearance; I was expecting the fight scenes to look like they were choreographed on a stripper pole, like Scarlet Johannson's fight scenes in Iron Man 2. Between that and the rationale behind choosing to set the movie during World War I, I'm actually pretty impressed.

I just hope they remember to call it "the War to End All Wars."

Wow, that was annoying hearing them speak. All aboard the equality/feminism train!

Why can't they just make a strong female character and leave it at that?

Probably won't be disappointed by the movie, but I am a fan of superhero movies in general.

I didn't really get that vibe from the clip, I thought they did a good job mentioning it without being too over the top about it.

It really shouldn't be a big deal, but woman-led superhero movies are so rare that I don't mind them hyping that up a bit.

I'm excited about the WWII setting (though it's a bit too Captain America-y) will be cool to see her deal with the sexism of that time

For the same reason people can't be okay with a piece of fiction mentioning gender politics, I suppose: different values.

All I can say is Thank Hera they aren't using her New 52 version of her backstory and Themyscira, or at least don't appear to be using it.
I swear to god, if I get to the theater and find out Themyscirans kidnap men, rape them to get pregnant, murder them, and sell the male children into slavery, I will kill all life on the planet with my rage. Sephiroth ain't got shit on me.

Oh my gosh!

It's so drab!

That's some Revenant levels of grey right there.

I'm starting to think Marvel's success might have stemmed from their willingness to include some fucking colour on the screen from time to time.

The character was originally intentionally created as a feminist icon.

For better or for worse, she's been on that particular train since 1941.

Moviebob did a thing on her a while back. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4C25QrQaSw]

This reminds me of that one Steve Shives video where his wife shows up and talks about how racism and sexism are done in films. Basically she wants to see a movie with no conflict. She said "putting this stuff in just reminds us that this stuff exists."

Isn't WW's other origin that her mother sculpted her out of clay and brought her to life? I wonder if they'll go that route.

Honestly, nothing in that made me excited for it. At best, I have no opinion on it.

I really want them to make a good Wonder Woman movie, she deserves some respect, but I just can't trust DC to make good movies. Looking at Man of Steel and what BvS seems to be turning into, I can't believe that this will be good. Nothing in the teaser seemed to make me think this would be bad, but nothing made me think it would be good, either. As others have said, it looks like they are remaking Captain America.

Please tell me that isn't the New 52 origin. Please, God, tell me that isn't her New 52 origin.

Honestly, I think that'd be an interesting bit of pathos for what is a almost uniformly morally perfect character. The Amazons find the world of man to be effectively worthless and not worth anything beyond reproductive fodder, and she looks at the whole thing and goes "This feels reaaaaal skeevy to me", leading her to go into the world of man and find out that, no, actually, while they sometimes screw up, mankind is largely pretty good and definitely worth defending.

I mean, they WON'T, because that'd make people uncomfortable and safety is Hollywood's middle name. But it'd absolutely be an interesting twist to the 'war culture' thing and leading to Wonder Woman being compelled to fight for mankind(and as often seems to go in the comics/cartoons as I recall it, butt heads with her homeland).

As for the footage: huegh. The utter lack of contrast and drab pallet is really unpleasant to look at.

You would THINK it would create some depth into the Amazons, but really it's just that special kind of third grade gritty pretentiousness when it's all down on paper. The idea that the Amazon's already gave up on the world of man is enough to say they're not perfect, going as far as the New 52 did just makes it feel like it was written by a bitter divorcee (though, most comics feel like that)

Man of Steel already showed up what happens when you try and darken an ostensibly optimistic character (a dull pile of shit). Let's not make the same mistake twice.
Oh, to be sure, I have no faith it'd be actually handled competently. Just that I kinda like the concept - if it were implemented well.

But a) it wouldn't be written well enough and b) it'd make people feel all uncomfortable. Thus, not gunna happen.

I mean, there's a LOT one could do with the duality in premise that would be amazing if executed well. Such as having her supposedly superior homeland see the much more subdued, muted pallets and the like, and then when she goes over in the world of man, even during the midst of World War 1, you up the color saturation and the like, making the place feel more alive and real, even with all the tragedy that occurs, compared to her supposedly 'better' homeland.

Thematic cues like that could be theoretically used all over and could make a really powerful emotional throughline with the audience, working WITH the darker tones, creating a solid overall feel of conflict between the two 'worlds'.

But, as we've covered, there's no chance it'll be done well. Alas.
