OH you noticed. yeah every LoZ game is exactly the same. same mechanics, same game play, in most cases even the same items, and the same puzzles to go with them. heres some problems with your improvements
1. voice actors in a Nintendo game? yeah right
2. ganon is a good bad guy, the reason why he kidnaps zelda is always so that he can take over the world.
3. its a kids game, remember
4. over recent history, the amount of M rated games nintendo has published is less then 10. the chance of them converting one of their core IPs is very small, to say the least. and it would completely destroy the series, link running around, lopping the heads off of people would hardly be a LoZ game
5. dungeons are the games core, its part of the formula that is LoZ
6. horrible idea, i would never buy such a crappy idea for a game.
all and all, nintendo subscribes to the school of thought "if it aint broke, dont fix it" as long as people keep buying the exact same Zelda over and over again, they will keep making and selling the same zelda over and over again. so get ready to skip over the next zelda, because it is going to be twilight princess with new graphics.(not entirely true, the next LoZ is actualy wind waker for the wii, with nintendo remaking a whole slew of gamecube titles for the wii, this is an inevitability)
i dont really have a problem with that, if you changed it, it wouldnt be LoZ

1. Link doesn't speak, end of story. The rest, I would accept as long as they don't butcher it horribly.
2. This doesn't make too much sense to me. Do you want him to be more destructive? More creative? I don't think Ganon should deviate too far from his norm. It's what he does.
3. Here's one.
4. In the end, call it what you want, it's marketed to children. Blood, while interesting in theory, would never happen.
5. You're messing with tradition here. Everyone knows messing with tradition is a recipe for rage from the fanboys. If you want to take that away, you might as well take away all the central characters as well, because that's the level you're talking on.
6. While I'm unopposed to new gadgets, this sounds ridiculous. Look for something else.

Conclusion: You're full of shit. You don't reevaluate a formula that's proven a success. Look for a new game, one that's not as good as Zelda.

Link has to remain mute end of story. It's his character. Ganon does seem to have run out of ideas, but blood and guts are not going to do anything but make me hate it for being shallow (same with boobs). A Zelda game without dungeons is not Zelda, and why does the princess need to be attractive? She's not ugly or anything so i don't see why she can't just look like a normal person. If there is ever a Zelda set in a future like you suggested I will be abandoning Nintendo and that is a promise. Most of Zelda's charm comes from its setting. I would eat 5 big macs (those things are wretched) before I believed that Nintendo considered setting Link in time where you suggested.

Most (if not all) of your ideas seem either trolling or shallow. I read and at first just disagreed, but then I got to number 4 and just wrote off the entire list. Seriously.
Ok. You guys seem to be over reacting a tad bit. Firstly, setting it in the future wasnt an idea I made up. That was a rumor from a while back that I thought seemed interesting. Secondly, im not trolling, and if you seriously think that voicing my opinion makes me a troll then kindly go away. Swearing at/insulting someone makes you a troll. Not having a free will.

Also. It does not, in any way, make me a fanboy to say I think they need to mix it up a little. Fanboys are afraid of change. They dont encourage it.

If anything I said seemed to insult you then please just disregard it, since that was not my intention.

What's with this talk of making Zelda sexier? Have you seen Sheik? Sheik is badass, sexy, and still in Nintendo's realm of workability. Sheik is hot, look at her figure in Brawl. That's what I'd like to see in the next Zelda, personally.

There was an announcement from Miyamoto (in an IGN article) that they were underway with making a Zelda in 2008, so it is only a matter of time. Rumor came up that it may be a Zelda in first person, but it is only a rumor. What isn't one is that Nintendo intends to come up with unique ideas and may divert from what they did in Twilight.

Eco, my point was that people who are actaully mature get their kicks from fucking their wives and girlfriends, and don't really care about polygons. Mature people like games with interesting and new design and ideas. Like Beyond Good and Evil, and Killer7.

Killer7 was the marmite of the gaming market because it cleaved it into 2 sections: People who like new, interesting things, and people who are massively conservative twats who buy FIFA regularly and think Gears of War has an involving and meaningful plot.

Tits in games appeal to teenage pocket miners, not mature adults. It's a very objectify and offensive take on sexuality in games. Much more grown up was Mass Effects story based sex scene, compared to Beach Volleyball whatever that series is called.

I'm not saying tits in games are bad (well, I am, but on moral grounds instead of does-it-make-a-good-game grounds) - I'm just saying they're very shallow and not-a-mature-selling-point at all.
I see your point. And im not trying to say they should load the game with double D's on every women. But so far the game has seemed to me to be unrealistically childish and something like tits would give me a new respect for the game.

I AM a teenager, and have a girlfriend, who watches me play Half Life 2 on my lap while playing her Final Fantasy rubbish on DS. I feel so lucky.

Gigastrike, Hyrule is a tedious fucking field, they should make it smaller
I don't mean make 1 huge field with everything 5 miles away from each other. I mean make it more detailed and have more out-of-the-way locals. (and while they're at it they should decide to keep teleporation)

Zelda could use a bit more of a "living world" feeling to it, but it's well designed dungeons, items, and secrets are what make it awesome.

As for the future... No. Zelda just needs a bit more magic into it, play up the elemental powers, bring back the wands maybe.

And Zelda was plenty beautiful in the game. Sex Appeal does not = beauty.

Honestly from what i've seen from footage of Twilight Princess it was a majorly good step in the right direction, it just needs to lose the GIMMICKS. Link doesn't need to turn into a wolf or a kid or whatever. Link needs to be some loner who lives out in the sticks like Aragorn, come to find out he's Hyrules only hope and off he rides to save the day. The Master Sword needs to be played up in it's power- demonic or undead enemies can disintergrate when killed by it, and bleed light when damaged. Link should go around collecting legendary pieces of equipment with unique powers- remember the pegasus boots? How awesome would it be to be able to air dash and glide?

Zelda has alot of potential not being exploited, but it doesn't need crazy shenanigans and boobies to do it.

Eco, you are in favour of change, but only if it's changing into a more bland, mainstream, boring game.

Hence the tits and blood you want in Zelda. Have you any idea how sad that sounds? That you want tits and blood in a game which has FAIRIES in? and TALKING ROCKS? and Magic and Shizz?

Have you even PLAYED Zelda? No?

Your opinion does make you a troll, because it's a massively bad, unfounded, and stupid opinion.
I have played the original LoZ, Link to the past, Ocarina of time, Wind Waker and Twilight princess.

And would everyone please stop taking my comments about making the game more mature with things like blood and tits at so much face value? Im not saying to make them the poster board of the game! Im not saying to make a half naked woman flash at ever available point!

But look at Okami. When it comes to maturity that game is what LoZ should be shooting for. Its got Alcohol and sexual inuendo's. Does that game have hundreds of half naked women? NO! All im asking for is for LoZ to slowly yet steadily start backing up away from its extremely childish settings.

Never going to happen. Asking Miyamoto to change his formula is like asking Bush to leave Iraq. Even if it seems like a good idea to everyone else, he will think the world would explode.

I don't think you want LOZ because it sounds like you want to turn it into Devil May Cry or Ninja Gaiden with horses. Also Zelda is beautiful and she shouldn't be changed in anyway. As for Ganon, he is plenty evil already. I mean he unleashes evil hordes upon the world what more do you want. Lastly, A Zelda game set in the future that must another lie from our old friend the internet.(Please link your Source though)

I would like Zelda to take a more active role in the story like at the end of TP or OoT.

To be fair I see what MrEco is aiming for. I'd like to see a more... epic fantasy take on Zelda. I want to see Link as the last hope for Hyrule, leading a last ditch effort with the Hylian military to defend against the unstoppable armies of Ganon. The series needs to touch on the triforce more as well.

I apologize in advanced because I am too tired to read all of the posts on this thread before adding my own comments, so pardon me if I echo someone else's opinion.
I am now probably going to say probably one of the most unpopular opinions I hold and that is that Phantom Hourglass on the DS was, for me, a step in the right direction for me. It (and probably Windwaker too, I never played it) brought a whole new world exploring element to Zelda for me. I get that there is exploring the countryside in traditional Zelda games, but just about every game has that. The ship experience, while tedious, brought a new idea to the table that really has not been explored. I would really like to see a mix between the whole seafaring adventure with the land roaming walk around. Beyond that, the whole customizable aspects to Phantom Hourglass had a positive effect on me. Giving me attainable alternate goals if I don't feel like going through a dungeon was needed to make Zelda a much more recurring game and salvaging ship parts and other treasures from the sea floor gave me something easier to put my energies towards while still playing a Zelda game. Lastly, I enjoyed it because it added the character Linebeck and lacked Gannon as a bad guy. Instead, we are fighting on behalf of the Ocean King against Bellum, which is slightly different than the usual Zelda plot. I am not saying that Phantom Hourglass was a perfect game, but it had aspects that could make the Zelda series as a whole better. I don't think the idea of dungeons as a focus of gameplay is a bad idea, so long as I have an alternative to sink my time into when I want something more casual and shorter than beating a major chunk of the game.
As far as the whole future idea, I think that incorporating science fiction elements into a Zelda game might be a nice experiment. The thing that Phantom Hourglass did so intelligently in my opinion was that it varied the scenery while retaining the aspects that made it a Zelda game. It is therefore logically possible for Nintendo to use some science fiction ideas while keeping it a Zelda game. It just needs to be executed right.
Lastly, there was a suggestion about adding blood and tits to Zelda games. I don't know whether or not you noticed, but we are talking about a Nintendo franchise. Even if I did think that that was a good idea (which I don't because I don't think blood and tits alone define a good experience) it is still Nintendo, caterer to the too young to cross the street by themselves demographic. You are pretty much out of luck if you are hoping for them to make your experience more mature.

MrEco, all the points you listed are what makes a LoZ game a LoZ game. Personally, I would be horrified if Link got a voice or had text for speech, as it would ruin the series completely, mainly because, since he has no voice, you can fit your own personality into him, which makes the game seem more immersive. Why do you think that no one got voices in LoZ: Twilight Princess despite it easily being capable of doing that? Because it just would not be a LoZ game anymore.
