Ok, I was willing to let the whole necro thing slide 'cos dracula and other vamp things have always had that weird as fuck thing going on. (what exactly is sexy about murderous, blood sucking immortals with no tan and morbid out look? 'cos that look just isn't working for me).

Now zombies have gone from a social commentary, to "dead things can love aswell!". Dating a zombie is just necrophilia ... unless you subscribe to the joke "it's not necrophilia if there still twitching".

Zombies have always been must kill (no, not eat brains! I have yet to see a zombie just go for the brains or mumble brains!).

They got a slight upgrade in one of those zombies films that has dead in the title (come on there are like 20 of them) and they ran a bit and used weapons ... not to mention the really funny "we will just walk along the sea floor 'cos breathing is for losers!".

Why must Hollywood pander to the not so ignorant romantics? Keep scary things scary and romance to the romcoms.

I bet it was the Bride of Chucky that started this whole mess off!

I'm not saying there aren't other examples, but I think most would agree that the "norm" insofar as a view of vampires by the masses has been coloured by the likes of Anne Rice and Stephenie Meyers.

Even Dracula, at his heart, is more of a monster than anything else. Blade is (based on my admittedly limited knowledge of his character from the movies) only half vampire and hunts full vampires that are not likely to agonize over drinking humans blood.

My comment was around stating that Vampires always having been sexy. The origins of them are really anything but.

Really I've always just hoped one classic monster could remain "pure".

Awww hell-fucking-NAW!
You can kill vampires, you can sodomize the werewolves but leave the fucking zombies out of this! Unlike the fangs and fuzzies they have no sense of humanity, the are the DEAD walking and devouring human brains and flesh! If this movie does not end with Bruce Campbell decapitating this THING with a chainsaw arm (or a boomstick) with this song playing in the background
Then someone really WILL be a zombie!

Lol.
Just lol.

I mean can you imagine kissing a zombie? Smooch, smooch, NOM NOM and you're dead.
It's not suprising that people are trying to cash in on Twilight's ridiculous amounts of teenagers money.
But I mean, that doesn't mean you can just romantisize the nearest freaky monster.
Or maybe you can, and in a few years time it will be mummies or banshees or some shit.

Why? WHY!? Why do they have to ruin zombies too? This is wrong on so many different levels. First vampires, then werewolves, now zombies. What else can be ruined for us?

Why does this need to exist? Why...just.....why?

It's bad enough that Twilight had pedophilia in it, but really Hollywood, do we really need to see necrophilia too?

Oh for... the guy in the poster looks more like he's auditioning for another DTV sequel to The Crow.

Maybe by "zombie" they mean "mindless trendy sheep", which does describe the audience for this thing.

This is one of those things that makes me wish I was born into an Amazonian tribe so that I would never have to hear about these things.

On a side note, anyone else note that its his "victims girlfriend" hes "involved" with. I feel the female lead may be just as fical as those who watch this sort of crap.

Wow, just... speechless. Here we are, so out of ideas for movies that they make a necrophiliac's dream world while MediEvil still hasn't had a decent expansion, game, etc. in ten years. I miss Sir Dan...

You can't characterise a zombie.
This is in the vein of Twilight; of course there'll be no characterisation.
But a zombie can't speak in coherent sentences, while in Twilight... Oh, wait.
Given as we're dealing with zombies, the emotional content that Twilight bring to the script might well be suited to the setting...

The more you know: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brides_of_Dracula

Dracula wasn't sexy, but he was a bit of a pimp, the original novel from 1897 included 3 beautiful vampire women that stayed in his castle, their purpose in the novel is inherently sexual, and not in a healthy way...
Though it is mentioned by the sisters that Dracula does not love, nor has he ever loved them, the count himself claims he once loved them in the past.[2] The two dark-haired women, however, are described by Jonathan Harker to have "high aquiline noses, like the Count's". It has been suggested from this that it may have been Stoker's intent that these two are Dracula's daughters, extending the sexuality metaphor of vampirism to incest.[3]
Ewwww!

Also of note is that when the character "Lucy" in the novel is turned into a vampire they go to her grave to stake her, but when they see the body they are stunned and find it difficult to kill her because as a vampire she has become so beautiful. The sexual nature of vampires has always been a thing, although originally it was a negative thing, symbolising earthly temptation, lust and sin.
But that totally doesn't excuse what Twilight did to vampires.

They can take our werewolves. They can take our vampires. But on this day, we draw the line. They will not take our zombies! If we don't draw the line and defend it now, they will make Warhammer 40k a romance between the Astartes and the forces of Chaos! I will not stand for this!
