"The Dark Night Rises?"

Hm, Yahtzee will love that one. I can see the naming session now.

"Well, The Dark Knight was a huge success so what can do so that people know our new movie carries on the series?"
"Well, Batman will still be in it, I assume people will just re-"
"I know! We'll keep the name The Dark Knight and just add something at the end! They do that all the time in video games."
"That's a stupid idea, we named the first one Batman Begins, and everyone figured out that The Dark Knight was the sequel. If we keep the names so similar, it's more likely to confuse people."
"Shut up, you're fired. Now, I personally like Rises, because he's rising see?"
"The Dark knight Rises? Are you joking, the internet's going to have a field day with that one! It sounds like a really bad euphemism! They'll make porn-parodies with that name!"
"Exactly! Free Advertising! And I said you're fired."
"Good, because the last thing I want to be associated with is anything talking about Batman's rising."

Seriously, anyone else think that sounds like a sexual reference?
Sounds like a board meeting with George Lucas;

"Don't you think you're alienating your long-term fanbase in favour of bringing in a younger generation?"
"Question my judgement again and I'll drop you in a volcano."

On the other hand I'd love to see Killer Croc.
The trouble with Killer Croc is that he doesn't really fit into Nolan's 'realistic' Batman. It's alright having a psychopath in clown makeup running around the city, but a mutated half human, half crocodile? I just can't see it myself.

Also, the title suggests that this will be the last Nolan Batman film. The Dark Knight Rises? We had the fall of Batman in The Dark Knight, and he will restore Batman in this third instalment. I don't know, to me that suggests it might be an ending. Of course, you can't tell just from the title, but you can speculate.
I think it will deal with Batman overcoming impotence.
It brings a whole new meaning to the conversation:

"What would you have me do, Albert?"
"Endure, Master Wayne."
Maybe some Robin-handjobin' will be involved. Haha, see what I did there?
Of course! This whole movie series is a complex and lengthy plot to insinuate that Batman is homosexual, and a child molester i.e. Robin, so that bad parents will stop their children buying the comics and thus cripple the comic industry!

Diabolical!

W00T! NO 3D!!

As for the main villain...Catwoman and Scarface? Oh wait...HUSH. Why not Hush? Or one of the Red Hoods? OH! Zsasz has been in the last couple of movies but he hasn't really done anything yet. He isn't really main-villain material but that doesn't mean he has to sit in the background the whole time.

I think putting in somebody like Bane or Killer Croc would probably shatter the illusion of this "gritty, realistic" Batman.

He's also previously said it won't be Mr Freeze and that Penguin is "difficult to portray".

Anyone who's seen Inception: what was the villain in that like? Only he's supposed to be playing the villain in this...

Title's...meh, sounds like it was studio-ordered (to tie it in with The Dark Knight) though.

NO that's what mess up "batman and robin", well that and making the Governator Mr Freeze, a script that will make a 13 year old yaoi slash fic writter cringe, and the pun, sweet fetus on rye the puns.

I'm going to throw my hat in the ring and go with Poison Ivy, or maybe Solomon Grundy. Seems like we got 2 major villains in each installment thus far so maybe we'll get both.

Title is eh, and no Edward makes me sad (especially since he and I share a name)

However, it does give the Penguin a good chance to star in the spotlight. It's the perfect setting, the city sees Batman as the villain, and with the Dark Knight now in the public's eye as the evil one, someone's going to have to crawl to power.

You can bet that Bruce will start slipping with the hatred of Batman, and there we can have the Penguin gain the public interest, a seedy underbelly mobster sitting atop a public's wet dream of happiness and fake love for the city.

As for anyone else, that's a who knows. I'm sure they'll do SOMETHING and throw a Joker reference around in the movie, since he technically didn't die @ the end of DK, and it was his madness that ended up taking down the Bat. I almost wouldn't be surprised to see Harley Quinn in there, which if you think about it would make the most sense. Joker's caused chaos, he needs his Harley Quinn to take over the mantle of madness.

Quinn's name is pretty quiet, mostly because she's always w/ the Joker probably. I'm now hoping we have the Penguin rise to power, and Harley Quinn keeping the madness of the Joker alive, hopefully they get a female Heath Ledger to play the part

Name = not so good.

No Riddler = Kind of a let down. I was looking forward to seeing a good interpretation of Riddler since we had such a good interpretation of Joker. As for characters like Bane, I wouldn't want to see that. Never really seen Bane as a "Main Villain" sort of material. Freeze might work if they could put him together right (which, after seeing what's been done so far, wouldn't surprise me).

Hm... I'm not sure who would be next. Just... no Penguin, Catwoman, or Poison Ivy... unless we can get some tits in there... then I might let it slide...

*fingers crossed for the highly unlikely clayface*

i know nothing about the batman universe outside of the films so i hope they dont get to silly with anything like mutations or resurrections because the gritty realistic films work really well. Also this character the riddler sounds an awful lot like the joker, but like i said i know nothing about batman.

Man I'd go with Solomon Grundy instead man!! I wanna see that vicious Zombie!!

But honestly I can't think of any other villains that would be plausable for Nolan's story...hmmm Mr. Freeze? I mean he needs a remake considering what Arnold did for that villain XD

my money says Penguin will be our villain in the next movie since he operates as a generic mafia lord with kick ass umbrellas and bird related crimes. Who knows, we could end up with an awesome Hitchcock homage by having him as our villain.

Well, I don't hate it. But I don't love it either. Still, not complaining 'cause it means we get more Batman soon! I'd love to see Chris Nolan take on Man-bat or Killer Moth but somehow I doubt it. I'm okay with Selina Kyle but I'd prefer she not be the main villain. And as much as I enjoy Robin's (particularly Dick Grayson's) comic relief, I'm praying they don't try to introduce him either.

And not using the Riddler vicariously proves soemthing I have suspected all along. Many people condemn the sillier aspects of Batman, like Robin, the Riddler, the entire Silver Age, because they declare that they add nothing to the character.
I'd say it's because the Riddler's motif might be considered too similar to how the Joker operated in The Dark Knight. Just a guess, on my part.

I wouldn't completely write off Two-Face as being dead. Yes they showed him lying there on the pavement, but if he were still alive he'd want revenge on Batman for one thing and he could easily tear apart Harvey Dent's hero status.

Two-Face is too big of a character to be left like he was at the end of DK and that's why I had always suspected he'd be back in the third. I will second the Penguin as an alternative, given that Devito made the character work pretty well in the original, but we just need a better story that arming penguins with rockets.

Christopher my son, I am disappoint.

I was really hoping for it to be the Riddler...that kinda villain is straight up Nolan's alley. I'm gonna be a damn hard sell on the villain now. It better be someone freaking awesome. Though he basically went through all the awesome ones already (Joker, Dent, and now he says that it won't be the Riddler).

Who else IS there? I mean, really? What other good, believable villain is there in the Batman franchise? I can't think of any really.
