I was just wondering what people thought about the next time period that Assassin's Creed 3 will take place in.

I was thinking it would be awesome to move into the Colonial era. It would fit the gameplay perfectly. You would have one or two flintlock pistols, perhaps duel firing ones, then you have to resort to sword combat again because you can't reload in the middle of the fight. Perhaps set in the American Colonies, around Philidelphia so you have the big city and smaller ones around the countryside. Hell, New York could even be in the mix. Its still horse drawn transportation so they wouldn't have to change that, and at some point the templars would have to come to America because Desmond's story is set in NY, so why not in AC3? It would be fantastic I think. And if they could somehow fit a tri-corner hat into the assassins costume the new character would be bad-ass.

Yaar i think it do be Pirates Creed!

the Creed goes as follows:
1. Rape
2. Pillage
3. Plunder

Avast ye mateys and batten down the hatches for we do set sail for the spanish main with the release of Pirates Creed somewhere in the distant future!

I like that idea. It HAS TO BE in a time where Swords were still primary. Making the primary gameplay be guns would change the game from what we love. Have guns, but at a higher level than the gun in AC 2 ( i think i used it once. then a couple other times just dicking around ) but still be secondary to swords.

I was just thinking this while playing 2 last night: Amazon jungle about a hundred or so years after the second game. You get all the cool climby action on native pyramids and jungle ruins, as well as the newly built Spanish colonial settlements. Plenty of excuses for pirate stuff too, like you could travel to the Caribbean Islands or something. Plus you could fight natives and jungle wild life. And you could swim, but there would be piranhas and giant snakes in the water.

I think they're going to abandon the whole ancient history thing and focus it more around Desmond. this is foreshadowed by
him being able to move and kill like an assassin towards the end, mixed with that mindfuck of a story ending.

this is why i feel that the series that will no longer dwell within the ancestors of desmond, it's old territory now. unless ubisoft abandons the series, and EA picks it up. ubisoft isn't as bland of a developer as most others, they know better. if this doesn't happen with 3, it will certainly happen with 4.

Erm, in the parking lot of Abstergo's place all the signs are in Italian. If you look outside the Assassin hideout windows it looks like modern day Italy.

Trivia

It is suspected that the part of Assassin's Creed in the present takes place in Italy, considering that the outside of the hideout looks almost exactly like Florence in Ezio's time, and that the underground parking lot in Abstergo and the Assassin's hideout have signs that have words in Italian, including "sezione", which means "section" in English. In Abstergo's garage there are signs in Italian saying "Parcheggio riservato" meaning "Reserved parking" and "Altezza totale" meaning "Altitude". In the end of Assassins Creed II Lucy says that they can hide out in a cabin north and Rebecca later says that it's a long drive meaning that the cabin is possibly in Austria or Germany or Switzerland.

Colonial America would be kinda nifty, tho tbh I'd MUCH prefer Victorian England.

I heard rumours that it was going to be about Ezio again.
I personally would'nt mind seeing it set in WW1. Somepoint in the English Tudor timeline would be quite cool.

With all the allusions to colonial America, I think we're going to be in Pennsylvania or New England.

Or, if it's a little later. We can have something with Manifest Destiny. Meaning what we all suspected is true: Oregon Trail is a part of the Assassin's Creed canon.

French revolution all the way! With some kind of special long range rifle made by some kind of mad craftsman you get to use as a special treat (a bit like davinci's flying machine) :)
Watch Vidoq for inspiration (french film, very good!)

I'd love to see the game in the 1800's but I have a funny feeling its going to be more modern day Italy with all the clues from the last game. I would find it sad if they did away with sword fighting though it was a major draw for me in the last 2 games.
