That's actually Assassin's Creed episodes, not AC3.

It is important to note that, for story purposes, Desmond has no reason to re-enter the Animus. He's now fully trained, and the third game could well be just set in the game's "present".

Of course, that would suck, so I'd love to see an Animus segment set in Tudor England or World War I. The First World War is remarkably unvisited as a gaming territory, but it is ripe for Assassin's Creed's traditions - read Birdsong by Sebastian Faulks for an insight. Traditions of brotherhood, violence and even some sex that AC has dabbled with - yeah, I'd love WW1 as a setting.

Well, speaking as an asian. The Asian region would be Gold. Back then[sub]1800's i think[/sub] The Spaniards were utter bastards. Killing and Imprisoning people who did not believe in Christianity. That would be a promising area.....or really, wherever that kind of oppression happened.

EDIT: Clarification, The Philippines. I don't know about the other asian countries but, like i said, the Spanish were bastards. Though the likeliness of that happening is low[sub]With Desmond a super Badass now[/sub] Still Interesting food for thought.

While speculation on this topic has my approval, I think we're getting things a bit out of sequence.
The question we should be asking ourselves, is: "What will the identity of the annoying npcs be?"
In the original Assassins Creed game we had the sick(lepers?) and the drunk.
In the second game we were harassed by people with a horrible lack of singing and lute playing ability.
But what will the future hold?

I don't care, as long as i can jump over roofs without being pumped full of automatic lead.

I just don't want it to be in an era with heaps of guns... that would be a major let down..
And how are they going to do a female Assassin? The previous two have been Desmond's face with different hair, clothing, and accents... wouldn't it be better just to stick with that character design?

I'm a bit torn with the Assassin's Creed storytelling macguffin of the Animus. It's a great idea, but I feel like I'm in a minority when I say that part of the fun of the first game was seeing how your progression of the Crusader storyline was affecting the characters around you in the modern setting when you had to come out of the Animus. While I loved Assassin's Creed 2 and it's definitely a quantum leap forward for the series, I was somewhat disappointed that you're only brought out of the Animus once during the plot.

I feel like the modern story of Assassin's Creed is the real story, and while the ancestral stories are interesting, I hope the modern storyline isn't neglected. However, I'd be placated somewhat if there was more verbal interaction between Desmond and his cohorts while he's in the Animus - there were a few exchanges to begin with, but it seemed like even those tailed off towards the end.

The one suspicion I can't shake off however, is that when you're controlling Desmond in the "real world" you're actually a descendant of Desmond reviewing his memories through an even more advanced Animus. I think this is possible because when you loaded up a saved game after starting Assassin's Creed 1 you saw the same Animus loading screen you did when Desmond logs into one of his memories.

Anyway, to answer the question: I'd be quite happy seeing Victorian England, or some WW2 intrigue.

I'd imagine it'll be set in the modern day, as others have said the game really left no reason for Desmond to have to go back into the Animus.

I really hope it's not set in America, there's just not enough history over there. Assassins Creed was all about climbing thousand year old church's and stuff like that, and they just don't exist in America.

This, but it wouldn't fit with the story.

Perhaps a spin off one day?
Hmm I'm not sure I think it would work, although I know very little about Japanese history :/

I agree with your first point, and the second one has real paradox potential.

oh I'm sure Ubi can make it fit! And I'd love to see some non-occidental setting.

Actually... all things considered, AC1 was set in the middle-east, AC2 & 2.5 in Europe, so if I'm not totally making up this pattern based solely on 2 games then we can assume that AC3 will be set in either the Far-east, or the Far West... but I don't really see A western style Assassin's Creed happen.
