Anyone else kind of glad Battleborn is failing?

I mean... the original Borderlands was -and is- one of my GOAT games. But since then, Gearbox has been shitting out downright awful and/or completely broken games. I kinda feel like if they take this kick in the nuts, maybe they'll learn something from the experience and make better games in the future.
Nah. If Blizzard's history shows us anything, it's that they perform better when under pressure from robust competition. And delivering a DOA title can be the kiss of death for even healthy studios. It's not often they spend a lot of time "learning from it". They often just get dissolved or acquired. Very few developers can afford to launch a stinker.

Hopefully Battleborn got enough momentum during its pre Overwatch months to at least recoup all its production costs and properly fund the next project.

Maybe i'll try overwatch during a bargain sale.
Right, because bargain sales are what Blizzard is famous for.
Well i haven't bought any of their products before, so do not know of their business practices. Only that they seem to have half the world's population under mass hypnosis for an undefined length of time.
Eternal curses! My post count of 2345 is now ruined! I have been tricked!

I love most blizzard games, but good luck, you'll be waiting forever, blizzard is just as bad as nintendo when it comes to dropping their game prices.

A little bit of me is, because I don't think it's a very good game. A slightly bigger part of me is sad that it appears to be failing, because clearly some people do like it.

And a large part of me is devastated, because now Gearbox has been driven back to needing Borderlands 3, a game several key personnel at Gearbox have gone on record as saying they didn't want to make, either ever or not any time soon. And whether you liked all the Borderlands (I did) or didn't (I guess you didn't), I think we can all agree that being strong armed into making a game is one of the worst starting points you can be in, and bodes poorly for the project.

No, not really. I mean, it has its fans, there's nothing remotely offensive about it, and I've got no reason to hate Gearbox personally.

What also sucks is that it's a competition with Overwatch that might not have needed to happen. Now, Overwatch has far more of my attention right now, and the only reason I'm not playing it is that my PC can't run the game. But I don't think Battleborn should be shunned by default.

I thought about actually playing both because the story mode of Battleborn seemed like a fun thing to do with friends. I failed to make any of my friends be excited about Battleborn, though. Then came the open beta of Overwatch and ohhhh boy did I have fun. I preordered it right then and kissed Battleborn goodbye before I even could try it out myself. Funny enough: Now I have a lot of fun with Overwatch but every time I see anything about Battleborn I think "What a shame that these two came out at the same time." because Battleborn, too, seems like a game people put a lot of thought into, nevermind the sometimes overlapping gameplay.
