Phone Booth. I don't know ANYONE who has heard of this brilliant movie. It's one of my favourites. Seriously, watch it.

The first line from wikipedia: "Phone Booth is a 2002 American psychological thriller about a man who is held hostage in a telephone booth by a sniper."

Now you do,
I did rather enjoy that one though the end always kinda bugged me a little.

Any and all of the Jackass films. If you haven't seen them, you will enjoy yourself.

Barring that, Scott Pilgrim vs The World was an amazing movie, and just came to dvd. Probably my favorite movie now.

What genre are we talking here? I mean, you could want something like The Deer Hunter, or maybe you could be looking for Office Space. What kind of stuff do you like?
Y'know, partly trying to find some gems I wouldn't normally check out, trying to keep a real open mind here. ...Other than animated films haha.

Basically, my favourite film of all time is 'In Bruges', if that would give you a good indication? :].

Thanks so much for all these suggestions guys>:].
Well, The Deer Hunter is a very serious film. Excellent, but not exactly happy. If you like In Bruges, you might want to check out Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, and Snatch. Gran Torino is also an excellent movie. The Producers is an oldie but a goodie, as is Blazing Saddles. You should definitely watch Dr Strangelove. If you don't mind subtitles, then Let The Right One In is great, as is Oldboy and Sympathy for Mr Vengeance. I also love Leon.

Cloverfield if you are into stuff blowing up and Godzilla movies. eerily reminiscent of 9/11 and a great commentary on how we react to disasters if you get over the giant monster thing.

Scott Pilgrim vs the World is amazing.

I storngly reccomend eraserhead, although it has a tendancy to make people want to kill themselves, great film though, if you can handle it.

I don't think I'd rank it as highly as you did, but it was a film that took me by surprise. It did a great job of creating that certain type of very personal Hitchcock-style suspense while still feeling more modern and accessible to current audiences in a way that classics like Rear Window don't. However, it did fall a little flat and tried a little too hard to shove its point home at times. Nevertheless, I will second this recommendation as it had very little hubbub about it and kind of slipped away.

I'd also like to suggest pretty much any Hitchcock film: Particularly North by Northwest or Vertigo, which I think both stand the test of time the best.

No animated films? You're no fun! Let's see, the last thing I watched was Due Date, so if you're looking for something just casual and silly then I recommend that.

Oh shoot, that's out right now. I got nothing then. Let me come back to it.

*sniff* I... I don't know what to say! I never thought I'd live to see the day when I'd meet anyone else who have even heard, let alone SEEN this movie! I'm so happy!

... I can see why you might not approve of the ending though, but I personally thought it was nicely done. I just love the way the sniper manages to change the life of the guy in the booth.

I never meant to imply the ending wasn't well done just rubs me the wrong way a little,
That's by no means a bad thing some films have really good endings but can still leave a bad taste in someones mouth
sometimes they go for this deliberatly and sometimes it's just values dissonance
For me it's just that I thought the sniper was somwhat of a hypocrite ruining or even ending somone who is uninvolved's life while chewing the protaganist out for doing the same.

At least that's how I felt at the end, still a damn good film though.
