Sure we make fun of you Yanks, but we don't hate you :D Not the regular people like yourself anyway.
I was told you all hate Americans, and treat us like shit :p Well then :D
:O

Thats a bit harsh of us. Where did you learn of this? :p

I suppose some places don't like you guys, but I cant see why. Hell, come to my area. Its in the country so the locals hate all outsiders equally, they don't care if you're an American or not :p
Some guy told me. I forget where. But, your too close to Russia, which hates foreigners :O
Troo dat.

Never know what those crazy Russians are up to :S

Well, I have only been outside the country once and that was to Germany (mainly). I liked it a lot so my vote goes to them. Altough I do remember hearing something about New York actually being the nicest city. I think they had people trip and drop their papers and saw how many people helped them or something of that manner. Of course I could be making this all up because I couldn't find the article in my 5 second google search so...

Isn't that because there's no manditory law in terms of tipping in canada, it's the same in Ireland and that's why every one hate us (in terms of tipping) and I can't blame.
For me, I can't say what country is nice.
Maybe Austrailia?

Or maybe Jamaica.
Canada is nice...except when they tip. They're notoriously cheap.
I'm Canadian and I always tip the accepted 15%
15% is a breakfast and/or lunch tip. If you receive good service for dinner, you should be tipping 18-20%. In the US, servers make between 2.13 to 3.50 on hour depending on the state and genre of restaurant so every little bit counts.
Well there's the problem, servers here make about 10-15 dollars an hour depending on the restaurant, PLUS their tip. Currently in Ontario the minimum wage is $9.50, so it's literally illegal to pay someone less than that. So I really don't need to tip that much. Waiters at high scale restaurants here actually make a killing.
Actually, there are exceptions to minimum wage in Ontario, and servers are one of them. They can legally be paid below minimum wage because they expect the server to make money off tips to counter the lower wages.

Also, Canada is a big country, it really depends where you go, and I think we tend to squable more so at the idea of each other. From coast to coast we are all vastly different, which has caused a bit of an identity problem in our country. People in BC are chill, Alberta are kinda hickish but always up for a good time, Saskatchewan is filled with some of the nicest people you'll ever meet and also the highest crime rate in Canada... Southern Ontario tends to be jerks and is disliked by the rest of the country for the most part but does have it's gems, Quebec is filled with some of the most ridiculous parties, and really nice people but has its areas that hates the anglophones... I don't find Canadians that nice but that might be because I live here.

I've only really been to New York, and it didn't seem too much different really, some rowdy drunken idiots, but we have those too, their wives did bake us cookies though...
Well, good to know about the servers wage thing!
All my friends from New York city say that "Toronto is like new york, except way cleaner and way friendlier." So, take from that what you will :p

Well I was there for a lacrosse scouting tournament at Ithica NY (which was interesting cuz there is full contact at all ages in Canada so getting used to the not being allowed to hit people was difficult) so it was people from the area around NY and southern Ontario. I must admit I was unimpressed when some drunken dad punched one of my teammates in the head then started chanting "USA USA" and yelling how Canada sucks, but those cookies made up for it.

Toronto isn't too dirty, but they clean it up a bit for tourist, if you want to see a dirty Canadian city, go to Hamilton...

I imagine Canada to be the nicest country, people-wise.

Out of countries I've visited however, the US wins BY FAR. Totally blew my family's expectations out of the water I can tell you that much, we was freaking floored by how friendly people were. Ofcourse we was in Florida and I imagine they're always nice to tourists with cash, but still.

Hell, it's probably a subconscious reason for why I want to move there so badly. *Sigh*

Ignoring the fact that if you step outside the all-inclusive resort, you stand a good chance of being robbed and possibly killed!

Say what we will about the States, but theres no nicer place in the WORLD, once something truly truly fucked up happens. Look how well we all were playing with each other after 9/11 and Katrina. Wait for a major disaster and book your next flight to the US. We'll be all kinds of friendly for about the next 2 weeks.

Wait, are you referring to yourself as multiple people?

Insinuating that you speak for the majority of the English populace?

I knew it; England is secretly ruled over by a hive mind, and all of its people are telepathically linked! Must find a tinfoil hat...

Ah well.

On an only somewhat related note, I wonder how many people (not the person I was quoting) who say America is such a terrible place have even been there? Come on, people- fess up! And no, watching American television doesn't count for anything.

EDIT: I'm not saying America is the nicest nation on earth. I just feel like people are bashing it unwarrantedly, as a good person pointed out earlier, because it is the trendy thing to do.

I wouldn't say it's the trendy thing to do, I think people bash the US-of-Eh because how they precieve certain political issues i.e. international policies, and how the media displays them. I don't think I've ever seen someone who looks sane in press confrences on TV, but a small group of neurotic folk don't speak for the nation, and seeing as that's the only part we get shown because it's the only thing that entertains us, that's where we get our impressions from. I don't agree with a lot of policies with the US, but whatever, it's not my country so I'll stay nice, or at least until I've leeched them of their last dollar...

EDIT: besides, everyone needs a bad guy, that's just good story writing, and it can't be the russians or iraqi's for everyone... *cough*

Scotland imo. Amazingly stunning country, the rural areas anyways. Glasgow is nice and all don't get me wrong but I find it hard to call any urban area "beautiful".

That's my point. People who haven't at least visited a country can't form a well-informed opinion on how nice the people there are. 'Hey, look! America has a bad foreign policy- I bet the people there are all corrupted and evil stalks of asparagus!'

Take a holiday in Ireland guys, we are famed for our hospitality!

[small]P.S. it's totally NOT because we mercilessly exploit Americans with our tourist trade... I swear...[/small]
You shouldn't talk like that. Some Americans might read this. Ruining your whole economy.

Can't say I've had much experience with other countries but from my limited experience Canada and Australia seem friendly.

Belong to a mostly Australian alliance on Guild Wars and thier all really friendly.
