Overplayed, Overrated.
I hate them more specifically for their lyrics as well as they're distaste for anyone who doesn't love them. Below are a few simple explanations of what they're songs are trying to say from "dark horse".
Gotta be somebody: Kroeger doesn't want to die alone.
Something in your mouth: Dude's inner monologue of watching that hot girl dance on the floor, but showing no initiative to be a part of it.
Burn it to the ground: Get drunk, break stuff, whip it out. He specifically conveys the need to get drunk and pull his b**ls out in the song and everyone who I know that likes nickelback and said they "loved" this song didn't realize this apparently.
Shakin' Hands: He sings about a high class prostitute. That's it
The only reason I think that nickleback is due to the way they're marketed. It's the same way with videogames like 50 Cent Bulletproof. Terrible game, great marketing. It went platinum and sucked, just like nickelback.
It's nothing but mindless "Jock-Rock". Don't get me wrong, I like some of it like Puddle of Mudd, 3 Doors Down, Creed, Alter Bridge and such but they only hold so much water in comparison. The general public likes this stuff because they make a catchy beat and it's something you can listen to without actually listening to it. It's background music.
Basically the band as a whole is fr people who haven't discovered the good music yet. Everything nickelback has done has been done better in some way. People are just lzy and looking for instant gratification and nickleback is kind of just right there in front of them and they go, close enough.
