Nickleback is Band of the DECADE!!

I'm writing this post with incredible agony and pain. Billboard has just named Nickleback as "Band of the Decade".

Any faith in humanity I may have garnered in these last ten years is gone.

Well, what are your thoughts? Is Billboard onto something? Or are they really just that stupid?

EDIT EDIT: I read a second source and this one's a bit clearer about how they came up with this. It turns the list came from sales figures. This only hurts my faith in humanity even more.

I think it may also be an achievement to have just lasted through this decade. They could have been one of the only eligible bands that have stayed relatively unchanged?

I disagree with nickleback being number 1, the only problem is i can't think of a band i would put there, though i only think they are ok i can think of alot of people who would suggest Muse. What would you put at number 1?

Doesn't strike me as the most obvious choice, but since I can't access the Billboard site I have no idea for what they got the title, and the National Post site doesn't state it either.

As far as deserving it, I really couldn't say. I don't care much for them, but if they've worked hard to get what they wanted (money I assume considering their name), then that's quite fine. I am however sure there are bands who've worked harder and not got the recognition they deserve. In my oppinion, those should get the award.

Going by those criteria, I would've personally given the title to perhaps Mustache or Sparzanza.

Erm, yay? I dunno, I don't mind listening to them and like them more than other bands. :shrug: Not really BotD material in my eyes though.

I took a look at another source and this ranking is derived purely off of sales figures. We can't argue with that, but it only goes to further reduce my faith in humanity.

I don't listen to much recent music, so I don't many bands from today... I guess my pick would simply be "not Nickleback".

As far as Nickelback is concerned, I actually don't mind them. They aren't great, but they aren't bad. However, hate them or love them, I think we can all agree they weren't band of the decade.

What a sad sad sorry decade this is.

Though if they're going on who had the most hit songs I guess it would be them. I would think it'd be one of those groups that spawned 1000's of imitators like Linkin Park or whoever the first emo band was(not that I like them all that much either)

A while back, a friend of mine told me that her favorite radio station proved a point by playing three Nickleback songs simultaneously. All three had the exact same general structure and flow.

I don't "hate" the band, per se, but seriously. Band of the decade? There's three dozen others I could nominate for that off the top of my head.
