Basically I was just wondering how many of you Escapists listened to Nine Inch Nails, or any of Trent Reznor's music. Not many people I know listen to his music so I'm hoping i'll find some people here to talk about his albums etc.
So.. What's your favorite album/song/lyric?
Love the social network soundtrack, also if you know 'Ghosts' (listen to it if you dont) then you might know this; there was a film festival where all of them got there own videos , this is my favorite
Holy shit, that is amazing! And quite... Depressing...
Where can I find the rest?
Ghosts the album is on spotify, most of them are really cool if a little wacked out, some of them are like the above one and really poignant and chilled, like 'a warm place'.

The films are all on youtube although its hard to find specific ones, most are pretty cool, begin to get you down after a while though.

Never really got into NIN, but have, over time, developed an appreciation for Broken and Downward Spiral era material.

Thanks. I already have ghosts but I was wondering about the films. I'll look them up.

I really love The Slip. It's been one of NIN's albums that I listen to more frequently. Other albums I just tend to like particular songs. Though seeing them live was an experience all should have.

Like em, don't love them.

They've made some great songs over the years and that Facebook movie soundtrack was rather perfect.

Nine Inch Nails are fucking awesome. Though their albums cost way too much. I mean really, £10 for Broken? It only has 6 tracks!
yeah there was an interview with reznor which explains the reason for the prices.

Downward Spiral and The Fragile is all i have. And they're pretty darned awesome.

I don't know many songs from the latter, but the best from downward spiral are Closer, Reptile, and Mr Self Destruct

Not a big fan of Mr Reznor, I'd rather post a few choice words from his old pal Mr Nivek Ohgr.

Hmmpfh.

You can't really go around insulting a massive band like NIN unless you can make good music. Nuff said.
you do realize that Nivek Ogre (frontman of Skinny Puppy and Ohgr) is pretty much Trent Reznor's only admitted inspiration, right? might not wanna call him crappy when he's basically NIN's godfather. don't have to like him, just keep in mind that Trent does.

also, for context, that's easily the weakest song off that album, musically. it's basically just a parody/insult toward white rappers and rap-rockers, like Eminem and Limp Bizkit, and thus not meant to sound amazing.

I'm a fan of NIN. I like more of Reznor's older stuff though.

My favorite CD is With Teeth since it was my 1st NIN CD and got me into the band (I know, I was late to the party...)

My favorite song probably has to be Every Day Is Exactly The Same [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31jenMJ0UOc] from With Teeth.

Fair enough, I just don't like that song is all. At least he's making fun of Limp Bizkit I guess.

I've heard:

Hurt
Closer

Yeah, thats it. ANd I have to say I liked Closer better. So I'm probably ntoa good person to ask.

<spoiler=ALTHOUGH><youtube=e74pFTmnfdI>
EDIT: Probably should slap on the warning of mature content. But when its the WKUK, thats something of a given.

I hear he has good inspiration

Broken is on of my go-to albums (ok, it's an EP, sue me) when I'm in a pissy mood and feel the need to destroy. It's just an angry, brutal piece of work, almost start to finish.

I listen to them. They've been my favorite band since The Downward Spiral. I own all of their commercial CD's and yeah, I love love love them. NIN has helped me through quite a few times in my life, and while the song lyrics/meanings are usually not ones I can relate to (polar opposites) I still feel a big connection to them in relation to other people & events in their lives that have affected me that way. :)
They used to be my favorite band, mostly because I COULD relate to the lyrics. They really do sound like they were written by a depressed maniac (which explains a lot). I've mostly moved on, but I still listen to the albums now and again and keep tabs on what Reznor is doing (the only reason I even went to go see The Social Network was because he had done the soundtrack). I suppose I would listen to them more if I didn't listen to them all the time back when I worshiped then.

But honestly, they are/were one of the most important projects in music.

Also, to anyone who got to see them live: *cue jealousy*

EDIT: Congrats, OP, you have decided what I'm listening to tonight. Thanks ;)

Yeah, I'm probably going to make myself sick of them in a while, which is a shame. Hopefully I can ration his albums out so that I have enough to last another release
