The fake/leaked console actually looks kind of interesting. I can see my friends and I either playing on a big screen or on our various controllers. I just hope the range on the tower is decent... we could play together in other rooms! Just like simulating Wi-Fi!

On a more serious note, simulating Wi-Fi doesn't sound all that useful, except perhaps for the ability to play more beefy games in that sort of situation.

If it's true about the controllers having monitors built into them then could they potentially make them system so that a TV screen is not required at all in order to play? You would just play the game from your controller though it also has the option from playing on your TV.

What's the logic in releasing Skyward sword on the Wii next year if a new console will be releasing?
Well, due to backward compatibility, it doesn't really matter. At the same time, Skyward Sword is releasing later this year, after OoT3D is released, so the new console should be out about a year after the latest Zelda.

OT: I'm glad Ninty finally confirmed this. I've been waiting to get a Wii (stupid college and how it drains money) and now I'll likely just wait for this. Looks like Nintendo's E3 show will be awesome this year too! (or finally, if you're one who didn't care for the 3DS announcement)
That's assuming that the Wiimote will be compatible with the next console. I suppose they could do what they did with Twilight Princess and release it on both separately.
Very true. I would hope backwards compatibility means the Wiimote will work with it (and it is Nintendo, so there's a good chance of this) but I figure the same thing for releasing it separately.

Sega tried this with the dreamcast, and we all know how that ended. It'll be interesting to see what they do, but if theyre rushing this out due to declining sales then they'll doom themselves to a world of handhelds and publishing.

I agree with SSB. I still play SSBB every day against my brother. I LOVE the game. I just hate that you have to wait 20+ minutes to find 3 enemies to play. They failed HARD on the online support with SSBB. If they make the next SSB with good online support... I can't even imagine how happy I would be.
I play SSBB online alot the long wait sucks but its worth it to play against a skilled brawler most of the time.

its weird that no one is ever in free for all just team battle but team slayer is really popular on halo reach to so i dont know...

Well Colour me indifferent.
Did any one see the announcement? It is really useless as details go so no need to hype it until six weeks.
Haha, thank you for that. It's been a loooong time, since i've seen Futurama xD
Brings back mememories. Maybe i should start watching it again. For science!

Meh, I don't care what the system is like. Until there are some decent games announced for a system I never buy the console.

In the meantime, I've got my SC2 to keep me warm ^_^

"Easy portability from PC"

I don't care if this console is only marginally better than a gaming PC from 06'/07', I would pay for a Crysis 1 port with all the graphics intact. The only thing that would really get in the way would be the RAM.

MS still got the PC market
*snortlaugh*

MS would have to work their collective balls off to get back into the PC market beyond Windows and Office.... or buy Valve. That could also work.
I didn't meant they OWN the PC market. I meant they have some presence in it unlike Sony who has no presence at all. Sony is in a much worse situation then MS.

Call me a cynic, but this translates to me as: "It will be a wii, but 5% faster than a six year old 360".
We've seen how 'revolutionary' the wii was, don't get your hopes up.

Now that the Wii will have something more powerful than the Xbox
Im sure Microsoft will have something up their sleeve for this
so be ready for something new from Microsoft within the next few months (just a guess)
Either that or they pull out by 2014. While the XBox and XBox 360 are excellent machines, they apparently are hemorrhaging money out of Microsoft. If they don't have something up their sleeves, they will probably be screwed bad and have to leave gaming.
i lol'd

hemorrhaging money? do you know how many people are paying for xbox live?
do you know how many people bought call of duty black ops and modern warfare 2 for xbox 360 as opposed to ANY other platform (and since more than 90% of those people play multiplayer, it's safe to assume that at least 2 million people are paying for multiplayer... and the games)

plus, with the kinect and new xbox and sponsorship by Oprah? yeah, "hemorrhaging" is absolutely ridiculous to say.

so anyways OT: i predict this new console will go the way of the PS3, in that it will NEVER outsell the Wii. Ever. because the masses are jackasses, and they will stick with what they know (especially in this economy) so sure, the new console may be a "success", but it will NEVER outsell the wii.

Okay, my questions:
-Will the games be better, unlike Metroid Other M?
-Will it have rehashes, like DKCR? Because we don't want 'em.
-Will Earthbound be back? I haven't played it.
-Will the internet connection be better?
-Is it Gamecube compatible?
-Will it contain Pikmin?
-What will I do with my Mii's?
-What about the revolutionairy controller?

One of the more interesting fan-theories is that you will actually be able to use a 3DS as a controller.

That could also fit with your speculation... although motion controls would be a no-go, so it wouldn't work with every game.

little screens on the controllers presenting an image generated and transmitted by the console is the most awesome thing I've ever heard of. So many possibilities. Unless of course, all the processing is done inside the controller, then that's even more awesome, but very unlikely. Imagine instead of 4 player split screen making each players view 320x240 (or something similar) on an already small screen (if your television isn't HD) you instead get 4 player where each player's view is processed by the console, then transmitted to each controllers' (hopefully 480p screen or something reasonable) screen with either the television just off, or maybe the television would show a spectator view of the map, or replay, or a scoreboard. If "project cafe" does this, I'm TOTALLY BUYING THAT SHIT.

$400 is a heafty price tag espicially if they are trying to maintain the casual market while bringing back the gamers. As for the controller Im not to worried, I mean motion controls worked out well enough and are still being refind but they are pretty fun. And people were sceptical of the DS and it is IMO the best handheld out their. I guess this is a wait and see moment, but im haveing a hard time justifying a 3DS with one game for $330, this new consoul at about what $530 with taxes seems like I might have to wait 2 years for the price to drop to $299 before I'll buy it but I know at heart Im an early adapter and just cant wait.
