Playable at E3 this year? Holy crap, that came up fast. We've only just officially heard of it. That is impressive.

Nice to see its official, but you won't catch me buying one.
Fool me once with the Game Cube, fool me twice with the Wii.
Is anyone really looking forward to playing Mario for the millionth time, Mario Galaxy Expansion Pack 3 here we come.
Or another Zelda game, or Metriod, or Yay another Curby.
I grew up with all these characters, but my god talk about beating your dead horses into the ground over and over again. I still remember getting my NES day one, and playing Mario.
But that was in the 80's.
We talk about companies releasing sequels, and complaining that their not making different games. While Nintendo is free to make Mario 55, Zelda 28, Metriode 12, Curby 17 and soo on(I know the numbers aren't accurate, you get the point).
These Ip's are supposed to be the flavour that is Nintendo now, not still their Backbone.
And what do we get in between these 20 year old IP's, some whack-a-mole game.
I have enough Mario,Zelda,Metriod,StarFox,Curby, and Wario games to sink a battle ship.

Well if it is $400 it will still be very cheap compared to the other consoles at release.

Anybody else getting a little bit of a Dreamcast vibe? Screens in the controllers, more powerful hardware that's going to be obsolete the second the competitors announce what they're going to do, early launch... In either case, I know where my tax refund next year is probably going towards.
Well, the 360 was the Dreamcast 2.0. It only makes sense the next generation of consoles would include the Dreamcast 3.0. :p

Both Sony & MS want long life cycles this time around. Plus, they both just released Move & Kinect to help extend that life. I bet they both just stick to their schedule & blow the Wii2 out of the water when they're eventually released. MS already got burned hard by rushing hardware out the door. I really don't think they're going to risk another round of RRoD with their next console.

"The sources also said that Nintendo was trying to appeal to the Western market with the Wii's successor"

Well thats a bad sign.

Aaaaaaaaaaand now Nintendo are kicking themselves for letting Bill Gates get away with Rare and running them into the ground.

Yu loved the virtual boy? How?

"(Including the Virtual Boy), so I am sure to love this too."
Not in a literal sense of course (Not into that), but it's a neat piece of Hardware and the games I have (The First 4 that were launch titles and Mario Clash) are pretty fun. I wish I had more games for it (And I wish it still worked, it won't turn on).

Now that the Wii will have something more powerful than the Xbox
Im sure Microsoft will have something up their sleeve for this
so be ready for something new from Microsoft within the next few months (just a guess)
Either that or they pull out by 2014. While the XBox and XBox 360 are excellent machines, they apparently are hemorrhaging money out of Microsoft. If they don't have something up their sleeves, they will probably be screwed bad and have to leave gaming.
i lol'd

hemorrhaging money? do you know how many people are paying for xbox live?
do you know how many people bought call of duty black ops and modern warfare 2 for xbox 360 as opposed to ANY other platform (and since more than 90% of those people play multiplayer, it's safe to assume that at least 2 million people are paying for multiplayer... and the games)

plus, with the kinect and new xbox and sponsorship by Oprah? yeah, "hemorrhaging" is absolutely ridiculous to say.

so anyways OT: i predict this new console will go the way of the PS3, in that it will NEVER outsell the Wii. Ever. because the masses are jackasses, and they will stick with what they know (especially in this economy) so sure, the new console may be a "success", but it will NEVER outsell the wii.
I had heard that it was costing Microsoft more then it was paying for them. I must be wrong though, so I'll take the statement you quoted back.

So who wants to bet that the new Zelda game will deliberately get pushed back so it can be ported to the new system for it's launch?
I regret reselling my Twillight Princess for GCN... it was a great game. EDIT: and better than its wii port.
Same here, it is worth a decent amount now. Even more than the Wii version here in the UK.

OT: I can't help but feel that this console will go the way of the Dreamcast.
