GOD, I hate Reggie's guts. Believe me, I'm going to stare right back until the actual Fils-Amie gets chills...

OT: I am not going to debate whether or not the new lineup of Wii games for the "hardcore" fans are going to be good, but I would like to point out something.

The Move (I am the resident Sony fanboy here, don't know much about Natal/Kinect) are showing off games that utilize and take advantage of the controller. From what I've seen, Metroid: Other M, Kirby's Epic Yarn, and DK Country: Returns can all be played with just a standard controller. The motion controls, like so many other Wii games, could easily just be shoehorned in with a few motion movements and that's it.

With the Move, Sony has shown games that can support Move functionality. And these games are no "casual" games, they're some heavy hitters in there like Killzone 3, SOCOM 4, Heavy Rain, and a few others. These games use the motion control fully, they can be interchanged between the two forms of controllers (Dualshock vs. Move), and neither detracts from the experience (as far as I know, I haven't played them yet). They're no "point here, do a thrust motion, move here, point here" from what I've seen, it's all an integral part of the controls.

Of course, I'll admit, I'm biased as hell.

Or maybe it's Reggie. God I hate his guts, I'd bet anything that if Iwata or Miyamoto said this I'd be a bit more humble....

Considering one of those other motion sensors cost shitloads, I doubt this statement will be proven wrong.

Lol, spoken like a man who's scared and pissed that both of his company's competitors are embarrassing it by seriously beating it at its own game :D Seriously, both Move and Kinect do motion control in a far more sophisticated way than the Wii, and Kinect has the bonus of voice control. Considering that motion control is the only unique selling point of the Wii (other than price, but I wouldn't pay that much for last-gen processing and graphics anyway, I'd just buy a gamecube on ebay) and they aren't even the best at that anymore. Reggie is scared, and if he isn't then he should be.

There's another unique selling point...it's called Nintendo's first party lineup. Another one? Virtual console. Call me when Microsoft and Sony have access to classic Nintendo exclusives spanning 5 generations.

I dunno, I find that image rather terrifying.

Like a "No Officer, I don't know how the knife got in her." kinda look.

Frankly I think that Sony and Microsoft were doing just fine without the need for this kind of stuff. Let Nintendo hold on to their motion technology. It's all they have to hope for...

This remains to be seen, of course, but personally I think the Kinect and Move are too expensive to compete for the Wii's target audience. Including the console costs, they're too expensive for me too.
That's the trouble here. The Wii is being sold to everyone, the Kinect and Move are being sold to current Xbox 360/PS3 owners, and if you want to go from zero to having a Kinect it ends up running you $450, more than two times what a Wii cost SEVERAL YEARS AGO. Didn't these guys learn anything from the 32X and Sega CD? Of the two of them Sony is being slightly more intelligent by giving developers some incentive to add Move support to existing games, but it's still a huge goddamn peripheral with a huge goddamn price tag, and nobody likes having to buy a peripheral to play a new game.

I may sound racist, but the title made me laugh when I imagined it said by a japanese person. "Nintendo Promises Much Punishment!" Just grammatically so bad.

But as for the main point, I don't think that Sony Move or Xbox Kinect will do either any good, because I don't see it being a huge selling point to third party developers. Sure Fable is jumping on Kinect, and there may be some minigames to play for the Move, but I doubt that there will be any serious dedication to it by 3rd partys.

The Wii was dedicated to it, and it did smashingly well because of just how new and exciting it was, but it has since lost a bit of it's luster. M$ and $ony now think they can get a piece of the pie, but I'm not sure just how much is really there.

But I can always be wrong.

Nintendo kind of pulled a fast one on the games market this year. After years of leading sales with their motion controles and "casual" games, now they're coming out with a ton of new games from their core franchises as Sony and Microsoft try to fit into the casual thing that Nintendo's been going for lately.

I'm interested to see if people will flock to the new products, or if they'll stick with Nintendo (since they already bought the system) and just play the new games. Honestly, I'm betting on the latter.

Id have to agree with you, i don't really see Sony or Microsoft taking much of the casual market away from Nintendo though, since Nintendo already has a pretty large fanbase.

As for my opinion, Kinect and Move will sell enough to pay off for the development of the products but they won't sell enough to even come close to what the Wii has accomplished. Which is, you know, selling enough systems to become the most successful video game console of all time. Just sayin'...
Hey now, that's a lie. A complete and utter lie.

The DS is continuing to outsell the Wii and everything else by at least double.

Nintendo remaking remakes of remakes of old games that were cool back when there wasn`t much competitions. Meh

I`m not a fan of Xbox360 or PS3 but at least they make games I wanna play.

Yes because i'd be scared of something that doesnt work while you sit down and can't do more than 2 people at once(Kinect).
And Move can't have more than 2 players using both the lollypop and nunchuck at the same time due to blutooth limitations means that Nintendo is still the only company with motion controls that allow 4 people to play simultaneously with the full package of things.

*sniffs* God i love the smell of pwned fanboys in the morning

The only remake was Goldeneye. You might be confusing the term "Remake" with terms like "Sequel" or "Series." Just because a new game features a character that has been used before doesn't make it a remake.

OT: Move and Kinect have potential, but it's a far throw to reach Nintendo's success in the casual market. Not to say they'll fail outright. The two seem more fine tuned towards Motion Control and stray away from being actual controllers. With the Wiimote you can at least include subtle movements as in "Wario Land: Shake it" and "Super Paper Mario" where you can play using the controller as a controller and use motion control when needed. Move doesn't look like it was designed with that in mind, what with it's ping-pong balls and upright design. Even more so with the Kinect in which there's no controller. Though after some though you could probably picture a Kinect/Controller combo where your position from the screen affects camera or more subtle effects on screen.

In the end though, It all leads to Virtual Reality.

Call it whatever it suits you best. The truth is the stench of old and uninspired resides within all three terms.

For being old and uninspired it sure sells well...
Just saying...

...

Anyway, the folks down at Nintendo are doing pretty well for themselves. Draw in the casual crowd. Check. Get them hooked. Check. Release half ton of AAA titles. If E3 is any indication, check. ?(get casuals hooked on AAA titles (Zelda, DK, Mario, etc.))? Profit out the wazoo. Check, check, and triple check.

Not that the other companies will do bad for themselves. They'll do well. They just won't draw in the casual crowd. Nintendo already owns their souls.
