Actually the way I've heard it is that the kind code will not allow you to save your game if you use it to get past even one area, and basically I think it's kinda brilliant.. it means they can make games for hardcore but still allow it to be accessible by Casuals.. therefore they don't have to dumb down games to make it casual accessible.

Its a weird idea but I could imagine some situations where I might use it. I hate it when I spend 60 bucks on a game and the third level includes a super triple backwards jump or a dumb puzzle I cant solve. I try it 5 times, 10 times, 50 times but If I still cant solve that damn puzzle or make that super backwards triple jump I just quit the game and put it back on the rack-unfinished because of that one lousy jump. 60 bucks wasted! :(
So I think I would use this feature just for that one jump/puzzle/unfair part, switch it off again and play through the rest of the game by myself.
I love games and I love challenges but I think that there are plenty of games with "unfair" sections/ flawed gameplay that prevent many people from finishing a game they spent a lot of money on. A feature like that could help them and me to have FUN instead of frustration.

So in other words, Mario has gone from being one of the most difficult game series of all time
I'm going to stop you right there: Seriously?
I'm talking about the older ones. I was never good at the original Mario games.

I've said it to people many times before, and I'll say it again:

How the hell is the human race supposed to develop if the youth keeps getting pampered more and more everyday?

Using this feature would be a sign that your gaming has gone terribly wrong. Sort of like thinking that your relationship with alcohol was healthy then waking up in a pool of your own sick. Game journalists will love it. Hardcore "core" mature gamers will love it because it will let them experience the artistic story of Mario games without having to sully themselves with mere tests of gaming skill.

A more real concern is that game companies will ship games with very poor sections then use this as an excuse. Like, you can just skip through that part, why are you complaining.

Yup, that's where I first heard of it a few months back, but my opinion still stands in that it's not a very good idea.

The fuck? Is Nintendo so desperate for casual game cash that they have to make the games play themselves? Or is it that they're just fucking idiots?
technically most games are now so easy that they do play themselves.

I remember a time, not so long ago, where you shit got fucked up for the slightest mistake, then the quick save key arrived and their was much rejoicing.

Seriously, learn to play games better, bitching about something not being used now to make the game easier is bullshit, games are very easy now.

Try Shinobi, thats like Ninja Gaiden but 20 times harder.

I actually heard about something like this a while ago from the Game Overthinker. Still is an odd idea, to say the least.

And here's the appropriate Penny Arcade comic:

While this does sound somewhat stupid, I really must ask- what is the difference between doing this and watching somebody play it on youtube, or getting a friend to help you. All it is is really just a built-in "big brother," to play the hard parts for you. There is no need to get upset.

NOTE- That said, if I were him, I would NOT include this option. The people who need it probably won't realize that they can use it, and the people who know about it are offended by it (I know that I would never use it). I could see some really interesting things coming of it, though...having the game play itself may actually be more entertaining than the Super Mario Bros movie.

I've seen something similar in one of the Full Metal Alchemist games for the PS2 actually... I continuously failed this stupid pillar jumping thing for about half an hour (in the FIRST TEN MINUTES of the game.) It laughed at me and skipped to a cut scene that did it automatically for me. That was actually the hardest part in the game as it obviously wasn't meant to be a platformer.

I don't agree with doing it but euhm....

how is this different from asking a friend to play that part for you????

....

just a question don't shoot me now.....

(ok for the lesser in intelligence people this means I don't want this feature)
That's not even nearly better.
Is it really a good option to call your friend, wait a few hours until he gets free time and arrives at your house, then wait for him to first say "Hi" to you, take his shoes off, come into your room etc, and then let him just play for 10 seconds to get through the part you couldn't?

Why not just instant help?
