*Sigh*. Nintendo, I weep for thee. You were king yet you made many, many, MANY mistakes. But this... just... *sigh*... I'm speechless.
Lost Levels disagrees. That game was madness, and above middle of the pack difficulty. Granted Contra, Super Ghouls&Ghosts and (possibly) Ninja Gaiden were harder, but it doesn't change the fact that this game was nails.BloodSquirrel said:Even the older ones were, at best, middle-of-the-pack difficulty. Not easy, but nowhere even close to something like Super Ghouls&Ghosts, Ninja Gaiden, or Contra.ZeroMachine said:I'm talking about the older ones. I see something like this primarily for children. You know, five year olds and what not.
These. For the love of all that's holy, these.SecretTacoNinja said:Who cares...? It's a option for little kids, they're not forcing anyone to use it.
No, no it isnt, they are not going to get into harder games, because if they can't do Mario DS Wii (the one for the DS wasnt particuarly challenging and this one is a port) they are not going to be able to do anything, and their skill won't increase because they don't actually have to think or play. So even buying the game is pointlessGladion said:How is watching a friend play a hard part in a game for you any different from watching the game play a hard part in itself?Puppet M. said:[...]It is one thing to ask a friend over to help beat the level for you[...]
I heard about this feature, and if they want to release it, fine by me, I (probably) won't use it - and if it helps get casual gamers more into hardcore games and thus make real games more popular, why not?
Edit: I've put some thought into this thing. I probably would use that feature, just to see wtf the crappy AI is going to dowatching stupid bots is always amazingly entertaining.
"Mario" and "most difficult game series" does not compute. Also, games playing themselves is absolutely retarded and should be forbidden by law. Epic gaming assistance is what friends and internet is for, not the game itself.ZeroMachine said:So in other words, Mario has gone from being one of the most difficult game series of all time to being the first series to have the game play itself.
The fuck, Nintendo... seriously...
I guess it all depends on what cheapens the experience more: having to use a pre-saved game to get past a certain point, or having to give up entirely because you can't get past the part and can't reasonably devote the time to learn how to do it. I suspect "core" and "casual" gamers would have two different answers.not a zaar said:There have been a few times in a game where I wished I could just skip a boss or part of a level. But, having it done for you (via a saved game or this or what have you) kind of cheapens the experience.
Because if you can't even beat one game without help, than dammit, you don't deserve to play games! The Great JT said:It's official, they've crossed the line into "casual gaming land."
If you think Mario is hard how the hell did you ever manage to play through any of the Metroid games? A strategy guide?ZeroMachine said:So in other words, Mario has gone from being one of the most difficult game series of all time to being the first series to have the game play itself.

Oh...god...now I wanna play that one...ColdStorage said:thats like Ninja Gaiden but 20 times harder.
What? With the exceptions of the first and kind of the second, the Metroid games are easy. And as for how I can be good at them and be bad at Mario, they require drastically different types of skills.AceDiamond said:You. Turn in your gamer card. There i fixed that for you.CarbonEagle said:That sort of defeats the purpose of playing doesnt it. I geuss if your 5 years old it would be nice but thats definately the MAJORITY.
Yeah I refuse to believe a platformer with one objective (go from point a to point b) is so much harder than a game where you're pretty much given a boot in the ass and pointed in no particular direction. Laughable. Simply Laughable. The only skill difference in either is your ability to memorize locations (in the case of the Metroid games before maps existed) and one's ability to land on an enemy and kill them. And yes, I am going off the deep end here.ZeroMachine said:What? With the exceptions of the first and kind of the second, the Metroid games are easy.
