I have a history of loitering around the Soul Calibur 4 online multiplayer. I love this game for whatever reason, but this isn't what this topic is about.
While on their I keep finding myself becoming the victim of the No Girls Allowed club. When I enter matches I occasionally will get sneared at for being a girl. One of my favourite most recent lines I had to take before being kicked was: "God, this is why girls suck at games, they have to cheat to beat a guy!"

Just tell those people they are never going to get laid because they have no respect for women.

OT: All of that disrespect is because weak guys want tio make themselves feel bigger by insulting and harrasing women, and I think that is disgusting and dispicable

Must be annoying for you. Hate that such a high percentage on things like xbox live are dicks. I don't hear much racism though, I guess they pick what they can get away with.

About 60 percent of guys online are whiny brats who can't comprehend that girls are also human beings and have the ability to play games just as well as they do. If you think Soul Calibur is bad, I have a friend who is a girl who kicks ass at MW2 and you should see the revolting abuse she gets from guys on that game, it's actually pretty sickening.

Gamers can be worse then school kids, disgraceful sometimes IMO. Find other, better people to play with, kids like that arn't worth your time

I remember getting seriously beaten in every training session I had with the resident girl gamer in the very first clan I played in for UT2003. That was fun She was 'JuneIvy' or Juney as I used to say.

Since then I've seen and known many very good players in UT2003/4 (I haven't really played any other games online so I can speak for other communities).

OT: Just try to ignore people like that. If they act that idiotically then clearly they aren't worth your time.

I have a friend who plays she's not good but we she plays better than my brother and her brother, just when nerds like my other friend and I play with her she is in trouble.

In all seriousness. When boys first started noticing these things called "girls" that made them feel funny on the inside, a lot of them tried to fend off these strange feelings by being mean to girls. Some of them never moved past that stage.

why is it that girls have to take this kind of smack talk? I realize that there will always be smack-talk online, however it seems girls get attacked from the moment we enter a room.

People are stupid. Though why there is a paticular amount of stupidity around this subject is beyond me.

I've heard theories that it has to do with the fact video games seem to be a male dominated industry/pasttime/whatever. Coupled with the anomaly that the internet gives anyone, it makes it easy to attack "outsiders." A similer effect I think (I really don't watch American Football or much else) can be observed in other sports as well though there little anomoly in those areas.

I've also heard that these traits can be traced back to some gentic. . . . I find people are stupid to be much easier.

Not being involved in that, I have no idea how it works but I'm guessing a mic connection makes it obvious you're female. If there was some way of making ethnicity or nationality just as obvious over a voice link, then there'd be as many racial or national epithets passing through the ether at anyone who wasn't that jerk's race or countryman. Your gender is targeted because it's an easy source of ammo.

I saw this happen to a girl in Killzone (on PS2) the one time I got online.

I did ok, but not great, she was slaughtering everyone. Had a really obvious girly name, and guys just gave her hell after the match.

I reported everyone in the game but her, and didn't try playing it online again.

Wasn't until I got Resistance on my PS3 that I tried online FPS gaming again after that.

PC gamers are often a little better, and if you find a good group to stick with, you can get away with it.

My best friend's a girl gamer, and the games she plays, she's usually better at than me. She's a button masher in fighting games though.
