I understand why he's stopping.
The quality of NC episodes ranged from snooze-fests to guffaw-worthy, so quitting while he was ahead is a good move.
Luckily, I go there for others: JesuOtaku, Oancitizen, WTFIWWY, Film Brain....
So, yeah I will still frequent the site, maybe just not as often.

I've seen this coming for a while. The bombardment of crossovers felt like mopping up before retiring the character, and even though I don't watch the anniversary specials, NC was wrapped up in the "Scooby Doo" special, after which, many people thought that he was already retired.

Honestly though, having watched Doug Walker's explanation, I'm not as devastated as I thought I'd be. It's wierd, sure. It seems like it's been there for ages, one of those things you never really expect to end, but it did. I have a feeling I'll be getting this a lot, as one of the first generations to have these kind of internet comedians/shows as part of my entertainment diet. One day, Tobuscus may decide he's too old for doing eccentric Lets plays. Freddie Wong might move onto bigger things. Hell, maybe yahtzee'll decide he's done all he can with his review format one day.

Overall, however, it seems like it was the right thing to do.

Ah well. There's always Nostalgia Chick, Todd in the Shadows, JessuOtaku, PushingUpRoses, Linkara, Angry Joe, and Rap Critic to watch! :D
unrelated but the site is seriously DYING for a rediegn..to somone new to the whol e"internet show" thing it really does not encourage "branching out" into the other (arguable better) shows like the ones you mentioned
Indeed. Rap Critic deserves WAY more views than he usually gets.

Also, your avatar... D'AAAWWW... :D
Oh jesus yes, Rap Critic deserves more views. Todd also seems underwatched. Matter of fact, one of the best things to come out of this might be that some of the people outside of the big popular videos get more views, people like Welshy, Lupa, Rap critic, Todd, and Diamanda Hagan.

Hmmm, well that's a shame but in truth it was getting stale. Guess this will let other reviews get into the spotlight, be interesting to see where this goes.

He's lost his edge for a while but that didn't stop me from checking in once a week to see the next review. He was the highlight of my Tuesday in many ways.

I don't really come to the site for anything else. AngryJoe has his own website plus a Youtube account. I sometimes watch Nostalgia chick and Phealous but only if they happen to upload. Guess I'll check the new stuff and if I don't like it well...then I have no incentive to be on the site any longer.

He was starting to do way too many 'crossover' reviews (which IMO are rarely entertaining) and it was almost nonstop crossovers since the Signs review.
The Scooby Doo review, which is now going to forever be NC's last review, was an absolute mess. There was hardly any actual reviewing at all. It was 90% "To Boldly Flee" references.

Obviously nothing lasts forever and he had to end it at some point but I just wish he ended it on a better note. Now I get a sour taste in my mouth when I look at his latest reviews and I doubt I'll ever watch his review finale again.

Well, can't say I didn't see it coming (not so early though, I admit). A lot of people are saying that he shouldn't do it, because of the poor quality of the show lately, and well, that's the point. He's struggling to keep the character relevant and that could easily be seen in anyone of his vids He's quickly running out of ideas, so before he becomes a washed-up has-been, a shadow of his former self, he instead decides to stop it, which I can respect. Not to say that solutions for this problem couldn't have been found, but again, it would've never been as good as it was in the old days, so good on him.

As for his new shows and the whole casting thing, there's only one thing I can really say - I HOPE MOST OF HIS AMATEUR DRAMATICS AREN'T GONNA BE IN IT. You know who I'm talking about, those internet-celebrity-wanna-be's that keep popping up in his videos in all sorts of cameos and stuff(I don't even know their bloody names, but basically 90% of the cast of 'Kickassia'). Excluding that bold funny guy who was in the Moulin Rouge review, and the Cinema Snob - these guys are pretty good. The rest of 'em can go suck on a lead pipe (no offense). Maybe I'm the only one who thinks like that, for which I'm sorry. Truly sorry. But overall I think it might be a good idea, especially with the studio they bought, the quality ought to be great. Looking forward to it.

I am so happy right now that I may just buy a cake, because I am literally celebrating, except for the fact that Doug Walker isn't quitting, but at least he finally realized that the Nostalgia Critic shtick was getting a tad old (read: has gotten so old by now that his videos can probably be considered a form of elder abuse in some states). Now if only phelous, and about 80% of TGWTG, and approx 99% of reviewtopia, and reviewers unknown would quit, then the internet would be a better place and maybe people's standards would raise enough so that Satan could go into his basement and not have to worry about stubbing his toe on the frickin' bar. *sigh* Dream lofty dreams as the saying goes, dream lofty dreams.

Ehh as Dr.Seuss said "Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened." Don't know what people are talking about with the older ones being better, but to each his own. In fact I think it's one of the few things that I can say remained a pretty steady quality.

No, he was fired, for threatening to rape Lupa.
Your summary of the situation is not only factually incorrect, but its absurd brevity also makes it lie of omission even if you had your facts straight.

OT:
Oh well. It's unfortunate that he stopped doing the NC. Now there's barely any reason to visit TGWTG anymore.

I don't even want to consider that.

Yahtzee has gotten old but it would just seem so weird not having his new videos around because he's still kind of funny.
Well, that's kind of what I'm saying. NC has simply been a part of my weekly routine for so long, that although I'm okay with it ending, it'll be just really wierd for it not to be there.

Hmmm. Kind of sad, I remember seeing my first review in like... 2008. Even so, I haven't been on the site in a year or so. I doubt this new show will get nearly as popular, but it's good to see them move forward.

Oh wow. I've been watching nostalgia critic since his Pokemon: the first movie review. That was a really long time ago. It just feels really strange that something that's been a weekly thing for me for almost 4 years has ended.

Really not surprised at all, his formulaic approach to reviewing was starting to show badly. I hope he gets his show together and comes up with some good stuff. Between Spoony, Angry Joe and Cinema Snob I'm pretty much done with TGWTG. The reviewers on there just aren't that good.
