Okay, fine. He threatened to rape Lupa, proceeded to act like a gigantic jerkoff, burned every bridge he could get in contact with, then concoted some bullshit about "wanting to do my own thing" so he could be fired with dignity he did not deserve.
That's still a rather harsh assessment. But let's not belabour the point.
I'll just point out one more thing - his tasteless rape 'joke' was directed at JesuOtaku. Not Lupa.

I don't feel particularly sad or anything. The show was good but creators do need to move on, and should do. This is a step in the right direction and I eagerly look forward to whatever they end up producing next.

This is a sad day, I am looking forward to Demo Reel though and maybe Nostalgia Critic was just the first step to bigger things.

That being said though, TGWTG is really bad now apart from a handful of people (mainly CR and Todd in the Shadows) and most of the bigger reviewers on the site are awful (Phelous and Nostalgia Chick are the worst).

I think AVGN will not be far behind in retiring the character, after the movie I think he will end it.

As much as I loved "To Boldly Flee"... the ending left me feeling a bit empty inside. I understand why Doug would want to move on from the character... but it'll take me a while to adjust. I'll still keep watching his stuff, though, and wish him good luck in his future endeavors.

Meh, never watched it (or anything from TGWTG actually) so this doesn't affect me one way or the other.

I'm incredibly disappointed. He ends the NC series and gives us a bunch of bile that is "To Boldly Flee". Let's hope after a few years all the shit that came out 2000-2010 will be considered "nostalgic" enough for him to pick it up again.

The Nostalgia Critic is the only thing I visit TGWTG for. I've looked into other people on the website and found myself bored beyond belief. Trust me, I too am surprised that NC is the only person on that website that actually entertained me.

I'll miss you Doug. Hopefully you'll pick up something soon that interests me.

As a sort of footnote, even though I am somewhat upset by Doug quitting the Nostalgia Critic, he does get quite a bit of respect from me, simply for ending it before it gets bad.

I'm sad to see it go (I've been a fan since 2008) but it's good to see that he isn't afraid to move on and try new ideas. All I can say is good luck to Doug and Rob in their future projects, and thanks for four years of laughs.

Wow, that's kinda sad. His videos are excellent, but I do support him ending it while he's ahead, so to speak. There's nothing worse than a great concept slowly dying due to lack of ambition and ideas from its creator, so Doug ending it before it reaches that point is something I'm happy to hear and I definitely look forward to what he has in store next.

Angry Joe on Youtube?
YAY! Actually, I would be happy if he just went away period, but I'll take what I can get.
To each their own, but what's the matter with Joe? He's a decent reviewer, provided he doesn't slobber over what he's reviewing, and the "reviewtainment" format sometimes makes it hard to really get to whether or not he likes a given game.

Like, say, Sleeping Dogs. He gives it an average rating, but you can clearly tell he was having a lot of fun with the premise of the game.

Good, I thought he he sucked.
I will admit I found a few of his videos entertaining but the majority I just didn't like.
The guy seems nice and all... I just don't particularly enjoy his stuff.

[sub]I don't usually come into threads to say something sucks, but I thought I'd throw a bit of a different opinion in here.
Also it's better to burn out than to fade away.[/sub]

Was anyone else appalled to see Spoony in To Boldly Flee after he was apparently fired from Channel Awesome, especially with JesOtaku? The person he sexually harassed? IMHO that was very ignorant on Doug and Rob Walker's part.
They filmed TBF in April, months before Spoony's Twitter meltdown. Also, he wasn't fired, he quit. Factcheck before posting, please.

Wow, I made the mistake of reading this while listening to the song "Cat's in the Cradle." Double your sad, anyone?

Well, I'm gonna miss the critic, but TBH, I already watched more Linkara and Nash than NC, so no huge deal for me. Still... end of an empire...
