Again I have to refer the ending to Fallout 2. You defeated the Enclave, saved the people on the rig, killed the colonel, and escaped back to the wastes. We got our epilogue, saw the credits and were dumped back into the game. A good number of the Fallout fanboys still regard this game as the greatest in the series. And at the end of that game not only did Black Isle give us our wasteland to explore, they gave us a way to buff our characters to the max and gave us one last quest, GO NUTS. We did so and we all enjoyed it.
Most at launch considered it a gross bastardization of their series.
At launch my friend, at launch. Talk to any fanboy this day and age and theyll say that Fallout 3 is the bastardization and that Fallout 2 was the epitome of the franchise.

I definitely plan to get New Vegas...and mod the hell out of it. There were end-game workaround mods for FO3; it's not going to be that hard to rig it up again.

It IS a pain in the tuchus, though.

"Hey guys, you know that bit that nobody liked in Fallout 3? Well we're going to put it in our game too! Lol XD !!! " - Obsidian. Well, at least they acknowledged community feedback before utterly ignoring it.

Good, I guess?

Still, even if Obsidian isn't pissing on the carpet anymore it needs to go back to developer school...

True enough. I wonder though, given that the similarities to fanboy complaints are so similar revolving around 2 and 3 if something similar won't happen a few more years down the road.

Me? I've enjoyed every Fallout game I've ever played. So in an odd way, that may not make me a fanboy?

Anywho, Chris Avellone was head writer for Fallout 2, so here's hoping for New Vegas. The man as I said did in fact write the book on Fallout.

Eh, as long as it doesn't end on such a poor ending as the original Fallout 3 ending, it'll be fine by me. I just don't want any more of the following nonsense:
Okay, so I have a pretty decent radiation suit on, and I took some Rad X before going in the chamber, so I'm only gaining about 2 or 3 rads per second (or maybe it was a bit higher, but not an OMG I'M GONNA DIE rate). And I only have to be in there for about 10 seconds tops, so I should have no trouble ducking in, starting the machine, and ducking out. I can get out of this just fine...

NOPE! says the game. You die anyway, because we said so. FUCKING. STUPID. Yeah, sure. I can see how they are trying to go for the whole "sacrifice yourself for the greater good" thing there, but it just seemed so utterly stupid to me given what I did above with the radiation shielding and not even needing to be in there that long. It just really rubbed me the wrong way, and I put my money up front for the Broken Steel pack (and "You're dead lolololol!" retcon) as soon as they put it on the Playstation Store.

"Hey, remember that thing that pissed a lot of people off about Fallout 3?"

"The dying at the end thing? Yeah."

"We should totally do that!"

Really, I wasn't that bothered by the ending of Fallout 3 (I had a save to load from before I went on the final mission, thankfully), but I find it hard to follow their logic here.

Also, I assume this means the protagonist either dies or a major change occurs in the end of New Vegas. I wonder which it will be.

If I could play as a pacifist that would be amazing, I plan to see how far I can get in TOR without combat and have a habit of maxing interaction skills in most RPGs. If the game can still be as fun and rewarding without combat then count me in.

Well, reload a save was exactly what people did in Fallout 3?
Yes.

Personally, the only problem with Fallout 3 was the conversation systems. They've yet to show how Fallout New Vegas will be different when it comes to this.

That sux! Fallout is about running through the wastes shooting stuff. Why are they putting all this story faggotry in Fallout?

So do we get DLC that will open up the ending in new vegas or not? It never says specifically and if so when is it released.
didn't you read? playing after you finish will destroy their vision of the game. DLC will do what they don't want. Christ comprehension is dead in today's world.
"Comprehension is dead Fnarr Fnarr he cant read what it doesnt say lololololol"

That's you. Thats what you sound like. If you had any common sense you'd know that a lot of people are going to play on and will pay for that option. The devs will know this and will undoubtedly cash in on this. It doesnt destroy their vision of the game it gives players the option to if they want to pay for it.

Wasn't this what people flipped shit about in Fallout 3 before the DLC?
Read the damn text.
I quite like this, i didn't really understand why people were so fussed over about F3's ending. Just reload a save, some games have endings ok?
For some of us, it was the fact that the ending was rushed, made no sense, had gaping logical holes, and directly contradicted what Todd Howard promised during his pre-launch hype-a-thon.

...Then you had to pay 15 dollars to fix it.
To me, that didn't send the message of "Oh, we made a mistake and we're actually going to take the chance to fix it!", rather, it sounded more like "Hah! Well, if you weren't happy with that ending, either suck it up or pay us 15 dollars!"

The core plot should be something you don't have to rewrite after the game has been released.
Fix bugs? Yeah. But rewrite? No.

Uh... cool.
To be honest, I effin' loved the original Fallout 3 ending (in which you YES NO SPOILERS GO INTO THE CONTROL CHAMBER AND MELT TO GOO WHILE WATCHING BENJAMIN FRANKLIN... or George Washington? xD) because it was, well... kinda heroic. It was good closure for somebody who struggled for the good and never compromised his ideals. Maybe I concentrate too much on story (and yes, not everyhing in the game was that good) I kinda make up for my character, but hey, it feels good. And I hated Broken Steel, because there was no appropriate music when
Optimus Prime
dies.
Why did you put a spoiler tag for
Liberty Prime's death
but not the
main character's ruddy death
.

Seems a bit moronic.
Because everybody who ever even looked at a Fallout 3 forum (let alone played the game) knows you die at the end.
However
the effin robot
's death is not known to those who didn't buy the DLC. And if you call me out on being moronical again, I'm gonna call the puppet man. You wouldn't want that.
No... No I wouldn't... isolation and a box of puppets, what are they smoking up at Bethesda?

Oh and Morinical is supposed to be ironic, right?

That right there is what I wanted to see, even if they have a little message pop up saying it is the point of no return. Can't be any worse than the "you are about to leave Vault 101, would you like to change your gender?" box...
You mean like in Far Cry 2 when you

Ok, that actually makes me want to play through that game now, but can't really answer that question because I dunno what you are talking about... I bought it about a year ago and played it for maybe 20 minutes... Damn you Steam holiday sales!

The final mission was fairly obviously the last one in Fallout 3, they just didn't tell us that would be it afterward. That was the only beef I had.
