I personally don't have an issue with the Mass Effect relationships one they are optional and two I don't have this issue about how relationships are handled in video games. I mean lets be honest at there is talking involved instead of said person being attracted to you by pure awesomeness.

Plus my thing is in say mass effect I am the sole person who can save the universe even coming back from death to do so yet my relationships are at the whim of how they would function in "real life". Honestly some relationships in "real life" would make mass effect seem pretty probable.

You can say I have low expectations but as long as the relationships in games are not cheesy romance novel or 80s action flick nonsense which I do not think Bioware has ever done then I have no issue with it.

Also not to sound like a prude but sex for some reason just obstructs plot flow which is why I think they just put it on the side.

Also as other have said nothing beats the romance options in Saints Row 4 god that was an amazing game.

Well, there's the problem... These "romances" are not about romance, but about getting to the money shot. That moment where all that talk finally pays off, and you get into his/her pants/panties.
As a socially retarded 27 year old man-child, I relate entirely to this approach to relationships.

All joking aside though, I do find 'relationship' mechanics in games to be pretty cringe-worthy and pointless. I wanna blow shit up, not chase birds/blokes - If I wanted to do the latter I'd turn off the computer/console and go meet people.

Peter Molyneux: Haven't played the Fable series so I don't know how it works in that game. Can anyone fill me in?
edit: I've been suitably informed. Thanks all!
You fart at them for a bit, do a fetch quest then spend money on a wedding and then nothing happens aside from the possibility of having sex which you can't see and having a child with no purpose.

I love romance options in video games. I actually prefer them to be there and I get excited when I hear a game has them. I love Bioware for their romance options. I loved Alistir especially in Dragon Age Origins. But then I'm also a romantic kind of person so things like that just make me happy. Hell it's the reason I love Harvest Moon so damn much.

Though I do kind of wish they wouldn't throw Liara at me. My poor Shep just wanted Kaiden, wanted to be friends with Liara and ended up having a sad conversation with her about not wanting to take our friendship further. The same thing with Leliana in Dragon Age Origins. For gods sakes don't take my friendship as wanting more!
