And I don't think their will be a nuclear war for some time. I dunno just call it a hunch, or woman's intuition.

Why not? The US is the single greatest military power in the world. We can do what we want if we need to. Besides, if we really felt threatened, we could have our carriers off the coast bomb the country into oblivion before they can even launch their missiles. Strategic fighter/bomber strikes on North Korean missile sites to neutralize the nuclear threat.

The only problem would be China not liking the US and her allies moving in on Chinese borders. The solution here would have to be, if anything, a quick strategic blow across North Korea, but not a full on invasion, so China still has her buffer zone and the US gets to show that crazy little midget dictator not to screw with nuclear arms.

Still, this is a bad scene.

Well, I live in the US... so I kinda have to side with the US. If only because they're not gonna nuke themselves.

I kinda wish I didn't live in the US right now.

North Korea are posturing again then?

Its an entire country that seems to act like an insane peacock.

OT: IF there was a nuclear war I'd side with the yanks. The entire North korean country appears to be off its rocker. Though, saying that I still think they're smart enough not to start a nuclear war with America. I mean they've lasted this long.

NK just wants some attention...
If that crazy guy they call a leader does launch a nuke, he's in trouble.
Notice that all the countries around him also have nukes, and some of them are US's allies.

North Korea is just bluffing. They always do this sort of thing whenever a joint excersize happens. They just love to whine and cry about how America and South Korea are the ones stoking the flames of war when in reality the North Koreans are the ones who are always trying to provoke hostilities so that they can take over the entire peninsula. Besides, if they were to actually resume the Korean War (it is not technically over) then they would lose. Don't buy too much into Pyongyang's rhetoric.

Huh, and i used to think a argument between Russia and America would lead to the apocalypse, either way, if a war starts, were ALL screwed.

This is a stupid opinion founded on ignorance, if you don't mind me saying. Nobody in their right mind would side with North Korea, as it is a truly insane Orwellian State. The people are brainwashed, starving, and the government is doo-lally.

A good documentary about this can be found at http://www.vbs.tv/newsroom/vice-guide-to-north-korea-1-of-14.

Another, more humourous example is http://www.cracked.com/article_17165_6-reasons-north-korea-funniest-evil-dictatorship-ever.html

And for the record, their Nuclear Weapons are absolutely laughable. The most they could do is hit the very closest tip of Alaska, killing one Polar Bear in the process.
Exactly.

I know it sounds kind of patriotic and stupid to say that America is right on this one, but we are. Its no longer an opinion. The leader of this country is fucking insane.

He told everyone to go out on their lawns and take a shit in the grass. For him.

And half the reason he is pissed at us is because we won't feed the country anymore.

North Korea is apparently just won the douchebag of the world award to me. Anyone who threatens anyone else with nuclear war is just a dickhead.

North Korea has no functional ICBM capability, and the capability of their medium- and short-range ballistic missiles to carry their nukes is sketchy at best.

If it's between nuking someone and being nuked I'm fairly certain we would put a crater a few miles deep where North Korea used to be lol.

OT:
In all honesty I think an invasion of North Korea is in order. I'm sure people are going to say "but they have nukes blah blah" but I think with proper strategy we could nullify the possibility of them actually shooting a nuke off. I don't care if people think America is trying to be the police of the world, some people are just too dangerous to be left on their own.

ehh, nothing to really worry about, they N korea bairly has a missile that can reach Hawaii
They're also blowhards.

However, you might be forgetting that they have conducted missile tests where they fired one right over Japan, one of their most critical opponents, and S. Korea has been their most hated enemy for decades. They don't have to reach us to do some damage. China and Russia also defend N. Korea constantly, China having at least 24-40 missiles pointed our way, Russia having more nukes than America, so the worst case scenario is that they nuke and we retaliate, bringing the retaliation of China and Russia upon us...or we just do this:
Which is basically the same thing we did after they blew up a S. Korean ship for no reason.
Im not forgetting anything, what Im saying is the best they can do is maybe possibly nuke hawaii they cant possibly threaten the us mainland really at all, if they pull something then china isnt going to go to their aid, things have changed now, and russia never had more nukes then the us, unless you can find some good numbers to back up that claim
You just completely missed my point. They can't hit America, but their allies can. And even though they can't hit America, the can kill Americans in Japan and S. Korea, S. Korea also being an ally.

Oh, and since you want to get nasty about numbers:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/7674962/US-has-more-than-5000-nuclear-warheads.html
http://www.neatorama.com/2010/05/03/just-how-many-nukes-does-the-us-have/
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_states_with_nuclear_weapons

Happy reading.
their allies can but they wont, if nkorea tosses out a nuke then everyone around it is gonna be like "who? yeah we dont know that guy" but on the other hand if the us invades them before they do something stupid then they will have allies, this whole thing is just about nkorea wearing the big boy pants, besides the number of nukes doesnt really matter much, in the end it doesnt take many to wipe out civilization and we have more then enough for that
Exactly, it's posturing, but threats by NK have been historically backed by either China or Russia or both. My point, once again, is that it doesn't matter if they can or cannot reach Hawaii, they can still hit US soil, and they can still hit allies, and they can still hit our forces if (and that's a huge if) they're doing more than blowing smoke up our asses.

..oh, and if "the number of nukes doesnt really matter much" then why the nasty little "and russia never had more nukes then the us, unless you can find some good numbers to back up that claim" remark?
because Ive heard the term missile gap too much so I tend to take it on a bit aggressively despite apparently being wrong about it this time, but still they wont have allies if aa nuke flies, it just wont happen because no one wants to be nuked and I seriously doubt n korea is stupid enough to push the button
I would normally agree, but they sank a S. Korean vessel, and with a change in leadership impending, the madness of K.J.I. should not be underestimated. I sincerely doubt this really will go any further than saber reattling, but they're doing an awful lot to rile the lions.
ehh as I said, if they do something then it will show them to be a bit too insane for their allies and chances are they will end up alone in a very big world that isnt happy with them, as much as the us doesnt want another war Ill bet that russia and china want to avoid one with the us more, after all the cold war went so well for everyone... ok thats not quite true, it was the best thing to happen to alot of countries after ww2 since it ment that both the us and the ussr would be throwing money at them to rebuild in hopes of them going one direction or the other, unlike ww1 when we expected the losers to pay for everything which really contributed to ww2
Yeah, but the worst of that scenario is that there could be no response in kind since it would do too much collateral damage to allies on both sides (S. Korea, Russia, China, Japan). They really can do whatever they want, and expect no equal retaliation. That's been the rock on which they've stood for a long time now.

lol, these quotes are getting insanely large in my inbox.
I know right, but I seriously doubt that if they launched a nuke of any kind that they would remain not glass for very long

The discussion here is: "Who do you side with and what should happen?"
Nothing is going to happen. The North Koreans don't have the capacity to hit JAPAN with their nuclear weapons, much less anywhere further away, so the US is safe. This is blustering, something they've been doing for years now. They are a rogue nuclear power and they do have the ability to hit South Korea (but they want the South so they won't do it) or they could hit China (but that would be pissing off their only backer). This isn't the prelude to world war three or nuclear war, so stop worrying about it. When NK is technologically sound enough to have a successful missile test then we'll worry. Until then, chill.
http://worldnews.about.com/od/northkorea/f/nkoreamissile.htm
They fucking did a missile test over and had a missile go over Japan. Japan probably hates North Korea... Anyways if Japan shot down the rockets Korea would of considered it a act of war.
Yeah so hopefully Japan will be backing us up if we are ever in a war. I hope China stays out of this... I also don't want another "cold war"
Well.. yeah... Did you not pay attention during history class on WWII? Japan and Korea have a long standing history of hating each other that goes back, well, a very, very long ways. They're ability to launch nuclear weapons at each other not withstanding.

Japan is also our "imposed" protectorate. To my knowledge they still don't have their own military, which was part of their treaty with us at the end of WWII. This is why we still have a military base on Okinawa and the Japanese have said nothing about it. At this point South Korea, China, or Russia would be a much better ally.

If something goes down with NK it won't be a "cold" war, it will be a "hot" one and most likely a very short one. Launching nuclear weapons at other countries will make North Korea a threat to everyone on their border including two major powers and becomes a global situation. It doesn't matter who they strike at. North Korea doesn't have the economy to perpetuate a "cold" war. At the moment, the situation is still a lot of saber rattling and if they do decide to use nuclear weapons on a training exercise they will get torn to shreds. If they do respond, it will most likely be with conventional force.

A lot of the statements they release aren't actually meant to make us afraid, so much as they are for the benefit of their own people. It's the same sort of posturing that's been going on for a very long time now.

So my advice still stands: relax.

Let's be honest: North Korea wouldn't fire a nuke at America - America would blow North Korea to the dark side of Narnia sooner than Kim Jong Il could press the button.
That said, America is like the bully of the school playground: He taunts you to your face so you take a swing, whereupon he has a reason to smash your teeth in.
People need to realise that the governments of the world are the way they are for one reason - co-existance. Communism wouldn't work if Capitalism didn't exist and vice versa. Think back to 1984 (the novel) One superpower is at war with another, and in an uneasy alliance with the third. The war, while occasionally brought to home soils (by enemy or friend, neither is revealed fully) is fought on far away battlefields against inhuman genocidal enemies who rape, pillage plunder and destroy everything in their path, while the 'home forces' are seen as heroic self righteous figures who get shot and carry on for death and glory.

It's basically Warhammer 40K on a bigger scale, because 40K doesn't end in total nuclear annihilation either.

SARS, Swine Flu, Bird Flu, Anthrax, dirty bombs... We've all heard it all before. Now granted, if a nuke falls and wipes us all out, I may, in my final musing seconds, retract the previous bilious statement.
