I would mention King's Quest, but I just saw an update today about somebody remaking King's Quest 3 soon, so I don't think it counts any more.

I'm not as old as some, only 17, but I grew up a retro-gamer, so I've got to put one of my favorite old NES titles: Paperboy. Freaking Paperboy. Delivering newspapers on looney street while dodging homicidal dogs, manholes, witches, and tornadoes. Please tell me someone else remembers this.
That's on Xbox arcade, I bought it.

OT: Siding with commander keen, that was badass. Game of my childhood was either Pokemon Blue or Age of Empires 1 though.

Same here, though I could never get past the level where you only have Warlocks.

Yep, I remember playing this one soo much as a child, though I'm not sure if I ever got anywhere. I mostly remember the "KERSPLAT" that he would scream as you hit things with your tail.

Also, Abe's Oddysey and Abe's Exoddus. Awesomest game that I have ever played and it's a 2-D screen by screen puzzle platformer. That's saying something. AVAILABLE NOW ON STEAM FOR ONLY 3-4 DOLLARS AU/US BUY NOW BEAT THE RUSH!

The first computer game I ever played was this:

Sim City 2000 was the next one I really played before I got "serious" about gaming. After that I played a ton of Monster Truck Madness, Midtown Madness, Streets of Simcity and my sister introduced me to Doom and Quake on her computer...

Yay, nostalgia!

Can't exactly remember a lot of the titles but a few that spring to mind for me are:

Sim Tower - Could never get 100 stories with a cathedral as a kid but dusted it off and finally managed it a few years ago.

Age of Empires 2 - I loved leaving 1 enemy alive and making a prison for him with walls so I could keep playing and make an awesome town / empire.

Liero - This was a fun little game, kinda like worms but in real time. We used to set the reload time to 0 so you could fly with a minigun...

Elasto Mania - This was a motorbike game with weird physics, you had to complete technical levels. I remember taking a floppy disk into the local internet cafe and downloading the demo onto it. Probably the last floppy disk usage I remember.

There are a bunch of others but I can't quite put a name to them... I used to get a lot of demo disks back in the day.

- Ski-Free (damn that Yeti)
Were you aware that you could press the 'F' key to go faster and avoid the Yeti. Because I didn't find out about that until a decade later when it was already nearly impossible to find a copy of the game.

Tex Murphy Adventure Game Series:
Under A Killing Moon
The Pandora Directive
Overseer
Toonstruck
Brain Dead 13
Bad Mojo

Games from a time when the quick satisfaction of point and shoot was still in it's infancy. Gimme those old time-consuming, brain-teasing, mettle-testing days once more.

Anyone play Chex Quest? I think it came inside a box of Chex. I didn't know how to play and the monsters and music scared the crap out of me (this was my first 3D shooter)but i loved it.

Ski-Free! Oh man, that game! The yeti always freaked me out, especially since I thought you weren't supposed to get past it... I only found out a few years ago that you actually CAN get past him!

Otherwise, Mario Paint, Yoshi's Island, Baldur's Gate 2, Worms, and Frogger were some of my favorite. Not very obscure, but oh well.

I'm only 16, but I remember watching my older brother playing Grim Fandango when I was small. I recently remembered that game and had a look for it on the internet - second hand copies are going for £60 :(
