I am 22 now so I was a kid back in the mid-late 90s, and since I didn't get my first "console" (Gameboy pocket) til '99 I ended up playing lots of little DOS and Windows 3.1 games on the PC at home, back when Shareware was big.

I used to play games like:
- Commander Keen (in Goodbye Galaxy)
- Duke Nukem 2 (all 4 parts)
- Hocus Pocus (only part 1)
- Hubie
- Electrobody (demo)
- Ski-Free (damn that Yeti)
- Krypton Egg
- Chip's Challenge
- Skunny Kart Racing
- Jazz Jackrabbit (only part 1)
- Jill of the Jungle (what a babe haha)
Anyone remember any of these? I'm sure you can download them somewhere. I'll probably remember more later.

I'm not as old as some, only 17, but I grew up a retro-gamer, so I've got to put one of my favorite old NES titles: Paperboy. Freaking Paperboy. Delivering newspapers on looney street while dodging homicidal dogs, manholes, witches, and tornadoes. Please tell me someone else remembers this.

-Chips Challenge

Sorry, I don't remember the others.

Also: funny story, this is what I'm listening to right now.

Dark Forces and Tie Fighter. Classic Star Wars.

And, because I can, Deus Ex.
Dark Forces for sure. Never played Tie Fighter, but I remember X-Wing.

Anybody here play the game Power Pete? You play this soldier toy tasked with saving all these fuzzy rabbits scattered throughout a toy store. They re-named it Mighty Mike, if anyone remembers.

Other than the above, the Lode Runner series was bomb. That's about it for my childhood addictions.

Rollercoaster Tycoon, not so much a game as much as a time sink, but damn what an addicting time sink it was.
Also I was apparently an amusement park themed supervillain because a looooooot of people died on my rides.
Mwa ha ha ha ha ha ah!

Yeah, I loved just setting the coaster to do a power launch, and loop and have the cart shoot right into a lake. I really wish they'd make a new Rollercoaster Tycoon.

I had the original, brick-like behemoth of the original gameboy. I'm talking original Pokemon Red and Blue.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
I miss good ol pixel games
I played the fuck out of master of magic when I was a kid, not only was it the first place you could see a topless women (sexy voodoo chick) but it was also massivly fun and had some really cool exploration... think civ but in a fantasy universe with probably better combat

Oh yeah I skipped the brick and went to pocket and then color, but stopped before advance (Gamecube was next). My game boy games were Pokemon blue, pinball and gold, and zelda: oracle of seasons.

Kinda sad seeing Pokemon Black and White huh, I was raised on 150, now its like 600+...

Absolutely. Our whole family played Zoombinis, pretty much.

Other titles (childhood period pretty much 1996-2000):
Word Rescue/Math Rescue/other shareware edutainment titles
Some flyswatter game
Nethack/ZZT
AEGIS: Guardian of the Fleet
Age of Empires

As well as some other shareware titles I forget. That was pretty much the end of the shareware age, so we saw quite a few of those before they all vanished.

Not really from my childhood... but my two favourite PC games from a while ago are:

Tribes (MY Favourite Multiplayer FPS... The one that got me hooked on Multiplayer. Sadly... no game has been as awesome in my opinion.)

and

Sanatarium ("Oh My God! They're throwing cyclopean babies into the furnace!" Makes me laugh EVERYTIME!)

Ah shareware, how I loved thee...

So much time spent playing shareware versions of Doom and Raptor and the like. So good, so good.
