Stay classy, Escapists.
OT: Exactly how I feel. I would be okay with Origin if it wasn't for the intention, which was obvious "NO GIVE US YOUR MONEY INSTEAD".
Instant nerd rage ensues when you say "origin good" or "steam bad" in anyway on here. So I'm not surprised so many read the title, began frothing at the mouth and became too blind with rage to actually read the article. If they did that they'd realize it's standard escapist sensationalist headline that doesn't fit the article.
A sensationalist headline might read, "Notch Freakin' Loves Him Some Origin ... Mmm, Mmm Good!" not just a direct summarizing quote. Notch actually did say that he feels as though Origin is a good thing. If you chose to interpret the current headline as referring to the platform's inner mechanics as opposed to its conceptual existence, that's a product of the way you think, for better or worse, not the syntax of the sentence in question. You could be on to something if you're about to reply something similar to "But then you should have written it like ... " but then again, the way it's currently written is my prerogative as the author of the post.
Also, contrary to what I can only assume is a somewhat popular misconception, The Escapist is not a pay-per-hit website for news contributors. The writers here do our best to make headlines concise, and if we're really feeling froggy, fun. We accept no additional compensation for popularity, nor do the editors ever, ever pressure us into misconstruing headlines or purposely misleading the readership. Sorry if you felt confused by this one, but I'm glad that the focus of the article narrowed once you read through it, as intended.
